Paying a premium for the Impossible patty when some of those patties were omitted during the order. They're like "Sure buddy, you can pay extra for the patty you don't want to get." Having said that, it made the show easier to understand, and that was the point.

I live in Miami. They started selling them today. I just had one 5 minutes ago. You seriously cannot tell the difference. Looks or taste. I even pulled a piece off the patty. You can not tell at all. With the toppings, it taste exactly like a regular Whopper. Amazing.

No Burger is healthy that is made from meat. So let's get that straight right from the beginning. This burger is delicious may not be the healthiest thing in the whole wide world but it is very good tasting and it is not bad and it certainly saves the lives of animals. That's what I'm interested in as well as taste.
Impossible Foods has a major supply and demand issue. There is HUGE demand for this product and their operation is still super-small in comparison to demand. Hope they scale WAY up soon!

That actually sounds really promising. If the impossible burger (or it's inevitable direct competitors) is already only marginally more expensive, as a niche food, scaling up will almost certainly lead to it becoming the cheaper option in time
This is why Burger King is doing it in St. Lewis first before rolling it out Nation-wide.
All that science and Burger King still cant reach the conclusion to toast their bread.

When i worked at bk, for that month, to buy a car, and get a better job, we toasted the buns in a little drop down toaster , then microwaved it. Lol
The leftover meat that passed the timer, after resetting it 2 or 3 times, got put in a pan, crumbled up, frozen, and used for the next batch of chili.

OMG!! I just had it and it's by far the best plant based meat I've had. I was expecting that taste as the others and literally I was thinking while eating it they must have put meat in by mistake. It's so delicious!!!

I work at Burger King and when someone ask for the impossible whopper we just give them the regular whopper
I'd gladly pay a premium for a healthy vegetable burger and i'm a carnivore.

ive had the impossible burger and honestly i could live with this type of meat if its served and treated like ground meat
Once they get the costs down a bit more (which will happen now that Burger King and Fatburger are buying their paties), it's game over burger wise. Once they manage to get the same kind of texture for steaks, then they're going to revolutionize things.
Impossible burger has a Few issues.
#1 - Its NOT a juicy burger patty, my Homemade beef 5% fat Burgers are more juicy and are Never frozen,
to me the Frozen Impossible patty is a turn off, you lose Moistness and Flavor.

If you're worried about moistness, add it back. Sauces and marinades. As a non vegetarian, I had no issues with flavor or moistness of the impossible burgers I've had. Don't know if they were frozen or not, and really I don't care. They were delicious and tasted enough like a burger for me to be excited with where this is going.

A local pub by me has it often on it's specials menu and Impossible is already featured at White Castle (for a similar reasonable upcharge). If this takes off at BK and Beyond Meat ups its game to compete, you will probably see a decrease in the 'premium' charge due to economy of scale. Beyond Meat is good, but not great. AFAIK, it's not really in any major chains yet (Bareburger carries it along with Impossible) and has stuck to consumer retail. I bought it from a supermarket last week. It was delicious but it smells like wet cat food uncooked and it's pretty pricey.

Once it gets about the same price or cheaper than beef it’ll really break into the market. Because it really does taste like meat, I can confirm. Texture is slightly different, but if you didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t have known the difference.

@U bik Be careful with Impossible foods, they are known to have tested on animals and lied about it. Then later admitted to it. Apparently its part of the FDA approval but some sources say they've tested on animals after that.

You'll cut out a ton of excess calories if you drop the soda (and juice). You can also find calorie free sodas and calorie free flavoured water. Also calorie free water drops. I found these water enhancer drops at Walmart (also available online) called Stur that uses stevia extract instead of sucralose and acesulfame potassium. Zevia is soda with sweetened with stevia. Also I've seen coca cola made with stevia. Not sure about the other ingredients but yeah. There are options unless you live somewhere that has crap all. In which case you're better off sticking to water.

Had my first try of an Impossible Burger at Universal Studios, Florida last month. Absolutely delicious.
I had one at a local restaurant. It was amazing. However it was a barbecue burger and I think the barbecue sauce and onion ring really helped to hide the fact it wasn't hamburger. I think Burger King would do well to make a new burger instead of the Whopper so people won't be directly comparing the Impossible Burger to meat and the dollar price difference won't be so obvious.

