Just with 2 instruments and you can tell it's Mozart.

Ma che meraviglia!! Come si sposano bene i timbri di violoncello e fagotto ❤️❤️

Can't wait to add this to the recommended listening list for my students. So glad to have more great bassoon music on TH-cam. Thanks George!

The Eastman School Symphony was playing Tchaikowsky 5th that week so we improvised that cadenza for the benefit of the students in the audience...

@@HKL8683 I picked out the first four notes of the 3rd movement of Beethoven's 9th as well. It reminded me of PDQ there for just a second! By the way, I did see Schickele playing the bassoon at a PDQ Bach concert maybe 40 years ago. You're somewhat better at it, I think.

@@ronm3245 Ron, Peter Schickele wrote a bassoon concerto for me in 1998. Search it on TH-cam and you will find my recording of that very nice and jazzy concerto.

This Mozart piece is also beautiful with horn and euphonium, arranged by Dave Werden

I came across this video because my bassoon coach wants me to work on this piece, and I was blown away. Awesome playing! And was that duo cadenza in the 3rd movement totally improvised, or did the players work it out beforehand? Either way it was fun to listen to. Thanks for posting this!

Sorry for the late reply... To answer your question about the cadenza, The Eastman School Symphony (the orchestra for 1st and 2nd year students) was playing Tchaikowsky 5th that week so Steve and I worked out that cadenza in rehearsal for the benefit of the students in the audience. I'm glad you enjoyed the recording.

That´s the Hendle-Edition, correct?- I loved the phrasing. The candenza was really playful- like Mozart himself!! ;)

Ariane, we were using the Henle edition but with all of my markings and dynamics of course. The Henle edition is in score form and opens up so you can have 3 pages on the stand. Very convenient except for when it falls off the stand.....
