This design, originally conceived by Josh Bixler and marketed by Hobby Kıng, has morphed into other brands and/or names. The Bixler 1.0, which is still manufactured and marketed along with the newer and larger 2.0, is what I successfully trained & learned on. Great alrcraft ! Added note: l always flew my Bixler 1.0 with a 3S 2200mAh LiPo battery and nothing less than that. ... So I was surprised when you showed that 2S LiPo. Never heard that this aircraft uses a 2S battery.
This video has everything: flight, build and gyro setup which can be applied to other planes. Would love to see you fpv it. This plane is perfect for fpv.
Nice beginner plane! I like how it flies with a 3S battery. It reminds me of the Aeroscout. Say, are they going to install a landing strip on that field? That be great!
Swap esc to anything BUT original & use 3s-1500. Minwax the bottom of the fuselage, & NO more hand tosses! Not only will it land on grass, it will also leave the grass too! (I had a couple.🤷♂️😁)
Hey Steve awesome. This is a big version of the sky King you reviewed about 3 yrs ago. I bought that and loved it. Batteries were cheap too so I bought a bunch. I just wished it was bigger though. I guess wishes do come true 😅😂
It reminds me of the axn floater jet that I learned to fly with 10 years ago 3s 2200mah tgy lipo setup.I've had a variety of them, with different wingspans. Perfect fpv flyer above the clouds l.For now I'm more interested in helicopters, but I'm still a beginner in this field. I'm learning as much as I have time. Very nice and necessary videos steve. Keep up the good work.👍👍👍
Hi Captain Drone that’s one Super Glider I absolutely love all your video content you definitely have the best RC channel on the website Steve simply the best ❤So much I joined you channel I am looking forward to seeing more of your fantastic content for years to come sincerely your friend and fellow Canadian Captain Richard ❤
The wing profile is beautiful. I'd love to have the same on a full-size plane when learning. My only criticism of most belly-landers is the lack of reinforcement for the polystyrene at the belly. Not all grasses are soft. A simple 3 or 4 mil plastic tape along the bottom would vastly improve longevity.
I dipped my feet into RC planes with a Rage RC Tempest 600, which is basically a scaled down version of this. No ailerons, only rudder, but at least it is under 250g so I can fly it at my local park inside a control zone. Glides wonderfully and the gyro lets a small aircraft fly on windy days which makes for fun reverse gliding in the wind and it's nearly indestructable because it's so light and a pusher. These glider types are really fun and relaxing.
The Rage RC Tempest 600 is a rebrand of the Volantex V761-2 Ranger 600. There is a new version of the Volantex Ranger 600 out now that had been upgraded to 4-channel with ailerons. All the Volantex V761 series planes are great little sub-250gms toys.
Wow, this is exciting! I have no interest in RC plane flying (I'm a quadcopter guy), but I love watching you fly this plane and seeing what it can do! On the other hand, I wonder if one could stick a decent camera on it in order to get some good footage? Eh, probably not. I checked the specs online and they do not say anything about transmission range -- how far away can one fly and still be able to control the aircraft?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Well, without a camera that makes perfect sense. What I was worried about was how if could run out of range while still being in sight! My very first drone, a stock Hubsan H501S, had a fairly short range, and could go out of range while still in VLOS. Until I replaced its antennas, and then it could fly about 1.5km away from me.
Is that a full range radio system? The park flyers have very limited range I flew r/c planes for 14 years and when I was teaching my grandson to fly as soon as he got it almost to the end of the park and starting to turn it was out of range. I took the transmitter a ran toward the plane, I never gained control and watched it hit the ground. They are good trainers but not with limited range radios.
Great video Steve, it reminds me alot of the aeroscout but without wheels. The aeroscout is very floaty aswell. Thanks to your videos I have started to learn rc planes, so far I have the umx twin otter, the umx timber evolution, the aeroscout 1.1 and my most recent purchase the eflite cirrus sr22t (the red one) I'm still using the spektrum dxs transmitter that came with the scout for all the planes. I would love some. Advice on an upgrade, liking the radio master tx16s for its multi protocol, not sure about the spektrum dx8, seems very expensive for not as many features. Keep up the great work captain 👍👍👍
Your choice of radio system will depend on your own circumstances. Us older folks generally like to stick with what we know regardless of the cost. There is no doubt that Spektrum/E-flite make their products to operate seamlessly and have a good support network. But as the consumer you pay a greatly inflated price for a proprietary system that is designed to grab you by the short and curlies and keep you in their financial clutches. As you say the Open-source Radiomaster TX16S is a far more capable unit at a way better bang-for-buck ratio. You just have to decide if you want to learn how to use it to set-up and fly both your Spektrum planes and a whole raft of other equally competent (but WAY cheaper) brands. Your Avatar suggests that you should be young enough to not be stuck in a hole like us. As an aside the Aeroscout you mention is another good beginner's pusher type plane (like this unit and other Bixler-type planes) but note that it is just a re-branded Chinese-made E-sky EYAS (Eagles) with an added Spektrum receiver.
This is about the same size as my Conscendo which I really like. But it doesn't come with a transmitter and it has a front propeller which isn't quite so noisy.
Looks like smaller version of my Bixler 2 . I like a slow plane. When building my Bixler I way over powered it so takes off so far away before you gather your orientation and it changes direction too easily
Could you put telemetry in this? I would like a vario at least. Although it might be too heavy for that activity. Probably would need a completely different setup inside and out.
Hello Steve. Great video. You are very good at explaining everything. The loud sound is because the propeller sits so close to the trailing edge of the wing. This will be like the sirens they used during World War II. as they swung around. the faster the louder the sound. If you could move the engine a few cm further back, the sound would be better. Best regards Geir
Well done Captain ! Just went online to order the Plane, its a very confusing website and not clear on what you are committing to !!!; also , couldn't see anywhere to enter your discount code!; I maybe missing something???; just wanted to order the "RTF" kit!, any help to order this would be great !!!
You have to type in my discount code at checkout while on the FMS store. Are you new to TH-cam? If you need helping finding the discount code below the video let me know & I’ll explain where you should be looking.
I found a negative or two. I just went to order it and not only do they not have one with reflex built in they won't deliver to Vancouver island!!😮 What's the deal it's 2024... Steve are there any alternative places to buy this? I can't believe it...
FMS does not ship to Canada. You have to special order through a Canadian Distributor like GREAT HOBBIES. You email them and tell them what you need and they’ll see if they can get it.
I had one aswell but they are wayyyy too fragile, especially the nose and wing connections. Unless you modify (reinforce the nose and wing connections) I would not recommend it, especially not for beginners.

