If "a woman should never rule" is the DEFAULT, like what Otto feed Alicent that Rhaenyra will never be accepted by the realm, that literally nobody wants a Queen, everyone I mean literally everyone will switch side to Aegon as soon the King died.
But apparently not everyone had that kind of mindset, there are people who see the scheming betrayal behind this.
There are people who are loyal to The King's chosen heir, they are willing to accept a Queen.
Even when their life is the price for believing a woman could make a good Queen.

Alicent selling her feet for Information sent me 😭. People pointed out how other times when she was around Larys she took her shoes off so they BEEN doing this lil exchange , while viserys was alive. Sneaky girl and Larys's thing is burning buildings with people inside em , so we can assume it was him " cutting the head " and sending his people to kill the white worm and her little worms. So , shawty probably dead.
Unlike the strongs, we didn't see white worm mysaria burning in the building.... So....

2 things about this episode that I keep thinking about :
1) Rhaenys on her dragon with this look to Alicent sounded like « This throne belongs to a true dragon » idk, I felt like this was her words just by looking at them
2) Im mad that Alicent buried Rhaenyra’s father without her knowing (plotting or not) she couldn’t even have said goodbye to Viserys this is disgusting of her knowing Rhaenyra wouldn’t have done that to her

Her death is tragic but so cool to me, unlike Alicent's death. She lost her mind, start talking to herself and hating the color of green, she saw Rhaenyra's child ascend the throne, get sick and locked away and died with regret. Poetic.

I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept the much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble.

This all would have happened regardless of Viserys' last words, all that served to do was give Alicent some bit of cover for her actions in the eyes of the audience. About those last words, Viserys simply mentioned the Conqueror not any present or future Aegon.

"everything u feel for me….as ur queen." I can't handle that level of palpable sexual tension lol. Ironic cause in a way they are the cersei and jaime of this show lol.the last 3 mins aside,i thought this was an excellent episode. it felt like a white house political thriller with a "race against time" feel from start to finish suspense. When Otto was moving around chess pieces, Beesbury screaming, Caswell hanging..I was on the edge of my seat. I knew how good it was when it had reactors already coping for compeuppance lol. Tom Glynn-Carney showed excellent range as Aegon. But it got overshadowed by 3 mins of a Rhaenys "happy ending" smdh lol. This crowning ceremony was a visual historygasm, finally befitting a king in got verse. The actors for Otto, Alicent, Aegon did a great job. And that "window in the wall of your prison" line is one of the best lines so far.

While I agree that what Criston did is way too much, now that he is Lord Commander everything changes. Besides being the King's chief bodyguard, the Lord Commander also sits in the King's council.
He is now officially on the same level as all those dudes in the chamber in the beginning, excluding Otto(the Hand)

Before Rhaenys became her rider, Meleys was previously ridden by Princess Alyssa Targaryen, mother of Viserys (future King Viserys II) and Daemon - Princess Alyssa took each her sons for a ride on Meleys within two weeks of their birth, strapped to her chest).
The first day of a civil war is the most dangerous part. Except for every day after that.

Criston Cole is much much more than a body guard. Being a Kingsguard means you are revered across the realm and are granted a social status higher than some minor Lords or nobles like Geoffrey. And being Lord commander of the Kingsuard makes you one of the most powerful people in Westeros. On top of this Cole is super close with the Queen and one of the finest warriors Westeros had seen at that point. Cole can be an asshole and get away with it because of political connection, his status and his lethally heavy hands.
Justice in Kings Landing isn't about what's right. In the GOT world, what justice depends on the whims of the powerful people who set the rules for the game. Cole has become one of those people unfortunately. Daemon gets away with murder all the time lol, precisely because he has heavy hands and he's a prince with a dragon.

My one major criticism of the show is they feel a need to reference GoT s8 every episode. The soiaf, the dagger, Viserys talking about Aegon the VI (the man who doesnt want it) not Alicents Aegon. On one hand i liked that it will now spiral out of control because of a misunderstanding because so often in history misunderstandings had severe consequences so it’s actually realistic. On the other, we just saw Rhaenyra and alicent take the first step toward at least being able to breathe the same air as the other but now thats all out the window because all Aegons sound alike haha

