I would guess that that verse probably is meant to be about an LGBTQ person but just to put the thought out there, you could still have disapproving parents when you and your partner are straight.
And to add on to this, nothing has been confirmed publicly but there has been moments where Joshua Basset, her ex-boyfriend (that inspired the album), has made comments suggesting he may not be exactly straight, but rather elsewhere on the spectrum of sexuality. When I learned this and re-listened to the album, it made total sense that hope ur ok was the last song. She still loves him, even if he chooses to love someone else. It reminded me of what happened when I came out to my last ex-girlfriend.

I then goes on to pretty much say keep going... you be ok and that we love you meaning you're not alone and everyone goes thru the same issues or at least similar. she passed out the letters at the brit award saying there's little time we don't live forever so you should check up on not just love ones but be there for others that or not in a good mental mindstate meaning we need to be more of a community instead of tearing down others we need to be the positive ones for others. If you look at the brutal music video. I had the design where the intro in the belle scene she is crying her tears are going downwards. This is symbolic to the meaning we are tearing her down in this song. At the end where she goes god don't know where to start the tears are going upwards. It's to symbolically say the album is about us tearing her up in otherwords fixing her up putting the pieces back together to make her whole again. I then tweeted at Dan to help her get signed with the record label on one condition that they will allow olivia to do whatever she wanted on the song. I told olivia I don't need money for fame. I told her just when she gets the grammy that by then you can tell everyone the truth and let the know I wrote he lyrics and then you can backtrack and credit me for the lyrics and visual designs of the music video. I even gave some advice on how the music should sound like the robotic hydrolic sound effect you get in deja vu. I am going through a heartbreak situation. A person I deeply loved, a boy younger than me. He’s 20 and I am 27. I wanted to believe it’d work, reaching age 27 having already had a few relationships, I would tell myself « julien this is your last chance at giving and receiving love, you’re kinda reaching a point where if a heartbreak would occur it’d leave you empty in every way. Nothing more to give, nothing more to receive (which makes me think of the movie call me by your name where the father of Élio has a conversation with the latest when Oliver leaves). I relate to Olivia’s lyrics « with my holes in my butterflies wings » cause obv I know where I come from I know that my wounded past and wounded self would eventually makes everything to crumble in this relationship at some point and it did. But also he moved on 3 months after we broke up (« couple weeks » with Olivia). He said he’s found the one. And there is a duality in my head where I am like « i am sincerely happy for you » but also « I hope you don’t be happier ». Also how can a person fall in love so quickly after a break up unless maybe there were not in love in the first place and that brings you to the song « enough for you » where you kind reminisce on what you did who you were how you acted in the relation ship. But then after you even try everything to reach out for them absolutely begging for them to come back and that his only response to that was “you might wanna kill yourself and leave me alone, I wish you never existed” you start to feel like the song “your favorite crime” : i was already wounded by my past but you kinda exploit those voids and scars, but you did commit yet an other crime on my wretched wounded broken heart. You realize you are enough who you are and that because of these insecurities you have you let the person take you to a place where basically you believed in the words “kill yourself” cause our love was dead. And I wished to be dead as long with it. But then with the last song I think Olivia kinda zoom out of herself as a person and as a wounded person and sees what else exists around her, who else she knew, who else she can give her sympathy to, who else she can actually truly feel sorry for then cause there were also wounded. So I think she’s saying I am wounded and heartbroken but I am not the only one. The song reminds me is “seven” by Taylor Swift. Anyway, I think it’s the longest EVER comment I’ve met on a TH-cam video, but not the first one ever in your channel. Basically, even at 27 like I am I can really relate to Olivia Rodriguo’s record album “Sour”, it’s an album of that moment of when you need acceptance in your feelings and emotions, that moment where you regain confidence even if it’s forced or “I hate you with a smile on my face”, that moment where you understand the duality in the post break up/RS, that moment when your understand their crime and that moment when you eventually zoom out and see what else is around you and move on. It's a nice album. A little simple in lyric and melody, and she mines the same themes in almost every song, but it's clear she's talented. (It's also clear who's influenced her.) Sweet voice, but not syrupy, a little bit of an edge, and she's not afraid to yell. I guess the thing that I most appreciate about the album is the fact that it's absolutely, positively, entirely not 'urban-influenced'...which means it's different from almost all current material released by female singer-songwriters. There's a maturity, an assuredness, a confidence about her that belies her age, her storytelling perspective (experience). I think my rating for the album might have been higher had she been able to venture out into other lyrical settings; guess that's something to look forward to. But I give her credit for not just being influenced by artists like Taylor or Billie or Ms Martinez, but also the pop stars of the 70s...before everything went digital.

