- Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Paperboy Hard Way 681,616 in 8:31
The goal of this TAS:
-Get the highest score possible
Time from Difficulty selection to the end of Sunday training course: 8:31
Grand Slam score: 1,331,863
Notes:
-Difficulty: Medium Hard (factory setting)
-I try to shoot things in that order:
-The flowers give the most points but you have to run over them.
-Next are things that go ZAP! (750 points) (mostly humans)
-Windows, lamps, tombstone award progressive points if they are from the same house. (300, 375, 450, 525, 600, 675, 750 points)
-Jump (600 points)
-Others: trash can, doghouse (300 points)
-There is a limitation for how much newspaper can be in the air at the same time.
-This number is 9
-But, this number decrease by one each time you shoot a mailbox
-At the beginning of a day and for the training course, the number is reset to 9
-if you shoot 9 mailboxes, you cannot shoot anymore
-So, It is impossible to shoot the 10 mailboxes.
-I am not sure if it is a feature or a bug.
-So, you have to think of how many newspapers you want to be able to shoot at the same time.
-I think 4 or 5 is a good number be able to shoot consecutive windows
-So, the maximum mailbox you want to shoot is 4 or 5
-In the training course, you have to take a jump to replenish your stock of newspapers
-In the training course you can shoot targets that are far left, even if you cannot see the awarded score

I like how simple and evil the concept of this game is.
How to keep subscribers happy and not lose them: Deliver paper to door or paper box. Don't break their windows.
How to earn new subscribers: BREAK THEIR WINDOWS.
EXTRA EXTRA. CHEAPER TO SUBSCRIBE THAN TO REPLACE YOUR WINDOW EVERY DAY.
hehe i agree, I get my paper delivered as well and those sunday papers are real thick with magazines and liftouts and rolled up I reckon it would EASILY bust a window, or a crook breaking in, or a kid on his trike, or death itself...lol you get the idea!!!

Every other house is a funeral home complete with grave stones and hearses. Gangs of post apocalyptic bikers and unicyclists. Guys brawling in the street. Freddy Krueger skateboarding. A woman who tries to run you over for stopping a burglar breaking into her house. And the grim reaper. What the hell kind of neighborhood is this?

The only game I’ve ever beat in an arcade. I was in high school in the mid 80’s and skipped school a lot to play this game !! Btw hearing that music and sound effects for the first time in nearly 40 years was crazy! And, I’m still a gamer !

@@jasonthomas6684 He probably spent a long time researched the best ways to do things, and then inputting all the movements himself, and it takes a long time to do that too. It's not that tool assisted isn't impressive, it's time consuming and shows off what is mechanically possible, it's not like a 'machine is playing it' like a lot of people seem to think.
I like how you lay out people with your newspapers before they can come attack you out for fucking up their house.

I often get frustrated watching people playing this game because they're doing it wrong, so it's nice to see this TAS.

Hi, have you thought about sacrificing your extra lives during the game instead of opting for the bonus at the end? As far as I'm aware this is what the top players do in their scoreruns, so could mean a few more potential points for the TAS and overall Grand Slam

Is this legit or was the cheat code used? Looks good true to be true.
This is a TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun), with an editor I set the position of the controls for each frame, resulting in nearly the best game you could play.
The goal of a TAS is to show what would be possible if someone would be able to play the game perfectly, no cheat are allowed.
Paperboy is not a human
This one looks difficult.
It would indeed be very difficult for a human to play like that. It's the fun of a TAS, to see what would be possible if you had the super power to play perfectly. It took me about 2-3 weeks of work to make this video.
