The Skrulls did not deserve the show, like a side story type of thing. I was expecting Marvel to, like how they did with Thanos, hint at existing characterS (MAJOR characters) being skulls. And introduce them in small open ended scenes like they did at the end of WandaVision and Spider-Man FFH, but again with MAJOR characters and having them be evil. Once I saw they were made into a Disney+ show, I knew they weren’t going to take them as seriously, but I feel like they should’ve. I honestly would’ve preferred the Skrulls to be the next Thanos equivalent big bad instead of Kang and leave Kang a little later down the line
Honestly, Ultron should have come after Thanos. They blew Ultron too quickly because they wanted that first Avengers sequel money. It would have also neatly recontextualised the birth of Vision, and the current MCU showed really well that Vision is perfectly capable of being a compelling character far removed from Ultron inherently.
@@Nikelaos_Khristianos I think Ultron as the sequel was fine, because he can always come back. But the way he was handled was pretty bad. There was no consistency with his writing. Ultron could have a much more menacing threat. One that you can never really get rid of, kind of like what they're trying to with Kang. The MCU is a much softer and easier approach to general audiences than the comics, so you're never going to get as compelling of a character compared to the comics.
@@allisterblossfeld9329 this part people forget the title was "Age of Ultron". An Age can be a very long period of time, such as "The Broze Age", The Stone Age", etc people just want Infinity Saga again that anything it's not is bad
With how poorly they handled Kang, I would prefer if he was just a misdirect for the Skrull invasion... but I guess that's not going to happen
@@danielland3767 More like “Age” because the robot was literally everywhere all at once (the past, the present and the future) and there was little to no chance of there being anything besides Ultron.
The animated secret invasion arc on avengers: Earth's mightiest heroes is ten times better then the live action adaptation
Amen. EMH is an awesome Avengers show.
Agree 100%!! One of the better animated Marvel shows.
Is it On Disney+?
@@00drpepper58 Yes, thank goodness Earth's Mightiest Heroes is on Disney+. I go back to watch that show along with Spectacular Spider-Man.
@@00drpepper58 it is, but I bought the whole show on dvd. I'll have it forever.
That was terrifying. I know skrulls are insidious but I've never seen their potential realized so well. It's okay for them to be used in normal situations, but a race of doppelgangers rightly should appeal to conspiracy theory level suspense.
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010-2012) series did a really good adaptation of this storyline. Albeit short, it was still impactful towards the status quo of the series, even though the series ended abruptly
facts. that show setup The Secret Invasion so well looking back at it made me realize why great writing is necessary
That show was great. Too bad it got canceled after Disney bought Marvel. Avengers Assemble was OK and kind of followed it but wasn't the as good.
@@jakecruise230 avengers assembled was a joke. It seemed like it would take itself more seriously given the art style. But it felt too childish to me. Like it wanted to teach a lesson for every episode rather than having a good plot
@@animelvr99the most hilarious thing I saw on Avengers assemble, was Red skull having an invincible giant robot decimating all the avengers.
So Cap A and Bucky infiltrates the robot and confronts Red skull in the control room.
Red skull didn't like that, so he magnetises them to the wall of the control room and continues to beat the shit out of the other avengers.
Bucky gets angry and says "NO" slams his arm against the wall, breaking it and pulls some wires.
And then the robot collapses like a house of cards with explosions.
Red skulls invincible robot,
got destroyed from Bucky ripping some wires in the wall he was stuck to, by Red skull himself.
That was some of the most hilarious cascade of stupidity I've ever laughed at.
Edit: aw crap, I just found out this was from EMH S2 E21, not Assemble.
I was looking for Assemble clips the first time I saw it, and just assumed.
@@tripplesouth dear Lord. That is so stupid. I can't believe that's what we got
The comic book version and avengers earth's mightiest heroes is way better than the tv show
Avengers earth's mightiest heroes was my introduction to this storyline, the new show is pretty boring.
@@alister101Same here.
@@alister101the show isn’t better than the comic book and animated iterations of the storyline, but calling it “boring” is a bit of a stretch
@@GimmeYourBlubber and that is your opinion.
