I was pretty blown away not just by Allyson's story, but the way she tells it. It's interesting to think about her in the context of other superstar athletes who made big, sometimes risky, decisions. She opted to have her brother represent her and broke away from the established agencies, just like LeBron James did with Rich Paul. Lots to explore here with a new generation of outspoken athletes taking more control of their own off-field, off-court, off-track destiny.
What a great interview! Thank you for sharing it. Allyson Felix is a champion in sports and in life. Through track-and-field, she found her true purpose--not only as an Olympic athlete, but also as a businesswoman and activist. Kudos to Allyson Felix.
Thats how you do it bravo Ayllson Felix! Create your own you dont need Nike you have name recognition, Gold Medals and resources. I wish you much success
Awesome athlete on & off the field! There’re things I wasn’t aware of before this interview! I know she’ll be just as successful now as she was an athlete!
I ordered 3 pairs for women in my family just because Allyson Felix is somebody who represented her country with honour and always carried herself with the utmost pride and dignity who did it the right way.
She’s a living legend off and on the track. Thanks to her Nike now have back pedal and changed their whole trajectory of manipulating women in sports, giving them maternity compensation. I am happy her brand is getting bigger and more recognized. Congratulations Ms. Felix❤❤❤
She is one of the greatest Olympic track athletes of our time, perhaps the greatest ever. I believe a majority of her races, especially early in her career, were clean. Meaning she did not take any performance enhancing drugs (EPO, amphetamines, steroids, blood doping, etc.) to compete in races where her competitors were taking those drugs. I can't think of too many other athletes who were so gifted, so skilled, and so dedicated that they could dominate without the wonders of modern pharmacological intervention.
Track and Field athletes, Olympians and sports world wide; do you see how beautiful her skin is…no tattoos! That’s class that can’t be matched, if you do.
We need to reform running into a financially lucrative career so that runners don’t have to solely depend on shoe companies for salaries and sponsors. Unfortunately running bosses want to preserve its culture even when it keeps the runners so broke.
I still dont get it...why did Nike snub her? Shelly ann fraser pryce also had a baby and Nike kept sponsoring her and she want on to make even faster times after her baby....
BRAVO you did it your way and you and your brother MADE IT HAPPEN Mind blowing that women's shoes were made from a mould that was built on a mans foot! Bless you
Am I alone in thinking Nike backdoored Allyson for leaving and used industry political pressure to discourage other shoe rivals from making her an offer?
Nike routinely undervalues athletes in the less popular sports - women, men...makes no difference. That's not exactly a shocker. Look at their parting ways with Roger Federer in 2018 after 20 years rather than pay him on the same scale as someone like LeBron James. They repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot - pun intneded.
I don’t get why there isn’t more focus on Nike constantly being on the wrong side of issues. They were the last major brand to drop Oscar Pistorius. They cancelled the deal with Kyrie yet in the same breath they stood by Cristiano Ronaldo. And this, the brand harm they cause themselves by failing to make basic PR decisions at a minimum needs to be studied
@mack-uv6gn it would. But, at least right now, she is trying to get her shoes off and running. So I think right now she should focus on the one thing. When she gets truly established, then I think she can expand if she wants to.
What type of pregnancy is she describing? and what are the complications with the maternity ward that she is describing? I never had any kids & I don't understand her lingo.

The focus on black women athletes rather than women athletes is quite shameful and that's kind of racism. Should have focused on women athletes as they also feel the same way
Amy, it’s obvious you haven’t experienced racism! Anyway, do a little research on the extensive study on Black women (done by Whites) and the medical field, and you’ll find out how racism is practiced in the medical field! But I’m not going to waste my time on ignorance. Allyson Felix is a role model both and off the field!! Intelligent thinking people will see the value of what she’s saying and doing, both Black, White, and ALL women!!❤
I see first hand the inequalities in black maternal care.😢 . I see where 90% of the bad outcomes were for black babies for a period of time even though black patients make up 1% of births. This is sad . Thankfully more eyes are open to this and we are making strategic changes to make things better. Overall the staff is not ‘racist’ maybe , but they have ingrained biases that impact the decisions they make and sadly they don’t realize that.
I AM so extremely proud of you Miss Felix. I will support your brand.

So articulate and intelligent, Ally is a true champion.

I love everything Allyson represents! She is the best of America.
Selfless hero who made impacts way beyond herself. Always rooted for her and always will!
Very beautiful interview 😍
One Love, from this Jamaican Miss Allyson!

Always loved Allyson. She is a class action. I hope she is very successful in this endeavor also.
Alison, I’m so proud of your accomplishments and the pathway that you have created for women.😊
I admire her even more. ❤❤❤

Bless you
What a class act!!!
My favorite athlete of alll time
Awesome interview 👏🏾
A truly CLEAN talented athlete.
Shame on Nike
I like how he tried to make it about race and she didnt take the bait.
It is about race. It totally changes the game and shifts the balance of power when black entertainers create their own brand/company.
@@srose2003 There is only a "balance of power" if you are a racist.
Wow, she IS AMAZING ❤
She's simply amazing.
I'm going to buy your shoes for my daughter my daughter-in-law and my wife and my other daughter-in-law and grand daughter immediately
Respect to Allyson Felix
Some no female executives at Nike have never given birth? Unbelievable.
So inspiring !! thanks for this
My fav female track star ever
She is the best
Allyson Felix, I love you. You truly inspire others.

Go Allison!
Bananas level mindset in Allyson Felix.
Super inspiring!!!
Well done Allyson…well done.
BTW…the interviewer that bullied teenage Venus? He’s learnt to ask the right questions?
Brilliant!!
No other way to say it: Nike really f'ed up here. They had a chance to shine and they somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
❤lovely how you and your family worked together to build your brand
were can i purchase the shoe!!!
Well done Queen Allyson.
When she said abouy Osaka, the issue of abortion popped in my mind, on how it just only focuses on being successful for women
For Sure this is Your Calling AF
This is the exact kind of thing That positions Black people to lead in!
Keep Going There are lots to do!

She should have a men’s shoe offering. Don’t leave money on the table Allyson
I wouldn't disagree with that. My husband asked about that when I bought my first pair.

NICU sounds like some kind of intensive care unit. Assuming baby was premature.

It is. But is also appropriate to consider that white women will get a deal with Nike. Not due to racism but because they have a large audience.
