    Yes... I needed this. My hips and knees are out of sync, definitely hinging too backward. Now I can do sth to fix my technique.
    Great content! Thx!

    im not feeling my glutes much at all in my squat, mostly my quads. Is this normal?

      @BrazosValleyStrength  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t know anyone that feels squats in their glutes. This video isn’t about where you should feel it. It’s about how you should move. Worry about balance and consistency and not specifically what muscles you are using.

    Great video, i dont do a lot of low rep work on squats due to a herniated dis injury but this immensely helped my falling forward while squatting problem

    The good morning squat.

    I'm bot sure about your depiction of the SS squat. I've finished reading the Squat chapter and an exaggerated version of SS squat may look like what you were showing, but the blue book explicitly mentions breaking at the hip and knee simultaneously and pushing the knees out and forward.

      The generally coach much more hinge as a starting position than any good powerlifters do, and they also coach to “drive the hips up out of the hole” which I think is universally disagreed with.

      @@BrazosValleyStrength I agree that their coaching emphasizes the notorious hip drahve and that que can turn your squat into a good morning squat but that's not really what they're after. I like to reference the video titled: Thinkage of the squattage by Jonathan Sullivan. It explains their idea with a nice little animation.

    I find my lower back starts hurting if i hinge even a bit, staying upright helps. Is that more of a build issue, or me hinging too far issue?

      your lower back wont be hurt easily in any position with manageable load. Other than that are just injuries

    I think when you mention breaking from the knees and hips at the same time often gives people trouble. It’s the same cue I often tell new people to squatting. So many people have heard “sit back” which In my opinion is a horrible cue. If the weight is balanced correctly over the whole foot the hips will tend to naturally come back slightly, with the knees traveling slightly forward. It’s light old school vertical shin idea on squats. Makes no sense and was only used for strictly equipped lifters. You are correct on the good morning that often happens when people brings the hips back too much.

      Nothing wrong with sitting back, everybody has a different squat some break at the knees some break at the hips it doesn't matter just do what feels best alot of elite powerlifters who are training raw are sitting back Layne norton Stan efferding etc

      @@hanskazan7403 I agree that bringing the hips back slightly will naturally occur. But telling people to sit back is a poor cue. Also, yes there are a few hip dominant squatters. But for most raw lifters, the idea of a vertical shin angle is just off base.
