One of the only days I’ve ever cried over sports
the only time I've cried over sports was after Superbowl 45
@Hector Rodriguez i remember it as well, we had it up in the dorm lounge in college (BYU) and one of the girls watching cried as well. She even blew her nose she was crying so much (after manning welled up with tears she started crying). There were a lot of Colts fans in my dorm.
He did break his neck and really he had to do what he had to do. BUT A AM STILL MAD THAT MY TEAM THE BEARS LOST TO THE COLTS.

If there was a guy in the modern day NFL who should've played on one team only it was Peyton. I'm glad he got to finish his career with another SB ring but really, he'll always be a Colt to me.

I remember the Day that the press conference was held, My mom let me skip school and took me to SportsCuts so I could get my haircut while I watched the press conference. Then We listened to it on the radio while we drove to Ruby Tuesdays to watch it some more. Truly some memories I will Never forget. Thank you, Peyton, for 18 years, Of thrills, chills and "OMAHA!"

Fitz should be first ballot HOF just because of the QBs he's had to work with. Outside of two good seasons out of Kurt Warner, and two and about a half out of Carson Palmer, it's been a trainwreck of QBs he's had throwing to him.

I remember being so mad at the colts when this happened. I made a post and said "wait to see what he does to you." and I am glad Peyton proved me right. They did peyton so dirty. After everything he did for them.
In retrospect I think colts did the right thing still because Peyton wasn’t sure he would play the same level again, with Luck basically right there any wise man would of did what colts did

True. I remember the picture they put up comparing Favre, Manning, and Brees for the all time metric, they put Manning in a Broncos jersey. Manning is an will always be a Colt first.
This was a tough day. I remember it vividly. I was in school, a freshman. My P.E. teacher stopped class and turned on a TV. We watched this press conference for the entire period. Very somber, but everything happens for a reason. Peyton brought so much to Indy.

I remember being in school and we were all watching this goodbye live. Such a sad day for us colts fans. Manning will always be the GOAT qb. Glad he went on to win another bowl. He definitely deserved it. Imagine if he had those patriots defenses playing for him. He would’ve won 10 rings.

One of the saddest days in indiana without Peyton there would of been no Super Bowl , no Lucas oil stadium, not only is he the best quarterback ever he is an even better human being Peyton put Indy on the map and he will forever be a colt !

And in the end Mr. P Manning aka the Sheriff got the last laugh :D He returned even better, won an MVP with the greatest season by a passer in history and delivered a SB to Denver !

This is why Peyton will always be the greatest ever -- it's not just what a great athlete does on the field. He is the GOAT both on the gridiron and in life. I cry every time I see this. Thank God the Broncos were smarter than Irsay.

Honest question to colt fans: how did you feel watching #18 retire from the game of football in Dove valley and apart of the Denver Broncos franchise? He did have a presser with the colts, but the curtain call was with Denver. No disrespect, just curious.
He'll always be a Colt to us. If he never had the neck injury, he would've retired a Colt too. It was a bad set of circumstances, but we don't blame Irsay or Manning for how the situation played out.
But, yeah, Manning will always be seen as more Colt than Bronco by Colts fans if you're asking how Colts fans feel.

I became a Colts and Broncos fan once Peyton moved there. As soon as Broncos won the SB, I knew he was going to retire. I was relieved and happy for him bc anyone could tell he had permanent changes after his neck surgery. He was stiff and you could visually see his pain which changed his style and abilities for good. I was thrilled he won the Broncos SB bc he got another one and bc I knew he could go ahead and retire, having done all he set out to do. He wanted to spend more time with his kids before he was too injured to do so
When I think Colt's quarterback, Johnny Unitas will always be first in my mind even though I realize that by the stats Manning blows him away. Still, Peyton sure is a class act, and for the Indianapolis Colts he'll always be number one.

It was truly over his injury and his body couldn't take it. I remember that's why he left this was more of a PR thing but I think something similar is happening with Antonio Brown I think alot about last but they way Payton left was a the good way where as Antonio wasn't good.

And if not for Irsay, the Colts would have had at least 2 superbowls not 1 by keeping Manning.