I’m not doubting you. But, I’ve never had a fake meat burger that tasted like beef, chicken, pork. But that’s not to say I have never eaten a veggie burger or sausage and thought it tasted good.
Personally, I think bk is absolute crap and their impossible burger won’t be made any different. Flame broiler for too short of time, microwaved, and slipped together.
@@maryvon8518 In a dead cow burger the barbecue sauce and onion rings plus "grilling seasoning" help hide the taste of 5 year old worn out and haggard dairy cow (which is where most of fast food hamburger meat comes from). Because really who actually likes the taste of a plain unseasoned and baked patty? The flavor and texture is largely due everything else but what comes from a dead cow.

Zach, the most successful Costco in the world is located in Seoul Korea. They pay the city for police to direct traffic around the building on the weekends. I think it is jam packed from 8am to 10pm 7 days a week. They are forced to close 2 sundays a month because they are killing the farmers market.

"Why do they call it the Impossible Whopper?" and then end up trying it out of curiosity. The Impossible Whopper wouldn't have gotten nearly the level of attention it has gotten if it were instead called The Vegan Whopper.

The 12% non beef part is mostly a mixture of oats added to just give some more solid binding to the beef, it's not anything crazy.

I just tried a BK Impossible....and was blown away by how much it tasted like a regular whopper. We are living in the future folks. I could almost say it tastes better since the seasoning is embedded within the patty.
I've had the good luck to try the impossible burger and I will definitely replace beef with it.

True I tried it it's good, but honestly in terms of Fast Food locations Carls Jr is lagging. I'd prefer to get Fatburgers impossible if I had to pick something based on taste, though the cost there is just as much.

In my opinion, the Impossible Burger tastes a lot closer to actual meat. Being someone who has stayed away from veggie burgers in the past, I was blown away by how close the taste of the Impossible Burger is. It won't be the best burger you've ever had, but if no one told you it wasn't meat, you wouldn't notice. Can't say the same about Beyond's products.

If you live where there is a Fatburger, they have it on their menus. Cheesecake Factory also has it on their menus. Those are the restaurants are the ones I can vouch for. I also heard that Counter Burger sells it.

It might be because the lack of fat, fat does add the bit of fluff texture in meat that we know. So essencially the impossible burger is a lean meat.

Beyond smells like cat food and can leave a lingering after taste, at least for me. I really enjoyed the ones I bought, but I don't think I'll be buying them again anytime soon. I'll stick with a black bean burger or grilled portobella mushroom for now.

I agree, but that's because the "Famous Star" isn't that great. You gotta modify it to be like a better burger. I take off the special sauce, lettuce and pickles, and then I add BBQ and onion rings to the burger. It's pretty awesome that way. Honestly, I prefer the taste of the Impossible to the Beyond.

I feel like someone is ignoring the “beyond beef” plant based burger that has been at A&W for a while now.
Impossible is 1000% better than Beyond
Beyond burger is absolutely brutally disgusting
My closest A&W is over two hours away, one way. Right now if I wanted either Impossible or Beyond I have to drive approximately 1 hour each way. That's a deal breaker for a single guy for just a burger. If Impossible rolls out to Burger King it becomes a 15 minute round trip, including ordering and wait time.
They aren't ignoring anything, they're just focusing on the potential to spread this type of product nationwide and make the barrier to getting it to be as minimal as possible (almost anyone can reach a BK, all they need to do is be willing to cough up a dollar more for a Whopper with the Impossible patty).

- "How unremarkable it is."
And people will pay an extra dollar for it.
I think he means it's not startling you with some weird, crazy flavor. It's just as standard as a regular Whopper beef patty. Think about it, that's what people would want out of a vegetarian option for a substitute to something they already like.
Cannot wait until this burger hits Colorado. Had my first Beyond burger at Carl's Jr yesterday, and it was so good. No more beef burgers for me now. Don't care that it costs a bit more. YES! :)