@@alister101 it is my opinion, and I’m wondering about your reasoning regarding yours
The backgrounds used in here is from the NEW secret invasion they tried to make to capitalize on the show. Just fun background art thats all. Also here's our review th-cam.com/video/FOGiwwLudY4/w-d-xo.html
😁
Thank ya very much Benny.
I wish Marvel would stop doing that, we have the original to Secret War to pull from and its a good story.
No one thought Civil War 2 was good, even to be remotely tied to the movie it pulled from the 1st one which they could have promoted
That version of Secret Invasion is better than the MCU version too
@@oscrmc8496 comics will almost always be better then visual medium but boring to average people, nor do they want to have the time to geek out/or talk daily in geek forums.
People that knew Shuri was a Black Panther knew before Chadwick died was small and believable about that was few.
Now everyone is a expert and still doesn't read the books, which is why they get redone all the time.
Comics are still "kids" books and untill that stigma goes away then we will have great stories but they will never translate straight to screen because the average person attention span is 15 mins at best
Let's be honest, guys. This was the BEST possible story to include numerous times the iconic part of Spider-Man 3's "Black Suit" theme 😂😂😂
🙄
I don't know... I've seen Spider-man 3...
...
You know what else is missing from the Secret Invasion TV show…Good writing. 😢
Maria Hill died bro 😢
And the acting too
@@maliktheking25 the acting was fine
lol..the writing was good in this show
I love the fact Alicia Masters was revealed to be a skrull just when Johnny betrayed Ben and tried to marry her. Karma at its finest 😘
Hardest line in this comic was nick fury going “yeah well my god has a hammer” with a close up of thor. So cold
“There’s only one god ma’am and he doesn’t dress like that” -Captain America referring to Thor in the first Avengers movie
The show tried make up for the absence of the Avengers, the X-Men, X-Force and X-Factor by making “Super Skrulls” with Groot dna, Ice Monster dna and Extremis (Iron Man 3). While I wish they made the show just like the comics, it’s just impossible for Hollywood to duplicate what the comics have made. I think the alternative is pretty good considering what they have to work with.
My thoughts exactly. If they tried for a truly comic book accurate adaptation it'd be expensive af and wayy too big to do. If it was its own saga maybe but it's within the Kang saga
+ChrundleTGreat
Yep
@@knightwing1294
Maybe in Phase 7, it'll be its own thing.
@@thealjohnsonshow2188 I hope
They should have used the inhumans from AoS for that but the writers somehow hates this show
Ever since losing you Ben I have been going back and listening to as many full stories as possible. This channel helped me get through a VERY nasty divorce and I only wish that I could have thanked you in person.
Rest, and thank you for years of memories.
This comic made Skrulls so much more of a threat than the MCU ever did.
I will never forgive the MCU for butchering one of my favourite Marvel Comics events
They said before the show it would have practically nothing to do with the comic event.
@Tores444 yes thank you
@Tores444 then they already fucked up before they started
@@johntaitt7995it's the same basic concept. Skrulls secretly invading earth. They had already said it would be different cause the MCU has nowhere near the number if characters the comics do.
@@Tores444 then why do it? And hype it up like it means something? lol Aren't you excited as a comic fan for the show that will be nothing like the actual story?? 🤦🏾♂
The ending with norman Osborn was straight up a great end credits scene from MCU
This was so good. Great job Comicstorian, and the comic writers.
I liked how doom in earths mightiest heroes knew before anyone else pretty fitting for him
I remember when secret invasion was coming out. I had just gotten into comics, didn't know who half these characters were, but it was still so awesome.
@comicstorian your delivery style is amazing! 👏👏👏
Always told my friends they should do the Skrulls last in all of the MCU. Even if they started now prepping for it, after Kang it could be heavy hitting.
The broken friendships and trust. It would be so dope.
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes version too! 😅😊
An event that had a 6 year build up? Sheer madness!
Everyone knows you turn out event after event every 6 months or so on an assembly line.
Secret Invasion Saga was awesome in Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated show.
Very good watch, I'll spread this around!
Hope you do more full stories for older comics, team books and solos for less popular characters.
Umm... Like OLDER, older comics or like the last 25 years?! Cause if you look at his whole library, you'll see he's done full story series for years now! Therefore, he has pretty much anything worth watching on his page right now! 😊
@@FullMetalMonk27Oh yeah I know he covers older stuff but that’s usually when it’s relevant to a movie or series. I mean like bronze age to about 2000’s stuff and from less popular characters, well characters that are less popular than Batman.