These comments pissed off a lot of Daemon stans today....
The Hollywood Reporter recently chatted with Dragon writer and executive producer Sara Hess and director Clare Kilner about the ninth episode of the HBO fantasy hit and threw in the following question: Some viewers have really fallen for Daemon after the last episode when he helped his brother as he stumbled on the way to the Throne to decide the heir of Driftmark. But wasn’t that Daemon helping the king do what he wanted him to do anyway - to make a ruling in his daughter’s favor? If Viserys was about to rule against Rhaenyra, Daemon would have let his brother fall flat on his face. In other words, aren’t all of Daemon’s moments, even the seemingly benevolent ones, ultimately self-serving?
Hess replied: “I agree with you. He’s become Internet Boyfriend in a way that baffles me. Not that Matt isn’t incredibly charismatic and wonderful, and he’s incredible in the role. But Daemon himself is … I don’t want him to be my boyfriend! I’m a little baffled how they’re all, ‘Oh, daddy!’ And I’m just like: ‘Really?’ How - in what way - was he a good partner, father or brother - to anybody? You got me. He ain’t Paul Rudd. What do you think, Clare?”
Kilner, for her part, seemed to relate a bit to the feels.
“I just love the fact people are so involved with these characters, and I think that’s part of the fun of it,” she said. “One minute you like someone, and the next minute you like someone else. But I’m not surprised. Matt is such a risk-taker in his performances and he’s got that little smile and, you know … you can’t help it! He is charismatic. People love a baddie. But I don’t think he’s particularly a good father or a good brother.”
Hess teased that - possible mild spoiler alert - fans’ view of Daemon might be challenged again by Sunday’s finale, as well as in season two, which is expected sometime in 2024.
“We will see a different side of him,” Hess said of the finale. “And right now, we’re writing season two and figuring out, what is the nature of his relationship with Rhaenyra? There are many interpretations [in George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood] to that.”

I'm pissed by these two females saying this. It reminds me of the She-Hulk writers. Never read the comics. Didn't respect the source material and wrote that turd. Daemon is a great guy to have on a woman's side not named Rhea Royce. Perfect? No. Awesome? Most of the time.
Daemon has shown to be a caring brother and husband. And if they didn't delete the scene of him hugging his daughters after Laena died, he seems like a caring father as well. He risked his life to help House Velaryon. He stood up for Jace and Luke against Aemond.
I hope Clare Kilner does not direct a Daemon-centric episode. She directed Ep 9 and I really didn't care for it. I hate most Greens. Thank goodness Matt Smith has some creative control over his character that Emilia didn't have with Dany. The scene of Daemon helping his brother up the throne was all improvised by Matt.
Sarah Hess makes it seem Daemon was only acting self-serving. Like , WTF? Do you understand the character? Daemon unconditionally LOVES his brother. All Daemon ever wanted was to protect him. Even respected Viserys' wishes to not marry his daughter and we saw Rhaenyra be unhappy for 10 years when she finally listened to her father the way Alicent did.
Most Daemon fangirls complaining online read the books and understand what Daemon is all about. Sara Hess and Clare Kilner sound like haters specifically Sara. Jaime Lannister wasn't perfect either committing crimes and sins himself and people still loved him at the end. I pray these females don't ruin a great character and GRRM's favorite Targaryen.
Hess is known for her misandry, so choosing her as the writer for the series was a mistake.

This was by far my least favourite episode, it just felt a bit flat. Couple that with minor plot conveniences sprinkled throughout, I just have to mark it down.

I guess it's a grave crime for Criston to kill Beesbury for falsely accusing Queen of regicide but it's totally cool and edgy for Daemon to kill Vaemond for correctly accusing Princess of committing treason by siring bastard children.

Rhaenys hasn't read Fire & Blood to know of the horrors to come. So her pre-emptively nuking half her own family would've been OP. Having said that, the Rhaenys bit was to give audience a 'send home happy' moment which wasn't necessary. The coronation was fantastic in itself. But gawd forbid the ''bad guys' are on top in one episode. Those who thought lowborns of KL have any obligation to support Rhaenyra are in for big disappointments. Aegon claims his birthright from popular King Jaehaerys' Great Council stating king's firstborn male son is next king. Viserys himself won it over Rhaenys like that. Best part of this was the politics, less dragons the better. Despairing mom version of alicent does highlight her humanity more than the colder iteration of the actual green council. A well needed adjustment imo but also a continuation of her Harrenhall or knife scene mistake. They've constantly shown subtleties in her character which audience wilfully ignores since we're watching this as a team sport and gotta cheer team lovable manipulative dad. Her being more humanized shouldn't be an issue unless one wants the show to remain grotesquely tilted towards Black (Laenor death,Rhae-Vaemond)

This episode made me empathize with Alicent more. Her methods aren’t perfect but she’s one of the few who seem to have the interest of the realm and people in mind. I’m surprised by the amount of people who are team RH or think she’s a good guy.
By putting her Rapist son on throne? Yeah she’s definitely have interest of the realm and peoples mind 💀

I've always felt conflicted watching Alicent because she seems to be in a perennial struggle with herself. That said, I'm curious to know what viewers thought about her clandestine interactions with Larys. It's obvious that Alicent looked/felt deeply ashamed about it, but at the same time, it seems rather hypocritical that she has been slut-shaming Rhaenyra too. I know that both situations aren't exactly the same, but both characters aren't the same either; she needs to get off that high horse a bit 😅
‘Beast under’ scene is an example, writers in this show also slowly doing the same mistake as GOT writers did. Don’t ever think you can write better that Goerge R R Martin.
