- Starting Monday, Vice President Harris embarks on a tour across multiple states, spotlighting economic prospects for Black Americans. This initiative aims to engage a key voter group for the Democrats as the November election approaches.
The tour, dubbed the Economic Opportunity Tour, launches in Atlanta and heads to Detroit next week. Harris plans to highlight the Biden administration’s commitment to nurturing small businesses, boosting employment, easing student debt, and expanding access to affordable housing.

That net worth thing was a result of housing prices sky rocketing. So those of us that actually have homes have seen a huge rise in our equity and net worth. However whites have also seen almost as big a jump in net worth as well so the gap hasn't really closed by much at all. We still have about 15k for every 100k of white wealth.

Yeah, we got all manner of economic empowerment zones and tools and talk after the Los Angeles "riots" in 1992. Most of that money ended up in the pockets of "community leaders" and other entrepreneurs in other ethnic groups largely because too few of the Blacks who wanted to open businesses had the skills to launch those endeavors. Also, the monies provided were often loans for which the Black folks seeking them could not qualify. So, their Korean counterparts got them. Many in the other ethnic groups were more recent immigrants and had been able to take advantage of their (mythological) status as "model minorities". Too, they had family members or informal ethnic associations with established businesses to lend support as sponsors. (The loans were, after all, earmarked for "minorities".)
My point is, this time around, it might be wise to create specific goals and target contemporary Rosa Parks-types who can actually make the thing work. Then scale up. Otherwise, twenty years from now, we will be applauding yet another economic empowerment initiative targeting African Americans and blah, blah, blah.
Final thought: Careful what you ask for as you may wish to amend your wording but it's too late.

You want to empower give the prisoners who will be released opportunity to receive true rehabilitation while incarcerated federally funded job training for welding, masonry, various mechanics, carpentry and so forth licensed skills. These mostly young people need investment and opportunity. A final chance to get out of the circular prison pipeline.
Especially those whom she put in jail.
