    I'm an estp and you pretty much nailed it!
    One my favorite quote is from Maya Angelou saying, if you don't like something change it, if you can't change it, change your attitude, but don't complain!
    That's pretty much how I see things in life, living in the present and trying to make the best out of it!

      I love that quote! I think Maya Angelou is an ENFJ

    ESTP here. Totally agree on the "if you can do something to change it and you don't, don't complain about it" thing. Also the uselessness of worrying about / crying over things you can't change.

    I would say that ESTPs too know how to work hard and play hard. Their attitude to me is badassery to the core. One of my best friends is an ESTP. I waste time worrying about what I should do, while he just goes out there and does it. Super honest, direct and cheerful person. His authenticity is something stunning and I'm proud to call him my friend =)
    Do ESFP next ^^

    First of all thank you for understanding us/me so well, I feel like a lot of especially the FJ types see us as complete jerks or assholes whenever we give advice rather than emotional support, they confuse that lack of not putting emotions first for being insensitive and unaware of peoples feelings, we see the emotion and see how it makes you run in circles around a difficult situation and better yet know that the solution lies away from it(the feelings). That feelings are to be felt because it is who we are but its only by thinking outside our emotions can we see the best fit for a situation, and only then do we incorporate our emotions to the solution. I dont know if that makes sense but it is undisputed, again thank you for seeing us, I was wondering whether my INFJ girlfriend will ever stop seeing me as selfish and self centered, you are hope that she will see me completely for who I am. Thank you

    I have two sisters one is an isfj an one is an estp,as an infp who pretty much lives in a dream world I just don't know what
    would happen if I didn't have them in my life.
    My estp sister is the first person I call when I'm struggling with how to do something ,in a split second she will give me one very affective solution.
    As a person with an se blind spot what I've learned from my estp sister is how to appreciate the present moment because if I give in to my ne and my introverted nature I will never see the present moment. What I love about estps is how true to themselves they are ,they (or at least my sister ) don't take things personally and always know how to turn any situation in their favor.

    Entrepreneur checking in. You are for the most part right. There are differences between estp’s and maturity matters. Im 29 and I can confirm that we are risk takers with no regard of what other people think. I have the perfect job where I am my own boss. This gives me the freedom i need to solve problems effectively. We are passionate and we sometimes combat boredom by piling on even more risky activity. My best friend is also a so called entrepreneur”. We’ve been best friends for 27 years and we always have a blast. Institutions like school is intolerable to me. I have never had a plan and I have always fixed problems as I go. To more reserved people we may come across as incentive bastards, not everyone can handle the face to face direct approach. We mean well, and we are definitely misunderstood by many. Life is fun don’t dwell on things you cannot change. Cheers from Norway.

    estp here. I describe myself very generous to people who I love. I want to do whatever I can to help them, even though they don't ask for help. When they are with me, I make sure they enjoy themselves and having a good time. I also like to encourage them to try new things. And I only show my sensitive side and real feelings to people who I trust. I like to say to people "if you never try then you will never know".
    Not sure about other ESTPs, but for me I am extremely impulsive. When I have an idea or something I can't stop thinking about, I have to do it no matter how people say this is crazy, it's too much risk. There are many times I don't have any expectations or plans for things I am getting myself into, and I just jump in, improvise with whatever will come to me.
    Many times if we think too much, we will get fear for things we are about to do. So I like to tell people stoping thinking so much just do it, whether it will work or not, it is life.

    Thank you for appreciating us ESTP's! I love how you've discussed the reasons why we act and think because it really is all rational - emotions are out of the question. I was with two friends today at the beach and a bunch of other people I didn't know. My friends were eating food with them in which they were distracted by their phones and my friends weren't getting the attention they deserve. I notice this behaviour instantly about people and their ego, so I don't even focus on those people. I am always looking for something stimulating and if that means running up and down the beach alone, so be it. My friends kept begging me to stay but we weren't truly satisfied even if they didn't really realise it and I knew we could have way more of a bubbly conversation between ourselves. But in understanding that self control/patience needed to be practiced, I stayed for a few minutes longer doing nothing and eventually my friends figured out what I was able to instantly notice. We left, got burgers and had enlightening conversation.

      @amomentofbeing 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      exactly, we estpq can notice if someone is with us immediatly and wont waste time on people who are not important. and we are also okay with just leaving the situation. we wont overthink what others may think about us.

