    The fact that you guys pointed out that the look of the Stallone movie was spot on for the city, but wasn't so much in Urban's, gives me massive amounts of hope for this project. The last film had the grit, but not the look, nor the insanity of the big Meg. Nail that on top of Urban's Dredd and you're onto a winner!

    as much as i dredd id realisticly be unable to catch up on him through the ages, but as a younger fan of dredd, having the backstory and the enviroment, really makes me look foward to this series!

    I was about ten years old when the Stallone version of Dredd came out. I loved it backed then and it ultimately got me into the Dredd comics. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that film because of that. The Day the Law Died story arc, which the film was based on, is one of my favorite Dredd stories.

    very excited about this and having a series has morsme advantage of a 1 hour 30 minute movie. It allows you to do more with the texture and feel of mega city one. cant wait to see Mega city one and view the boundry wall or the different districts.

    If you can't get Karl in, how about this:
    - Remove the name Judge Dredd from the title
    - Focus on a different judge
    - Wait until Karl is able to / wants to then you can introduce Dredd.

    • @RonPaulBot1234
      @RonPaulBot1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That would be awesome so first you would only hear about him on 3rd person and then boom! he shows up after a few episodes.. I really like that style of storytelling similar to what they done to men in black and arnold in westworld.

      *_"If you can't get Karl in"_*
      I like Karl -as much- well more than a few people BUT there's a chance they can find someone who can pull it off better than Karl could or at least be as good as him. Take Jon Bernthal from Daredevil Season 2. People were on the fence about him playing the iconic character and he nailed the HELL out of the character. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the last person anyone thought might make a decent action star until Inception. Bruce Willis would probably still do Soap Operas and Detective flicks if it wasn't for Die Hard. I'm sure you all can name a few example yourself.

    • @ULYSSES-31
      @ULYSSES-31 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Karl Urban isn't the only actor in the world who can adquately play Judge Dredd.

    This all sounds great. For me the casting of Dredd, Urban or not goes a long way to making this a must watch.
    Also he must have a great uniform. Get those right and I'll happily over look other things that might not be so great. I'm with you for the long hall.

    I really want them to bring back the shoulder armour. use the "realistic" suit in the latest dredd movie but mix some of the classic in there.

    • @RonPaulBot1234
      @RonPaulBot1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that shoulder armor should probably be kept for ceremonial events at the academy I really question how cumbersome it could be on the real world everyday fighting with them. Maybe even go on different styles and colors would represent rank and different status impacting where to sit or be next to in ceremonies etc..

    Here's my wish list:
    I'd like Dredd to be present in every episode but not necessarily the main character. He can be a catalyst at the start of an episode to kick things off or a conclusion of an episode to wrap the story up. I don't need to see him in every scene but I'd like to see him in every episode.
    Occasionally I'd like a story arc that'll run over three or four episodes; like the America Jara story

    Question for @2000ADonline everyone talks about Olivia and Karl they were incredible on Dredd and I hope they really get in the project. But one that is rarely mention is the corrupt Judge Lex (Langley Kirkwood) I think he was great and had a lot of gravitas and great performance for the small role he did. Did you guys consider him? it would be great to show him before becoming corrupt and coming to the conclusion mega city one is just a meat grinder, like an off shoot episode.

    • @jebadiahjackson
      @jebadiahjackson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dredd didn't rip off the raid, was conceptualised and filming before Raid started filming. However, I onlt want to see the comic book bike leathers on screen, cheaper to make for the cast and represents what I want from a Dredd series.

    • @RonPaulBot1234
      @RonPaulBot1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ilyriandevil I did read some of the first comics and the comics that I read do not take the universe that serious... compared to Dredd 2012, the movie goes toward more of what I want to see. The bike on the movie is better, the uniform think everything is better on the movie. I think they need to be careful with the craziness and comic book tropes.. I basically want to see more almost human, ghost in the shell stand alone complex, westworld, black mirror, Automata themes .. much of dredd already touch on this but less deeply. Like careful with the dimensional stuff dunno if I really want to see it.

    • @jebadiahjackson
      @jebadiahjackson 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh boy, for the comics read Block Mania/Apocalpse War or at the very least Cursed Earth or America. Very general but that is what I want from a Dredd series, live action or otherwise animated.

    • @JudgeMinty
      @JudgeMinty 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, we just copied the original... Benefits of doing a fan film.
      I'm not sure you could get anything that could be ridden as a practical prop, and look as big as the comic version. Closest seems to be the batpod, but that's ridden crouching down, not sat upright like a traditional comic lawmaster.
      It depends if they're going for something that can be ridden as a bike, or something that's a bike on a gimbal for CU shots and maybe CGI and digital doubles for wider shots/stunts.
      If it doesn't have to function as a standalone bike, I guess it could be a lot closer to the comic.

    • @jimdigriz2923
      @jimdigriz2923 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A practical prop would be bloody marvellous and something I've been wanting to see done for years (I doubt we'll see one in this, but hey,one can hope :)) and something akin to the Batbike, as good as it is, would't look quite right. As much as I loved Urbans Dredd over Slys, I prefer the Sly Lawmaster (I think cause it had the Eagle on it). In the end I'm happy we're getting more Dredd (and your SD fan flick teaser is awesome :))
      Edit - the closet I've come across was this (based on wheel size) www.taylormade-wheels.co.uk/harleys/13.jpg , so maybe not too impossible to do it and do justice to the original version at the same time.

      but still, the product was targeted for the american audience nonetheless. thats why its called "dredd" and have them wearing different uniforms doing full on RAMBO american hollywood action hero stuff, it cant be canon to the 2000ad universe because it would totally fucked up the lore with all that shankar's judge dredd superfiend crap (they literally retracing artworks from the comics on that one and it shit, it makes the world of judge dredd seems small)

      Most comic films are not tied to the 'canon' of their original sources because most film audiences are not familiar with the convolutions of the source material. Having said that, apart from the aesthetic of the film, the departures from canon in DREDD are very few. DREDD was clearly aimed at both the US and European markets. They are all necessary. And how many artists have drawn their own version of the city and the uniform in the comic?