Thank you so much for this!!!
For the record, y'all can't expect everything from the comics to be adapted. And, even if it was adapted, don't expect the same story.
Captain America: Civil War is nothing like the comic book, and that's fine. Hell, it's my all-time favorite MCU movie.
Even though I'm aware of the loose adaptation for the Disney Plus series, I'm personally enjoying it.
Plus, who's to say that comic book Secret Invasion doesn't happen down the line?
Unfortunately, the problem with you "fans" is y'all can't seem to have patience for future MCU stories or moments to pay off. You don't want to wait and see, and that's sad.
Right now, currently, Rhodey is a Skrull. Best believe there will be a ripple effect as the MCU continues, and we'll hopefully get more shocking Skrull reveals.
Again, be patient.
Barely anything from the comics has been adapted within the MCU since phase 3. You could actively see where they drew inspiration from, they didn't have to be a one for one because for the most part it wasn't they did a lot of things differently.
But this new phases have no similarities to charthers or stories and only takes the name and they made almost the same amount of content phase 1 through 3 has nullfying peoples fate. It became so bad that after moives they make a comic book version of the event in the mainline of comics when it should be the opposite.
Thank you so much for doing this
12:17 That was intense!
Excellent narration.
The most missing in the show is the initiative. That and urich's arc. They made it better imo. The initiative even more with the promise of a skrull in every state. Both comic lines would have made the series more interesting and they wouldn't have to need the avengers / ff/ x men teams for it. I will say I enjoy the series but the comic by far is a better story.
Lmfao, that part with the college kids and Nick Fury is EXACTLY how it would go in real life.
Dumb kids. XD I howled with laughter.
That Skrull cows reference in this video was a deep dive I am not sure I was ready for lol
You know, I am halfway through this amazing video and just had a random thought. This would have been such an awesome underlying plot across all current Marvel films and/or series similar to how Thanos had the slow build up pre-Endgame. What a wasted opportunity by Marvel.
Yep, that's what Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes did. End of season 1 we see cap replaced, start of season 2 find out Invisible Woman was replaced and see Cap act differently (using more tech, new suit, way he acts), Carol joins then she and Black Panther quit because of the infighting/distrust sowed and then afterwards we see the distrust of Cap from the public for "leading the invasion". (haven't seen it for a while so could be missing some plot threads that lead into it)
This is so much better than the show I personally stopped watching after reading the comics...worth it, it's strange but I wanna get back to reading the classics after this. Maybe get back to writing my own comics again.. it's the classics for me to get the best concepts
This is the real secret Invasion 😂
36:06 At least the Skrull Jarvis is still a gentleman and not hurting the baby he holds.
Is it the good version? I'm not defending the Disney Plus show. But the whole purpose of secret invasion at the time was to bury the lead on a lot of dumb story plots. There was a lot going on. The avengers were broken up. Tony Stark was acting drastically out of character. Hawkeye was dead then brought back to life with no direction. Thor was dead but was brought back to life and nobody knew. Captain America was dead but was in limbo. None of this made sense. The art was terrible It opened the door to a few things. But the one thing that it should have done was reveal Tony Stark was a Skrull but instead they made a joke about it the whole time. The cover art was good though.
When was Tony out of character? He was a selfish asshole like always
The MCU should've done secret invasion after Civil War.
the secret invasion story is too big for TV, it should have been made into a movie considering its magnitude.
You mean a ten year event
I cried in my sleep as I listened to this...
Maybe should of called the show Fury. Then had a secret invasion 2 part movie later on
Would you mind covering the newer Secret Invasion comic. I thought that's what this video was going to be
29:38 this part gives me 'Mars attacks' vibes lol.
Please do the event right after this, Dark reign there’s not a single video about it on TH-cam
"Well my god has a hammer" Amazing
Holy Sht!!! A comicstorian video with Cloak & Dagger?!?! I never thought I'd see the day!!!
Edit: well Cloak at least...
I'm so glad to subscribe here. Watching the real story here.
SI could have been the culmination of the tv shows.
Been a long time since I read this, it's good! 😎👍
Haven't watched the Disney+ version as knew the TV show would suck - look forward to watching this!
