    Localized heat damage at a connector is always secondary to a bad connection, producing localized power in direct proportion to the product of that local resistance and the square of current. So always start by cleaning oxidation from the connector on both sides, to reduce that resistance to as close to zero as you can. You're absolutely right to replace the connector, but if you can't get one then check later to feel for ongoing heat. Junk yards might have what you need without breaking the bank. Good video!

    So I checked mine and the connection is burnt. All the lights for heated and cooled seats function correctly and the module clicks when the heated or cooled seat buttons are pressed but nothing works. Is the click suppose to happen even though the connector is burnt? 2011 Sierra Denali. Thank you very much

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      If its burnt, then that is your issue. Even if its burnt and not working, it could still get enough power to hear a click from the relay but then it turns off because of the issues with the wires. Check out my other video I did on replacing the connector so you can fix it permanently.

    @seanybreeze315 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey guys. . . Try this cuz it worked d for me and I didn’t pay a thing.
    If you have your lumber out it’s messes with the connection of the heated seats. I flatted my seats and my lights don’t click no more. The heated seats turn on and work perfectly fine. If you need the lumber just flatten the seats and let the heated seats work it self. And then after a few minutes turn your lumbar back on. Also. I notice when sitting a certain way with the lumber on it will work but it’s kind of uncomfortable 🥴

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If that is what you need to do to get your heated seats working, I bet there is a wiring issue in the loom that goes to your seat. Must be a couple broken wires that will lose connectivity depending on how you have the seat positioned.

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the heated seat is simply a heated mat that sits between the cushion and the cover. If you have replaced the burnt connector, and the cooled seats work, then its possible that the heated mats do not work anymore. But it would be more of a coincidence that both seats dont work at the same time. Are you positive the wires are correct?

    Hey man so I tried to do this but I cannot remove one of the 10mm nuts. There’s very little space in there. Any tips? I already positioned the seat all the way high.
    Also, my seats work but they just work very very slowly. There is a burning smell when I turn the heated seats on but no smoke. There is no smoke coming from underneath the seat where this module is either. I wonder if this would be the fix for my problem and whether is should even continue. Please give me advice

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Between a swivel and the correct extension you should be able to get to the 10mm nut. Because you can smell something burning I would get that module out and look at it first. After you see what the wires and connector looks like then you can start diagnosing the issue

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @streetriderscustoms
      @streetriderscustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will not be a permanent fix. The issue is too much current going through. Ford's use the same connector and module and they use 2 positive wires which then splits the current so one doesn't overheat

      It's a corrosion issue that will return, but if you keep the corrosion off it'll be OK. Dielectric grease and / or occasional cleaning / wiggling of the plug (not a perfect solution I know). What happens is a little bit of corrosion lifts the connectors up on a point contact creating an air gap where you should have much more contact that then arcs thru the air gap as it tries to pull enough power to run the seat heater or cooler.
