Thank you to the entire Ape Initiative team for making this project possible.
Ape Initiative is the only research facility in the world dedicated to the study and conservation of bonobos. It is a federally-recognized non-profit 501(c)(3) and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as a Certified Related Facility. Filming within Ape Initiative was done with professional supervision at all times.
Bonobos are very endangered in the wild, with only around 15,000 left - which is in large part due to the pet trade. In this video, you see Kanzi engaging in human activities as part of his daily enrichment, but Kanzi is by no means a pet at Ape Initiative.
⚠️ It is important to remember that bonobos and all other primates are NOT pets.
Minecraft (and any other touchscreen game) is one of many enrichment activities that Kanzi can choose to participate in to have fun and make his day more interesting. The door is always open, so he can choose when to start and stop playing.

When I first saw the 1st video I was literally shocked for life but when I saw this video and the freaking water bucket clutch I was literally looking at my wall and silently screaming in my head of pure joy for almost 7 mins. I have to honest Kanzi and Teco are not only Legends, they are God Tier Players, I mean where else did you ever see a real ape doing an actual water bucket clutch in minecraft. That’s just freaking insane man. One day Kenzi and Teco will have their own channels and twitch streams. Then it will be the first ever apes to stream on twitch and make TH-cam videos
The water bucket wasn't that impressive. Button appears at top of screen, ape taps button, everyone claps. The impressive part is that he could move around and didn't fall into lava in the Nether.

Its possible they aren't even aiming really, maybe they're just shooting everywhere for hours and the editors just keep the parts where they accidentally hit the dragon. Editing can go a long way and we clearly can't trust the guys who made this video since they faked the water clutch part.

@@Dst1le All I can say for now is he faked this video, so you shouldn't trust him at other times either. If you look at the moment near the end when the ape water clutches, there's a cut right when he hits the water. Right after the cut - the hunger, health and armor has changed, in a split second. That's impossible. Which means, it's not a split second at all. It's two different moments edited to look like one moment where the ape succesfuly waterclutches. They actually got no footage of him water clutching, which is weird, because that would mean they were able to record the fall right before the water clutching on one occasion, and record the landing in the water on another occasion, but on both occasions it stoped recording part of it or something, so they HAD to cut to different moments together to look like one moment to recreate what happened. Yeah, I doubt it. They most likely just faked it, edited it to make it look like he water clutched.

Bonobos are one of my favorite animals for so many reasons, but this is just another example of why I love them so much. Studying anthropology made me appreciate them far more than I ever did, and I am so glad I got to study this awesome ancestor!

@@No_se528 Kanzi and Teco are bonobos! a good way to tell the difference between chimps and bonobos is that bonobos are more slender with lanky arms, hence why they are sometimes called the pygmy chimp. they also have darker faces.

This is awesome. A great experiment would be to get some of these monkeys at a much younger age and train them to play. It’d be really interesting to see the difference in how quickly they learn and how good they get.

This should be getting way more traction. A lot of effort was put into making the game accessible and reveals a lot about the behaviour of primates. This is a very valuable experiment and well done to Teco and Kanzi for managing to understand fairly complex concepts given they haven't developed computer technology after thousands of years nor grown up with it.