    A bit too much "go for it dude" is assumed for most IMO, that's a bit of stereotype. We do consider things carefully, at least the smart ones LOL.
    But you are correct about the ability to accept what is real and what isn't. We don't like spending a lot of time/energy on hopeless causes. We tend to see a lot of N thinking as being hopelessly naive, unrealistic or romantic, therefore to automatically think "So how the frick is that going to happen?" That can come off as "Debbie Downer" to some, but more often, as we have some Fe, we learn to shut up and try not to roll our eyes. OTOH, if we get behind your idea, we can be supportive allies.
    BTW my spouse is ENFJ.

    • @MeghaMuse
      @MeghaMuse  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, "go for it' is a stereotype, BUT you'd be surprised how much people struggle with this when ESTPs just don't tend to struggle with taking action when they want to.

    • @MrLuigiFercotti
      @MrLuigiFercotti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I'm probably a lot more contemplative than most ESPs, and think that I tend to "overthink" things. OTOH, from an outside perspective, I would guess that I seem fairly true to type.

    ESTP female here and I love you. Good mix of S and N types in my circles but always drawn irresistibly to N as I feel they help me grow and their unique and otherworldly insights give me a Ti thrill and perk my often nihilistic Ni ears up. I think you are 100% right - we have huge hearts and strong values, and our compassion and help of others is genuine in its delivery as it is adapted with Ti, delivered with Fe, and anchored in Se realism. I laugh to think Donald is an ESTP but who cares if he is.. There are villains in every type and maybe not such a surprise one of ours is so obnoxious ;) I get my kicks out of helping people in my whirlwind fashion but maintaining my independence. Not afraid of pushing boundaries or making people uncomfortable however. ESTPs can be very polarising. What are your thoughts on sx/sc/sp variants and the types’ predispositions to them? Keep posting bby g x

    Hello Meghan! Thanks for the positive words on an ESTP. Most people dont appreciate that we try to make the world a better place, regardless of the toes we step on. The truth hurts but its still the truth and the faster you accept it, the faster you can move on and improve!
    It wasnt until a couple years ago when i learned that i was an ESTP and i learned why i thought and acted like i did. I grew up thinking i was a bit crazy. In my teens and 20's, i didnt give a shit what anybody thought about me. I would also go out of my way to help someone. Being blunt and having no filter was an understatement. Also i was somewhat reckless and was always looking to have a good time and wanted others to have a good time.... Now that im in my late 30's, i care more about the relationships of the people around me and im more driven in my business. Im still blunt and honest but with a little more tact. After several motorcycle wrecks, im less of a risk taker but still if im not pursuing a fun life then im dying inside. Hope this helps from another ESTP perspective!
    The "16 personalities test" really helped me and i would encourage all to go there and just read about the types to understand others and not judge there character.

    I watched this video a few years ago (when I was ill and didn't have any energy to live my life) and just rewatched it. You are spot on. I feel NFs get us. Also, I've had a couple of great fun friendships with ESFPs. I am literally in the process of fixing my life , doing what I can, leaving the rest, and " trusting the process" only using my energy on my plan and people I value. Thank you for this video, your explanation will help those who think we are heartless or cold when in fact we care A LOT.

    As an ESTP I sincerely want to thank you for this video. I acknowledge sometimes we can be so focused on what our Se and Ti tell us is the concrete, clear solution right in front of us that we can forget not everyone else will see the solutions and necessary actions we believe will solve a problem. I'm so used to seeing stereotypes of us as party animals who are super insensitive, but they miss the intricacies you detail in this video. So again, thank you for such an insightful, and frankly thoughtful, video!

    ESTP here I greatly enjoyed watching this video. A lot of the information hit home for me. A lot of what you communicated showed the best side of this personality type. However, I think it's also important to recognize the complexities as well. For example, Estps can use their secondary functions whenever they want to. However, when they're isolated or not given the freedom that they need, the can become manipulative and or chronically stuck in overthinking. I really appreciate your thoughts!

  • @GerricaHightower
    @GerricaHightower 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This was a great video. Really spot on for me as an estp. I appreciate you shining insightful light on some of the traits that aren't maybe the best but it's just how we are. For example, I don't always feel the necessity to sugarcoat things, because I don't think it will be helpful and I don't have that kind of time, but I also don't think I take other's peoples feelings into account when I'm being blunt. On one hand, I want to get to the point and move on and as I grow a newer part of me wishes I had more empathy for how other people internalize things I say. It's hard because I don't always understand sensitive people. It's something I've been working on and this video helped me understand these points and have a little validation on some of the better traits.

    ESTP here. I got into the MBTI to help with sales. 2 years later I am now killing it at sales! Basically when you're confident at just being a conqueror. You come across too blunt. But if you can tell if you're dealing with an ENTJ or an ESTJ in a sales meeting you'll know how to navigate the conversation.