Thanks Comicstorian 🙏🏾
It’s actually decent but it can’t hold a light to the comic
it's not really bad but i understand why some people dislike it because there's literally no other super hero in the show that's a skrull aside from Rhodey
it's secret invasion based on the mcu, not the comics. it's got good practical and cgi effects, decent fight choreography, believable acting and not a stupidly woke agenda to push. how does that "suck"?
Good decision, it's a horrible waste of the Secret Invasion title.
it's not some child friendly, cheese ball of a show. there's swearing, blood, and gun shots to the face. how does that "suck"? when compared to the past 2 years of mcu content?
LMAO the WeRe ArE My ChIlDreN killed me
Thst doesn’t mean the show is bad. Its just different from the comic storyline.
yep i like the tone, the only downgrade is it not being an avenger threat
@@serbukmomogiit literally is an avenger level threat. Its a world war
@@animelvr99 you're right, plus idk how tf mcu heroes didn't see the news and do something it💀
@@serbukmomogi 😂😂😂 they are on vacation or lost in time or some BS the producers will say.
Well if that title isn't a backhanded slap with gusto I don't know what is, hah!
First: The show has indeed little to do with this comic-story, besides Skrulls and the title, but...
Second: Keep watching, there are a couple of unexpected reveals in both episode 3 & 4. And...
Third: Never judge a show before it's completed. I've liked all available episodes and despite being different from the comics, it's a pretty good show so far, but we'll see if it sticks the landing.
The comic itself didn't have much to do with its title, the invasion was hardly a secret.
Whenever something is different I guess it’s worse.
I'm from the future betting that the final 30 min episode won't be better
I dropped the show after ep 3🥱, it just wasn't to my liking.
I can judge now. And I confidently say, it was shit.
Damn bro the title firing shots
Secret invasion should have happened much later, rallying the new avenger to fight dopplegangers of the old avengers.
stick to thinking, not commenting.
32:23 The Disney show could have definitely used Señor Sir Mr. Samuel L. Jackson! saying "Yeah, well my God has a Hammer!".
This was never even part of the original marvel end game movie
the secret invasion could've been an good alternative plotline to the Infinity Gauntlet arc
These costumes is crazy man like racks a big ole 🤣
and this is the problem right here whenever you guys want them to make the movies and TV shows as the comics you guys are still not happy case and point she hulk and moon knight last year you ever try to stop and think they maybe are making these movies and shows for the general audience and regular people and just super hardcore fanboys who have now gotten super toxic and will find anything to complain about because something they liked got changed and updated for a different audience and those same fanboys can't stand it
+mwamba85dt
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
I mean, Shehulk wasn't liked by the masses, including comic book fans and casual watchers overall, because they butchered her character and potential story.
For Moonknight, it was okay, and the show had mixed reception, but overall, it was pretty enjoyable to casual watchers, whereas comic fans could careless. The reason being they didn't even really follow a storyline.
Just because they bring a character in a MCU story does not mean they are going to do them justice, and I think that's what bothers a lot of Marvel comic fans.
@@UnlimitedIvory
There are people who do liked She-Hulk and Moon Knight.
@thealjohnsonshow2188 Yes, but the majority do not, and that's who Marvel should be striving to please
Ive enjoyed the show, especially this 2nd half...but the secret invasion story should have been a whole phase, culminating in an Avengers movie to wrap it up.
Best era of Tony Stark. Straight to business.
8:37 No worries, Mr. Fantastic gets better.
Bendis' Secret War (2004) to Hickmans Secret Wars (2015) was peak Marvel.
My favorite part from Secret Invasion:
Skrulls: Our god has mercy and compassion
Iron Man: Our god has a Hammer!
Only watched 10 minutes... That is enough to know this is already BETTER by A LOT than that show at Disney Plus
i think the “he loves you” reveal could have been more climactic with all of that great build up throughout the story but this is leagues better the show
That seemed really out of left field to me. Were the skrulls ever portrayed as religious extremists before this? It kind of reminds me of the cylons from the Battlestar Galactica reboot that was popular at the time.
And then T-rex!