Another nice RC Plane and good review Steve
Those types are best 4 channel planes to learn..very easy to fly yourself with very little experience.
Very tempting plane. I think I could handle it. The price is right too. Thanks for reviewing it. 👍👍😀

Great video! You can use your mouth on the throttle to hand-launch without a tie-belt.
Ha ha, I do watch many people doing that and I find it looks very funny…. But it works!
Fun video ! 😃
Great review on a great flying beginner.
Thanks Cap !!

I put a couple strips of fiberglass tape on my belly land planes & the planes remain in like new condition for many years.

Range is always an unobstructed mile with these remotes/receivers. But honestly, 99% of pilots always keep planes in visual line of sight.

For RC Planes I stick with Spektrum, only because I can setup a radio and bind a receiver in seconds with such a radio, so I’ve stuck with it.

Hey cap! I know you've already done a review on the volentex p-51d v2, but I was wondering if you could do a review on the volentex Corsair too.
I like the set up great detail

nice one Steve
Hi Captian! can I use my Flysky FS-I6 with this?
Will you review the mini 4K?
Could you put telemetry in this? I would like a vario at least. Although it might be too heavy for that activity. Probably would need a completely different setup inside and out.
Yes, certainly. If you use a compatible Spektrum receiver, you can also add the GPS unit.
Nice!
Do you happen to know the transmission range? Thinking as an FPV plattform. The website doesn't specify, nor does the user manual.
These radios & receivers all have a one mile unobstructed range.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Oh great. Thanks!

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks Captain, will give that a go !!!!
Wood 3s give you more flight time?
Yes, if you use little throttle
Did you fly it with reflex installed? If so did it work ok. ?
I did & as seen in the vid I could fly with no hands on joysticks
How do you mount the 360 Captain? Velcro?
Double sided tape
you should try out the avios bush mule on hobby king
It glides like an eagle 👍

Quick question folks does the autel nano + have a fpv mode so I can fly with a vr headset for phones??
You have to use The DRONE MASK: dronemask.com/

awsome captain.
I learned how to fly on a plane like this 🎉
I just have one beginner plane for now
5:40 lol
can unboxe a cheap good rc car
I'll bet it will take off from grass with3s battery, easy.

Every pilot in the RC PLANE hobby crashes planes on learning and then quickly learns how to repair foam.. super easy and all part of the hobby.
Another FMS knockoff
There are so many of these planes out there and they’re all terrible. FMS is just making a terrible plane a lot better.
