Aptx HD give a good quality over bluetooth, I believe the T1 is regular Aptx, which is still much better the the old SBC code. The other thing though with using Bluetooth is it limits you to how the turntable handles the phono stage. Generally speaking a dedicated phono preamp (external) will always give a better audio performance. Thankfully, you can always upgrade at a later date.
Play vinyl via speakers with cable. Also play via Bluetooth headphones if you want to listen without disturbing anyone. That’s why there is a Bluetooth option. However Bluetooth on almost all available turntables is really crappy. Not because of audio quality but because of connectivity problems.
you buy and play a turntable to get the analog experience. once you use bluetooth you digitise it. you might aswell buy a cd player. true audiophiles wont have a bluetooth turntable.
Hi I’ve got your model T1 with BT , is it worth substituting the sub platter for the aluminium version and also replacing the glass platter for the acrylic platter? I’d appreciate your opinion. Regards Maurice
I definitely wouldn't swap for aluminium, that would be a downgrade. Also, I don't think Pro-Ject make one for this model. Glass vs acrylic is a personal taste thing: both a good platter options. Hope this helps. It's a great deck.
The biggest problem with the T1 is the tonearm you cannot adjust it as its preset i tried 2 different units but they both had to go back to the shop as they kept anti skating to the middle of the first track and i had no way of adjusting it without affecting the warranty, i wanted to love it as it looked and sounded great but not being able to adjust the tone arm and anti skate is a big no for me.
You will be very limited to cartridge compatibility, that’s for sure. Basically you’re better sticking with the supplied cartridge and upgrading the stylus. It’s a fair criticism
Pro-ject have just released the T2 w which runs on WiFi but also has a built in preamp so you could go down the wire option I believe you can adjust the tracking and arm which would be good but the current price is quite steep at £899
Hello, Great video. I just bought a T1 Phono SB off the back it. Bit confused by the glass platter, which side of the platter should be used. The frosted matt side or the shinny clear side. Manual says smooth side up but it seems poorly worded. Any advice would be great.
Great! Glad the review helped. I had the frosted side up. Here is my full written re-view with some images that may help: www.yoursoundmatters.com/pro-ject-t1-review-audiophile-turntable/
After two years I still don't understand how it sounds and if I like it. I love the concept of manual 100%. But it seems dull and suffocated. Maybe I haven't got the hi-fi connection chain right yet
Hi! Can I use leather mat (2 mm) instead of original felt mat (1 mm) for T1 Phono SB without the need to adjust VTA? And won’t it ruin the records due to 1 mm difference size?
Yes. You can do that no problem. Pro-Ject even sell their own 2mm leather mat. VTA is important, but if you think about, even different record weights (180g etc) have an impact on height. There are people who will adjust VTA for record weight, but at this level of turntable, it’s usually not possible. And quite frankly, life is too short 😅🎶 I wouldn’t go adding a very thick mat though. Thanks for your comment and happy listening!
you can either get a pair of powered speakers, and connect them to your phono stage, and use the volume on your speakers. Orrr, get an integrated amp / speaker set up. there are lots of "how to" vids to assist you on setting things up. Hope this helps.
Honestly, i don't think i'll personally need the Bluetooth or automatic speed switcher, but i definitly can see people wanting the BT and SB Versions. But for me, those aren't worth the money. I rarely listen to 45 rpm vinyls (like, i even only own 3 of those) and i don't see that much of a need for Bluetooth on a stationary device, from which i won't go far away anyways
Hi is it possible you could review the Fluance rt85 turntable? It has a very good spec, acrylic plater, ortofon blue cartridge, twin speed, auto stop. Like the videos many thanks

Excellent vlog !!!

I ask myself, buying an audiophil turntable and connect it by bluetooth? Blutooth has in general a loss of dynamic and headroom. Or am I wrong?

Great review by the way
I still don't get, what's the point buing a turntable and than cut off the audio quality via bluetooth
For convenience or turntable position. Some people just want the choice. I’d use a good phono preamp personally.

@@soundmatters Hi thanks very much for your reply it was really helpful👍
Such great info. My son is looking for his first turntable. My question is- Pro-ject T1 phono SB or Rega Plana 1 Plus? Any help greatly appreciated.