    The way you were choking means there is something that was said to you by an ESTP that deeply affected you; hopefully it was a positive one.
    You do realise ESTP listens more and asks more questions about yourself rather than them talking unless there is a story of their experience which is related to yours.
    ESTP does a lot of profiling once engaged in conversations for the best way to approach an individual in future.
    Great video.

      I am glad someone mentioned this and actually used the word profiling :D because thats 110% what I am doing with all of my interactions (unless in the rare case I am really really tired and not so interested for the moment).
      I d like to add to the fact that we try to see the world around us as it truely is that we are very curious to find out more about it. I know that with my natural tendencies as ESTP I am viewing things differently then other types. Getting their insight simply on how others perceive their surroundings (as wrong as I might personally think they could be) because it helps me to understand the "truth" the other person is experiencing.

    I recently become close friends with someone and they have this personality type (maybe a mixture of another...they are not 100% sure). I am ENFJ.
    Usually I make close friendships with introverts, so this was a suprise. So far I love their honesty, spontaneous energy, deeply caring nature towards their friends and loved ones, and drive to make life good for their family and themselves.
    They balance out my introspective "what if" and worries about future and uncontrollable possibilities. They keep me grounded in the here and now whilst we can also dream together for the future. Its really fun and very reassuring

    I so agree. Just told my best friend's boyfriend he was ESTP and he read the 16 personalities profile and didn't jive with it and was kind of sad haha but when I read it I said I thought it was pretty inaccurate to what those functions mean. ESTP guy 100% fits what you said in this video, however. He has a way of not letting people whine, but not because he's being mean or bullying about it, more just that he's able to divert the whining person's attention to a positive opportunity in the moment.

    _"Next comes the implementer of beta quadra - SLE, the Marshall - the organizer, volitional sensing type. He pushes forward not with emotions, but with resources i.e. he finds resources for implementation. People have already been mobilized and organized (this was the mission of EIE) and now resources are needed to make plans and ideas materialize. Nothing can happen without sensorics."_

    I was married to ESTP for 30!years . He was a wonderful man. He got “driven” after loosing his job. His anger got the better of him. It caused our family to break down because this type must win at all cost. This is great as a couch or CEO attorney, but in a family as a husband and father they are like a bulldozer and if you are a “feeler”. I suggest you make sure you have a very independent and financially secure self. These personalities seek self then team. Feelers seek team then self. I have learned the hard way both are Great. But if you don’t understand ESTP, have a strong sense of self and want them to focus on the family before their NEED to drive in success in the outer world, you will misunderstand both greatness in a self driven for the team vs team driven for self.

      Are you sure he was an ESTP? Your description sounds more like ESTJ or ENTJ who have inferior Fi, so don't care about their own feelings let alone someone else's. The ESTP I know dislikes when my emotionality (I'm an INFP) throws him into his feeling mode because he can't navigate his Fi very well. We tend to lock horns in such situations. But most of the time can be very emotionally supportive and caring, and definitely cares about family and friends more than career (though this is important too).

    Hi and thanks for the kind words about us ESTPs. I think you managed to nail pretty much all the nice aspects of our personality but would have liked to hear more about the negatives. I have been married to my ENTJ wife for 20+ years and and boy does it help to have another thinker to team up with, by which I mean someone who thinks more than 15 min ahead 😉.

    12:28 I recognize that prayer! Here's what I searched up on Wikipedia:
    _The Serenity Prayer is the common name for a prayer written by the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr[1][2] (1892-1971). The best-known form is:_
    _"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,_
    _Courage to change the things I can,_
    _And wisdom to know the difference."_

    INFJ watching just studying MBTI and doing comparisons to my own type. I have dubbed ESTPs as INFJ's shadow side, not opposite (that would be ESTJ) to see how my cognitive functions act in reverse.
    And just wanna say, you're amazing. They say these 4 types (ESTP, ESTJ, & ENFJ, & ENFP) always ending having the best chemistry and compatibility with INFJs as extroverted companions of some sort.
    Watched your videos for a while and I remember you talking about your INFJ girlfriend. Hope you guys are still meshing. How would you feel about an updated interpretation of your views on my type. I know we can be extremely private to the point of obscurity, and nervously ask our partners to fall off the grid with us, but I don't think I've heard you mention her aside from that one video.
    But anyways hiiiii! Thank you for great content and I hope everything is awesome for you. Namaste.

    Hi, Im from Poland and I dont know how I get to this video, but I just wanted to say is you are 10/10 right about ESTPs. But paralel You are saying truth about ESTPs, We can play with life too, play with destroying people to build them from scratch again. Sometimes temptation of new experience put us in very uncomfortable position, corner which can destroy us. Reason why We can survive difficulties, which would destroy other personality types, is what I got from my experience - talent to adapt Yourself to people around You, new job, stress. If ESTP is enough experienced with they weeknesses They can be whatever They want to.

