    Its the SimFox! If I bring my 1/4 scale Tri Pacer to Edgewater, can we fly it with this? That would be so cool!

    With a Headtracker it would be more perfect. But it's really really nice done!

      That would be 👌🏻

      How would that even work?

    • @22Tech
      @22Tech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i think if you could transmit a near 180 degree spherical view, and then when you turn your head just show slightly different parts of the view. that would be cool. no need for a tilting camera of any kind

    • @DesertFernweh
      @DesertFernweh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@22Tech you would have to have something with good graphic power on it to process all that in realtime. It's possible just going to be complex to configure that. Unless some one has already done it.

    • @Jakob-hj8es
      @Jakob-hj8es 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DesertFernwehthere are ready to use sets, it's a transmitter on your goggles, wich talks to a reciver for that, or flight controller or so. Than you only need two servos for the gimbal on the camera.
      And I mean when they can build such a nice simulator chair, this can't be a problem.

    Maybe at a fan that is linked to the trottle to simulate the windspeed.

      With a castor oil and petrol soaked rag attached to the fan and a bb gun firing bb's at your dome to simulate bug splats.
      Some IC engine noise would really help with immersion too.

    The market for damaged kit airframes is about to change.

    • @tananam9782
      @tananam9782 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not a new idea, turning damaged fuselages into simulators. Used to control R/C, I'm sure someone must have tried it, but that's less common.
      I'm glad they're doing it though. It'll be interesting to see how they accomplish "full motion."

  • @alisioardiona727
    @alisioardiona727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    That's crazy ! You should definitely put a vibration generator that increases in frequency with the throttle so it sends sounds and vibration through the metal structure making it very realistic !

      @@bubblezovlove7213 whoa. You have a cool idea there.
      You hang it from the ceiling, and then you put a big weight at the bottom so it's fairly stable when the controls are level. But then you move the weight around below you by moving the controls.

      I was thinking about this... you'd really need to do a LOT of work to make this happen, but it is totally possible. There may be some hacky options, like having a second set of motors/cables that apply the countering force, but you're really getting into "closed-loop" control mechanisms if you want to achieve that, and that makes everything expensive. It's why most small scale CNC machines use stepper motors and 'dead reckoning', while the big boys use servos with closed-loop control mechanisms (i.e. systems that ask, "I applied X input, did I achieve the desired output? If not, increase input." Humans do this with their brains, but machines do this with a lot of seemingly-ancillary parts. The good news is that all this can live on the ground and shouldn't increase the weight of the plane. Adding wind instruments (i.e. pitot tube) to the model could help with realism, but between GPS, gyros, accs, throttle, altitude, etc, you should be able to dial things in for good realism.

    In the decade of the 90s there were three or four Bars around the south San Francisco Bay that featured "Flight Simulators" for the customers. Each location had only four to six fully-enclosed units, so you sat with your buds at the bar or in a booth awaiting your turn, fortifying self with courage from a stein or bottle. The monitors were top notch for the time, graphics certainly as good as any Silicon Graphics or Sun Microsystems monitors I had worked with in the games industry...likely less expensive. You could choose from several battle scenarios, including carrier launches & trap landings.
    But for some reason, whoever designed the simulator BOX, placed the monitors down just beyond your toe tips. Maybe they worked out that drunken customers would get their greasy, ketchup-stained fingers on the monitors and mess up the screens.
    At home I had a couple of macs with just a mouse and a wacom tablet for personal projects and a few games. But I knew folks who'd bought steering wheels and foot pedals for racing games.
    One day I walked into an Army-Navy Surplus store in San Jose, and saw a Navy fighter jet EJECTION SEAT for under $400. I almost bought the thing on the spot.
    *_TEMPTATION._* I had to turn around and exit the store. But I knew I could NEVER EVER again make fun of someone else's extravagant hobby spending...

    If the view of camera could be move by pilot’s head, that will be awesome, you could seen the pilot wants to look around by head.

    Hang it with some winches to lower and raise a little if you're climbing or diving and could make it really fun haha

    I think you need to have Peter help you add hydraulics to the FPV chair and connect a second reciever up to those hydraulics using a Arduino uno . That way which ever way you steer your plane you actually feel like you are in the plane. Just a thought.
