Not true in the slightest. Muay Thai as it is today is less than 50 years old. Pre late 70s Muay Thai had no boxing and way more high kicks from ludicrous range than you would care to admit. As a matter of fact, it looked a lot like the crappy amateur boxing you would see in karate tournaments or American kickboxing.

That's how bad Muay Thai was before the late 60s/mid 70s.

The Thai that fight won on a Technical factor(Low kicks). Roufus knocked the Thai fighter down early and clearly showed superior boxing skills as executing a few spin kicks. If Roufus' camp did their homework(how to defend low kicks) it could have turned out differently.
Of course they have great stamina,they beat the hell out of them during training,in the ring they may fight for 3 rounds of 3minutes,but in training they last for a dozen of rounds at least,those people are immune to pain and they take great pride fighting using their countrys martial art,they will never let any other ethnicity claim the throne for their national martial art,we must respect that.
Also thais train from start for 5 x 5 minute rounds. I was a Karate chanpion in North America and reigning Sanda British Heavyweight champion where we do use low kicks then eventually transitioned into pro mma. So I was experienced. During fight prep I decided to go to Thailand to fight prep at Tiger muaythai and mma camp. This was 2007 and I was the first foreign pro there. All I can say is the training there was just on a truly different level. I trained over several years there for 2/3 months 2/3 times a year and they are levels above anywhere in the western countries in terms of conditioning at the very least.

This is why full contact kickboxing is all but dead in the US. When MMA exploded in popularity, most went to Muay Thai or at the very least, below the waist kickboxers to learn how to strike.
Paradoxically, the oriental Kickboxing (low kick, elbows, knee ...) came to the USA before the American Full contact Kickboxing. States restrictive sports laws prevented it from developing.
Savate is similar to American Kickboxing of old, and it's alive and well. Taekwondo is way more restrictive - and that made it even into the Olympics. Greco-roman/freestyle wrestling - is not bothered by MMA's popularity even in the slightest. So i'm guessing it's marketing and money. As a sport based on movement, boxing principles and boxing footwork - old school American Kickboxing is respectable, but should've stayed in its niche, even despite the merits of some of it's legendary fighters. I'd be glad to see it today.

I've been getting a lot of these Muay Thai Vs kickboxing videos pop up recently. And none have been Muay Thai Vs kickboxing, it's always a Muay Thai fighter Vs a kickboxer, with kick boxing rules. No elbows, knees or grabs allowed. And yet the kickboxer still loses.
The taller guy did well just the Thai fighter went after the other guy vital spots ! Good fight! Thai fighters usually beat up TKD karate champions and kick boxers KO them too!
Honestly, TKD and Karate is mainly for show. None of it is useful to use in and out of the ring, I am sure you can take someone here and there but I wouldn't train in them in hopes of protecting yourself. If your kids want to train in TKD or Karate, it's best to bring them to a gym who trains in MMA and preferably Muay Thai. The kids will really have fun, there is actually a lot of action in MMA training and Muay Thai, karate and TKD are boring in my opinion, it's why most kids never end up training for a long time, it's actually why I quit TKD after a few days when I was a child, I thought I would get to actually fight and make some action happen, but it's all garbage to be honest.
There two types of kickboxer normal ones and karate based ones and there is big diffrence bezeen the two the ones with karate background uses a varaty of strikes like axe kick turn kicks and other types of kicks even that they are not powerfull but they open up the way for other combinations

Lol I think MuayThai fighter they just do basic things nothing fancy. But they worked so hard. Run for 10-20 kilometers Kick, Punch, Knees, Elbow for a thousand time per day. That’s why something they did just basic but do a lot of damage.

Muay thai pretty much beat any other stand up styles on the first contacts. Today 99% of stand up styles have muay thai elements in the systems.
Don't forget the Japanese kickboxing same rules as the Muay Thai (low kick, elbow, knee).

Lol I think MuayThai fighter they just do basic things nothing fancy. But they worked so hard. Run for 10-20 kilometers Kick, Punch, Knees, Elbow for a thousand time per day. That’s why something they did just basic but do a lot of damage.