    I am an ESTP, I'm only typing to let you know we exist. The text below is my experience as an ESTP, but my quick response for you: I type my mom is an ENFJ and she worries a lot to the point of creating conspiracy theories putting other's loyalty into question... Its pretty suffocating, I'd say. lol Keep ya head up you're doing great with this channel if it somehow popped in my recommended. (:
    Since you asked where could my type be: I'm often caught up in the early stages of content creation and community building which is a cold hard reality a lot of people are too lazy to do for themselves or wait until they suddenly blow up. (My anecdote comes from the gaming space. I don't know how real it is outside the sphere.)
    Anyways, I only learned I was an ESTP in the last year 'cause I never cared about typology until recently going through the rabbit hole and shifting information. The more I looked into it, the more I accepted that its pretty helpful information as long as one ignores the crap information available out there, plus whatever I am doing generally helps me defuse a situation much more efficiently using typology. Quite often it is all about how one says things that'll determine whether you're listened to or ignored.
    As for me, I had a semi-identity crisis since all Templar types are known to mirror and in various ways I believe I did mirror an INFJ lover. Fast forward many years later I became determined to will myself out of depression and seek out my purpose which as only recently led me to typology since I never really tried it. Now I'm hoping to better myself since I have NO EXCUSES lol!

    words like this actualy makes me feel alot better, think about myself as estp better
    imho all this very true. i always been like "if you can change it- stop whining and change it. if you can not- calm down and try something else or make it less crapier". its like..use a simple logic. "did you loose your phone? did you check every possible places? did you asked people? so dont worry" . also think that there are no bad people. every bad deed/action has its reasons. so even my worse apponent can be my friend after "battle"
    also about friends and partys. i am such a party mom...or dad? if i see someone get bored ill try to fix it. i watch everyone get their drinks and snacks as it should be. everyone havin a good time, everything is right
    one cool skill estps have- almost never fall on ice or crush my head into lampposts or such. bc of Se i suppose?
    (sorry for misstapes and bad grammatic)

    This video (and a few of the comments) are.. sort of emotionally disrupting me. (Not that that was anyone’s intent). My heart started to pound, my adrenaline started to surge, and I began to breathe shorter faster breaths.
    I briefly dated an individual whom I very heavily suspect is ESTP, while at the same time, displaying definite narcissistic traits. This individual was emotionally abusive toward me - and I keep trying to understand and go back to learn as much as I can. Thankfully, I wasn’t in the relationship for very long.
    This is coming from someone the complete opposite - an INFJ. I will say, I took on some of the “hardness” of this person. It’s..been an interesting and hard year. I..don’t think I can even finish this video. I already need a break. Regardless, thank you for your informative insight.

    What is Trump if he’s not an ESTP? I relate to him a LOT and I’m an ESTP. It’s also worth noting that enneagram can make a big difference. Having met 7w6 and 8w7 (Trump) ESTPs it’s just not the same (I’m 7w8). Like many have said, he probably has NPD and BPD.

    Do immature ENFJs manipulate their partners to get a reaction? Do they purposefully try to incite jealousy on their partners or do things that they know would piss off their partners for whatever reason? Thank you.

    • @cosmicshen88
      @cosmicshen88 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Underlying Motivations currently what is happening with an ENFJ I just started talking to. Which is why I’m researching and landed on this comment which rectified that he is trying to incite jealousy and now I’m not texting him. What a dick!

    • @underlyingmotivations313
      @underlyingmotivations313 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. A relationship should be built on mutual trust and understanding, without the needs of petty games for attention or whatever. Dump those ENFJs.

    • @kroberts6033
      @kroberts6033 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm an ENFJ and I would literally NEVER do that. I don't like jealousy in people. I might try to bug someone if they bug me but don't take the initiative on this either.

    • @underlyingmotivations313
      @underlyingmotivations313 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kim Roberts Care to elaborate a little bit more on the ''bugging someone if they bug me?'' Does that mean if someone, for instance, stops talking to you, do you answer back with those petty tactics? Or if there is something that you want and that is bugging you, do you appeal to the jealousy tactic in order to get the attention or whatever that you want?

    • @kroberts6033
      @kroberts6033 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Underlying Motivations I meant, for example, retaliate if someone is teasing me I might tease them back. If I don't care about them I doubt I would even do this. I suppose the teasing back would just be to let them know not to engage me in that way bc i find it irritating. Yes this is passive aggressive I realize. I might also just tell them how it hit me. Don't get me wrong I like a little teasing but there's a limit to everything.
