this is the best written run of spiderman ever, the dialogue for villains is so well thought out and the characters talk like people its kind of uncanny
I love this version of Peter. Especially the way he interacts with the world around him given how strong he is and how much darker the ultimate universe is.
Yeah I know now but did not learn that until a few years back. Losing ultimate Peter is up there for me with TLOU 2, RDR1, and RDR2 as far as losing beloved characters.
I just got unlimited and started working my way through the Ultimate comics and so far they're actually really enjoyable, but Spider-Man is just leagues ahead of the rest of the roster it's insane

1:30 ✨ that was me! I was the 12 year old picking up Marvel comics for the first time, and I started with Ultimate Spider-Man, and I still have and read them!
After I finished Ultimate Spider-Man about a month ago (for the first time), I started digging and it felt so wrong that there wasn’t a comics explained on it. Happy to see it’s finally out here! I’m reading Secret Wars now, through my reading of the Miles Morales run. Miles’ story is written so much better in so many ways, but I still really love the USM Peter.
I’m reading every ultimate comic published in chronological order(or release date order for some runs) and I’m so excited to get to Miles. I’m stuck on Squadron supreme right now, I do not recommend their run at all.
7:30 It's pretty curious to see old comics like Spiderman's first comic digitally re-colorized. It reminds me of Neal Adams' sick obssession with updating the colors of his works every time a new edition came out. I honestly like these changes as long as they are well made and give to the resders the chance to enjoy the old version everytime they want
I started watching Rob about 5 years ago, so I really enjoy the old form of his storytelling. I know that this format bummed Rob out, but I miss the Rob Corp. ❤
The Spider-Man unlimited series was the first Marvel comic series I ever read. I had just picked up a Marvel Unlimited subscription and chose this one since Spider-Man was my favorite character and I think the app recommended the Ultimate series as great entry for new readers. I read through the whole 100+ issue series in a matter of a month I was so addicted. That was 4 years ago now and I can't wait to hear you talk about it with all the background info you always add!
I’ve read a bunch of classics but when Ultimate launched I literally switched to only reading and collecting ultimate universe Releases. It was just Refreshing, More self contained and outright easier to follow. It did have some odd questionable choices but all in all probably one of the best things they have done. I still have a hard drive with a collection of every single release all the way to Ultimátum. After that I kept up with Miles but all other titles sort of got really disorganized. I did enjoy The Ultimates run where they brought out like “!original “ version of the team with like the First hulk and the Russian Wasp. That was a very interesting take. And that weird Thor story where it kept flip flopping into “ he’s created with technology and just crazy/ He is a real god” Such a freaking wild ride lol
I thought part of the change to the Spider-Man mythos was that the spider that bit him was not "radioactive" from nuclear radiation, but was instead genetically altered/engineered, which caused its venom to change whoever it bit??? Like, updating the origin because back in the 1960s, most people didn't know what nuclear radiation did, so it got used for super-power origins all the time, but in modern day people generally know that radiation=dead, but genetic engineering is the way to go for sci-fi now, so they changed the origin to use that instead.
I LOVED the reboot and the journey of Ultimate Spider-Man. Massive fan, didn’t know who wrote it until today - makes total sense. Thanks for covering this. Love your work, legend.

I love that your doing the Ultimate universe and I get why you did the spider-man video (even though it’s pretty much just a remaster😂) but I don’t think spider man has much to do with the parts of the ultimate universe I wanna hear you deep dive into is the x men, FF and the ultimates
I've been an avid comic book reader for years before ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN came out. I didn't have a comic shop near me, so I grabbed the trade paperback at Barnes & Noble. I've been hooked ever since. In my opinion, it brought Spidey's tales into the 21st century. I will, from time to time, go back and read the first volume, "Powerless."
Ultimate Spiderman is the greatest comic run of spider-man ever if you ask me. I own every single issue and i have never even thought of looking up what its worth because i would never sell it anyway. It has the PERFECT ending for a spiderman run. Not to mention some of the best redesigns of villians.
This was the only comic run I've read for spider-man. My philosophy professor recommended it to me when I asked him what spider-man comics I should read
Ultimate spider man is a breathe of fresh air to the spider-man universe without it being to far gone just switching things up, I always hated how it was always uncle been to die, would like to have seen it be aunt may and see how Peter turns out with uncle been by his side through the remainder of his life
I just recently started re-reading the Ultimate Spider-Man comics and I think you got somethings wrong, probably misremembering. But Norman actually resents Harry, a lot, even goes to the extent of saying he is ashamed of showing in public with him. I also don't think Bendis rushes things at all, it takes almost 10 volumes for Peter to finally wear the classic Spider-Man suit. Overall, very nice video! I really like this resurgent of the Ultimate Universe I've been seeing recently

If Hickman did this, there would be no "homage" to anything because that guy completely ignores anything, besides most character names, if it's not something he's "created" or changed despite how extensively established something may be.

Ultimate Spider-Man and the Amazing Spider-Man movies has some big similarities. Petes dad had some involvement in Pete becoming Spider-Man, Robber of a Deli kills Uncle Ben and so on and so forth.

As always, great video! I’m not well versed on Spider-Man here. Between the over saturation of him in the market and the toxicity of his fans (especially tobey maguire fans) I really can’t stand Spider-Man anymore. I’ve been enjoying his villains getting origin stories on the big screen without Spider-Man overshadowing their journey. (To me that’s how it should be done. Introduce the villain, show how they came to be. Then at the very end/post credit scene show how they come into contact/conflict with Spider-Man). Unfortunately all of those movies weren’t done as well as they could have been. That and listening to Spider-Man “fans” whining about how “THE ENTIRE THING SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPIDER-MAN!!! Why is Morbius even in the Morbius movie?! What’s venom without Spider-Man?!” 😒
