- This is a Quick Look at our port stop in Juneau, Alaska.
We take a short walk through Juneau, Alaska. We walk up Franklin St., the shopping area, past the Red Dog saloon. We walk to the top of the hill and then down to the Governor's Mansion.

My fondest memories are of the time I lived in Juneau. I spent far too much time in the Red Dog Saloon and the Breakwater! No offense to the filmer but this video doesn't even begin to show the true beauty of Juneau, Alaska. It is an absolutely gorgeous place!

This reminds me so much of Oak Bay in Victoria and North and West Vancouver. Even the totem poles look really similar.

I visited Juneau from Britain in 2023. It was a really nice town.

We have been to Jamaica a couple of times in the past. Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. That was before we started posting videos. Currently, none of our scheduled cruises go there.

i came here to hear how the name is pronounced, as i suspected it its pronounced as "juno" and i know the name comes from jon juneau but i thought it might be pronounced more french since the name spelling suggests french origin i could also be wrong but it just looks like that

Well, it looks like a lousy place to visit unless you are into touristy stuff. Authenticity? Forget it. $35 to ride their dumb incline? Those people saying it's "beautiful" would be content with a paint-by-numbers version of Starry Night.

Jim, it’s extremely unfair judgement. Juneau IS very beautiful, and rainy day and quick city tour does not reflect that. I suggest visit with eyes wide open. I visited 15 times and every visit was special.
@@evabalga6133 Perhaps you are right and it's a snap judgment. But I'm not motivated to go there based on the video. Again: $35 to ride an incline? Shops full of touristy stuff? Periodic mobs of tourists from cruise lines? Visit with my eyes wide open . . . whatever that means. If you've visited there 15 times, does that mean you live rather close by? Perhaps you are right and I'm not being fair but from what I've seen I'm not breaking my neck to test my error.
@@huntingthekaiser6490 No, I live in Midwest, my first Alaska visit was cruise in 2009 and I fell in love with southeast and kept returning on my own, flying to Juneau and visiting different islands. There is so much to see and love! With open eyes I meant avoiding tourist traps, asking locals for out of beaten path places, get familiar with rich native culture, walk the trails. Mt. Roberts tram takes you to great trails with breathtaking view of downtown, carved trees, beautiful video about Tlingit tribe, you can watch native woodcarvers working on their crafts. There is new state of art museum. If you are lucky, you might witness big event of biannual native celebration. Seek other videos. Forget cruise. Jump on a plane, spend a month in SE. You’ll never regret it.