Jesus that was amazing. 😂
Haven't watched this episode yet but 😅
I know this will be the GOOD version 😅
Personaly I was suprised how much I like the TV-Show, and I am happy that they are no MCU- Superhuman, at leat yet.
Thanks!
Wait so when Maria Hills gets shot I the comic she was actually an LMD? That would be an interesting twist for the MCU version but I don't think they're gonna do it.
Avenger’s Earth’s Mightiest Heroes version: The Best
Comics Version: Good
Live Action: Trying its best, okay?
I remember my aunt and uncle showed me this comic because they thought the heroes were evil.
Well yes but no lol. They do know what villains are right?
... I mean a lot of Marvel comics lately have the heroes acting like villains
@@animelvr99 no like they advertised it to me as. OH it's like marvel heros but some got replaced by aliens and they are bad guys now.
@@xo-1320 dang... why you spittin right now bro.
as soon as benny said "inspect them?" I think we all knew dum dum dugan was a skrull
Funny thing is, Linkara reviewed it and was tearing into it most of the time....
So I liked that the show was smaller scale. That and the MCU got the FF and X-Men late so they couldn't exactly pull it off because the Skrulls would be pretty tame after Thanos...
I mean... how can the scrolls be so powerful? Aside from sheer numbers, lack of organization amongst earths forces, or the aspect of a seemingly "perfect" execution of an infiltration operation in secret...? I find it hard to accept such an effortless destruction of some of Marvels strongest characters.
Can you cover the dark reign storyline?
I'd wait for more seasons to release before casting judgment.
The writers for the TV show just saw the title and didnt even read the comic book.
Shits already going crazy then a fucking t-rex lmfao
who drew this? Looks like the Superman: Birthright style. Love that artwork
edit: After googling it's Leinil Francis Yu, the same artist that illustrated Superman: Birthright. I knew it. The way he draws his eyes and pupils is so capturing to me. Clark's pupils in Birthright... I don't know how to explain but as an illustrator myself it's a thing of beauty.
The best version of Secret Invasion is still the Earth's Mightiest Heroes adaptation.
The comic is better, but the show is a quite good Nick Fury show.
To be perfectly honest, they would have needed a HUGE budget to put that comic on-screen.
They would have not needed that big of budget if they were setting up a story before SI premiered. Just like with Thanos. Or just make it a movie
@@animelvr99 The biggest costly items would have been the Avengers and their duplicates.
@@jaynewman6420 my suggestion is bring in a new set of heroes for avengers from: Thor, Ant-Man, black panther, eternals etc to be a team (the movies we have had). We have enough new characters in the franchise to use.
We don't need money for money sake. We need better writing focusing on characters. Also more episodes lol. Tell me you couldn't make a decent first season or movie from that.
Damn they really did Maria Hill dirty in the show. She’s so badass in this comic!!
They really did! And I thought the scene with Ross was great but wasted. The show had enough episodes to let reveals sink in and have consequence but the writers rushed thru it so we could see Gravik be a big baddie
just wanna say budget is waving! :D
Yes... it should not been made with that budget
If it wasn’t going to be Avengers: Secret Wars then it should have been an animated film not set in the MCU. They need to do what do does with their movies that just tell a single story not set in cannon. Movies such as Gotham by Gaslight, Injustice, Long Halloween, Superman Red Son. D/C still had their DEAU but still put out movies set outside that cannon. Disney doesn’t have to make every Marvel project connected to the MCU
This was waaaaaaay better. In fact, this channel is better than the MCU, period.
Can you do Dark Reign next?
As much as I love the secret Invasion comics tbh the Disney plus show isn’t all that bad. It’s pretty decent, sure it sucks when it’s not like the comics but let’s be real here they’re never gonna do it as like the comics.

EXACTLY!!!!!
This is something I wish comic fans understood.
@@thealjohnsonshow2188 oh shiii my b, but yeah man like I’m so pumped for secret wars, but Ik it’s gonna be different, however there are some things that I feel like are necessary to be shown such as Spider-Man first getting the symbiote and Doom being the real threat in all of this and takes the beyonder’s power. @@CatManOfTaste episodes 1-5 I really enjoyed. However, the finale really didn't deliver for me, which is sad because all we really needed to make the final episode amazing was a true heart to heart between Fury and Gravick, as well as Fury owning up to what he did proper.