I think Olivia was about 17 at the time she was making this album
I am going through a heartbreak situation. A person I deeply loved, a boy younger than me. He’s 20 and I am 27. I wanted to believe it’d work, reaching age 27 having already had a few relationships, I would tell myself « julien this is your last chance at giving and receiving love, you’re kinda reaching a point where if a heartbreak would occur it’d leave you empty in every way. Nothing more to give, nothing more to receive (which makes me think of the movie call me by your name where the father of Élio has a conversation with the latest when Oliver leaves). I relate to Olivia’s lyrics « with my holes in my butterflies wings » cause obv I know where I come from I know that my wounded past and wounded self would eventually makes everything to crumble in this relationship at some point and it did. But also he moved on 3 months after we broke up (« couple weeks » with Olivia). He said he’s found the one. And there is a duality in my head where I am like « i am sincerely happy for you » but also « I hope you don’t be happier ». Also how can a person fall in love so quickly after a break up unless maybe there were not in love in the first place and that brings you to the song « enough for you » where you kind reminisce on what you did who you were how you acted in the relation ship. But then after you even try everything to reach out for them absolutely begging for them to come back and that his only response to that was “you might wanna kill yourself and leave me alone, I wish you never existed” you start to feel like the song “your favorite crime” : i was already wounded by my past but you kinda exploit those voids and scars, but you did commit yet an other crime on my wretched wounded broken heart. You realize you are enough who you are and that because of these insecurities you have you let the person take you to a place where basically you believed in the words “kill yourself” cause our love was dead. And I wished to be dead as long with it. But then with the last song I think Olivia kinda zoom out of herself as a person and as a wounded person and sees what else exists around her, who else she knew, who else she can give her sympathy to, who else she can actually truly feel sorry for then cause there were also wounded. So I think she’s saying I am wounded and heartbroken but I am not the only one. The song reminds me is “seven” by Taylor Swift.
Anyway, I think it’s the longest EVER comment I’ve met on a TH-cam video, but not the first one ever in your channel. Basically, even at 27 like I am I can really relate to Olivia Rodriguo’s record album “Sour”, it’s an album of that moment of when you need acceptance in your feelings and emotions, that moment where you regain confidence even if it’s forced or “I hate you with a smile on my face”, that moment where you understand the duality in the post break up/RS, that moment when your understand their crime and that moment when you eventually zoom out and see what else is around you and move on.

It's a nice album. A little simple in lyric and melody, and she mines the same themes in almost every song, but it's clear she's talented. (It's also clear who's influenced her.) Sweet voice, but not syrupy, a little bit of an edge, and she's not afraid to yell. I guess the thing that I most appreciate about the album is the fact that it's absolutely, positively, entirely not 'urban-influenced'...which means it's different from almost all current material released by female singer-songwriters. Hallelujah. (I'll confess that the youthful spirit that runs through her music reminded me of this: th-cam.com/video/RCTMTflcuug/w-d-xo.html N.B. I'm not saying she _sounds_ like her. Just that I was reminded of Melanie, if only for the whimsy.)

@@Luscent So I'm going to adjust my opinion a little. Since making my comment, I've listened to the album three times. There's a maturity, an assuredness, a confidence about her that belies her age, her storytelling perspective (experience). I think my rating for the album might have been higher had she been able to venture out into other lyrical settings; guess that's something to look forward to. But I give her credit for not just being influenced by artists like Taylor or Billie or Ms Martinez, but also the pop stars of the 70s...before everything went digital.
@@Luscent People reference Taylor all the time, but if you want to get a peek at the sort of songsmith and entertainer she has the potential to become, think Sara Bareilles. (In a way, this kind of talk is silly, given Olivia's age. But gazing into a crystal ball has always been a good way to pass the time, right?)
