Seeing them live in the UK this summer. They have saved me at least once, through very dark times. I'm just grateful for them, now I know why fans cherish them.
How does everyone in this band besides Tim Mahoney just not age? Best band in all the land! I'm glad my favorite member isn't taking that hiatus and we're getting new music!
311 has been around (the same five guys album after album and tour after tour) realistically my entire life. I was born in 86 so it’s pretty much been one of the constant parts of my life on this planet. And they’re still going! First band I ever learned to play on bass and guitar, first band I ever attached myself to and first band I ever resonated with musically
Excellent interview Stryker! 311 still brings it harder than ever after all of these years! Have had so much fun at their shows/events, and spreading their music and positivity cant wait to hear their new stuff!
Just starting to watch and i just gotta say, i love Tucson. I’m from Montreal, Canada and i’ve been there twice for the gem & mineral shows and it’s mostly very nice. It’s sad that there is a lot of poverty there though.
Danny Elfman and 311 are my all time favorites so that show would have been mind-blowing. Too bad I was like 13 at the time and on the other side of the country. I've met Nick twice and both times my brain just froze and I couldn't think of what to say 🤦♂️. But i did get a pic with the band on the Mosaic tour 🤘.
Those two are great sleepers. I consider places that the mind goes the worst of all the feldy songs tho haha I wasn't expecting him to say that one. I just finished working on a guitar/bass cover for tune in and I think that should be a more well known sleeper. Pnuts parts in the bridge were actually kinda tough! I was hoping he'd bring transistor up in general.
Very nice gold nuggets of new stories, the bass player from the Cure is in the Love Song video, the Shaq helicopter messing up the acoustic set, lol. Dat interview is dope.🤘
Since Evolver... Don't Tread on Me is a fantastic album full of love songs. Uplifter is only redeemed from it's B-Sides (Sun Come Through and Get Down are top tier, imo). I seriously blame Bob Rock. Universal Pulse has some quality jams on it. Stereolithic is my personal favorite since Evolver. Mosaic is quality 311. Voyager is 50/50 for me. The whole Crossfire/Heist issue. I prefer the Ralston tracks. 👌🤘
@@OrangeChrome Mosaic and Stereolithic definitely separate from the pack. DTOM demo leaks turned that album sideways (strong B-sides, tho) the Bob Rock experience sucked. He normalized them. Universal Pulse was better than Uplifter, but the album was too short to rank high. Uplifter had a few songs I still dig, but the bulk was way too cheesy lyrically for me (again, solid b-sides) Voyager had the copyright issues you mentioned and that turned me off
They shoulda redone universal pulse with a production that knows what they're doing. It often gets grouped in with uplifter due to both having bad production but universal pulse was the bands reinvigoration after dtom and uplifter. It sounds like Bob Rock didn't even mix or master it.

He was taking a break but now he isn't. Despite the talk of how it had to do with Chad, Chad walked back his regretful tweet a week later. I don't think it had anything to do with it. Out of all the speculations that were floating around out there, the most believable one to me was that he was not liking how much they had been going to outside writers lately. Who knows though. Just glad he's stickin around!
I think Nick is wrong as far as “All Mixed Up” being 1st single… I was a huge fan since early 94 and I remember 311 had a hotline and fan club that sent out newsletters (still have them) anyway, I remember calling the hotline in May-June of 95 and there was a short clip of “Don’t stay home” followed by something like “this will be our first single off the new album!!
Darn, I heard a member (most likely nick) mention why and I can’t remember. Could be a budget thing. I’m sure it’s in an interview from the last 10 years.

I love 311, representing Omaha. Chad Sexton is a great drummer, he was in the drumline for the Nighriders Drum and Bugle Corps back in the day.
Sky Ryders. 🙂
And now he's maga trash who ruined 311's legacy and turned them into a joke

Hey Nick, I have an idea for the next album. You should hide one phrase from old albums in each of the new songs. What do you think?
I wonder what the deal is with P-Nut then? Last I heard he was quitting 311, now they are talking about recording and writing new music?
I read between the lines on this. Nick wants to make new music. The rest of the band might need more convincing. That's what I got.
I never heard "quit", but take a break.
