@@AudioAdvice Ahh so this couldn’t high pass the main speakers, right… That’s so odd and a bummer that this unit wouldn’t have a sub out. Otherwise really loving it on paper and listened to the RS180 which was great. Hmm.. Appreciate your help
The unit ships with IR input socket, an IR cable with IR sensor and manual says to “place it in a place where remote control reception is well received. So am I correct that the remote is optionally BT or IR?
It is more of a loss of light output as you zoom out. Image quality is affected by the lens though, as some cheaper lenses do not look as clean as you get to the edge of the screen, but that will show up no matter what your zoom setting is. Thanks for watching
Hi there and thanks for the terrific review. One question I have relates to Internet Radio. I believe HiFi Rose limits the stations you can choose to their own curated collections. On my current system (the NAD M10 V2), I'm not limited and can pretty much choose anything from around the world. Do you know if the RS520 has these limitations? Thanks
Thank you. We do not think it has that limitation, the specs show access to 9900 stations. Rose does have a TH-cam option where they have their curated videos, but you can also access any YT. Thanks for watching
Does Audio Advice has these in Stock yet? I heard they where not in the US yet to order? The last 250 I had was not ready for prime time, as the software had some major issues, so I had to send it back, sadly. Going to give them a second go at it with this piece.
Not yet, they are supposed to land in December. We would appreciate it if you purchased from us to support our channel and small business. You can pre-order here www.audioadvice.com/hifi-rose-rs520-all-in-one-hi-res-audio-network-streamer+color-Silver Great screen name by the way!

They missed the boat with no subwoofer pre out. Really nice looking unit, but the Cambridge Evo 150 has a subwoofer pre out and phono stage all at a lower price point.
@@RFIDemocracy most pre outs don’t work that way. Even if it sends a full range signal to you sub, you use the sub internal crossover, but your mains are still getting a full signal, meaning you’re doubling the bass. IMO, at that price point, both a dedicated sub pre out and phono stage should be included, especially if you’re after that “all in one” market.
@@mikefranks2012 My main speakers extend to ~40hz, powered subs with ARC Genesis room correction crossed over at 30Hz. There is no doubling of bass, only some reinforcement in a frequency range which my speakers cannot reproduce. Many experts rec 80hz as a x-over point. Unnecessarily high, IMO.
@@RFIDemocracy ok, if you’re choking off your subs that low. So you’re using a sub for 25-30hz?? Lol. Otherwise you absolutely are doubling the bass. Typically you want to crossover between 60-100hz depending on how your room interacts with the bass. If you’ve ever looked at in room measurements of speakers, setting the crossovers accurately is far more complicated than going off speaker specs. Also, what if your speakers extend lower than 40hz?…. Why would you want to choke off the speakers that actually do a good job producing low frequencies? I can guarantee without even knowing your setup, that subs will produce better bass 20-160hz than your mains. Without a dedicated crossover, any portion where the speakers overlap is doubling the bass. Even if it’s just a single octave, it’s not correct or accurate and not something I would accept in a product in this price point. And this doesn’t even touch on the benefits of multi sub to handle all the bass to manage room modes. Adding additional bass from the mains is a recipe for terrible bass response.
Played the Stones track in flac 24-88, through the $120 Khadas Toneboard DAC, through the internal headphone amp of a 27 year old Kenwood KA2060R integrated amp...and the $350 Senheiser Momentum 2 headphones. Nothing expensive or fancy. Everything mentioned could be heard easily and with clarity...Yep, so much for needing a high end set up!
Amazon HD is an absolute must…integrated amps with streamer and dac that don’t have Amazon are of no interest to me. Why does a manufacturer choose some of the other small players but not include Amazon?
This retails here in Germany for nearly 4000 Euros. Really? For that money you could get a fully compatible surround sound receiver with all the bells and whistles. WLAN, Bluetooth, all the streaming services etc. Ok, no screen but who needs to spend so much extra just to have a screen 🤔
@@AudioAdvice for replying. I know exactly what you mean, but my point is you could get a good receiver for half that price, connect your iPad over wireless or bluetooth and be able to control it all anyway. Just don't think having a dedicated screen is worth that extra cash.

Audiophiles have historically eschewed EQ, the theory being that if one needs 10 bands of EQ, one has serious deficiency in one's system or acoustical environment. ie: The speakers are sub-standard or the system is installed in auditorium or another inappropriate space.
@Gord M So you saying there is no need for Dirac, Audyssey, Roon etc. Most audiophiles I know and ones on forums like to have EQ to tinker with. I listen to music mostly in two speaker Direct mode but sometimes I want to increase the bass or treble just because. To say ones system is deficient or lacking because they like to have EQ availble is strange kind of snobby.

It is pretty cool!
How does compare with the RS150b if using it as a DAC/streamer only (minus amp section)?
No subwoofer out? Can you use the pre amp out?
You can yes, then use the internal crossover in the sub and set it to where your mains roll off.
