The government will do anything in its power to stay superior; I'm a conspiracy guy but if they say China is up to no good in this specific matter I believe them. The super viral congress meeting with the TikTok CEO was merely what the public could see that's why the same questions were being asked, The Congressman and women who took time to talk were briefed by the government and were allowed to see in full scale what TikTok could do hence the decision to ban it. TikTok is also used to influence congress bills and presidential campaigns hence why the TikTok CEO begged Americans to protest and get TikTok off the list of being banned. The bigger issue is its parent company Byte Dance that has been directly linked to the CCP. I find it ironic that Congress is worried about national security through TikTok but defended a private citizen who had unsecured classified documents in unisex toilets at Mar-a-lago. Anyway... ByteDance is owned by a combination of investors, founders, and employees. 80% of them are OUTSIDE of China, including some Americans. Another reason Congress (Zuckerberg) wants ByteDance to be sold to an American is for the technology and algorithms. Instead of spending time and money on resources trying (and failing) to replicate TikTok, it's faster for them to just take TikTok, I mean, sell it to an American entity. Congress (Zuckerberg) may see the future in AI. To develop AI, you need a TON of data and who has a lot of data - TikTok. To them, it's faster and cheaper to TAKE what they want instead of spending time and money on trying to duplicate something already in existence. Just like the colonizers took the land from the indigenous and just like they took the agricultural goods grown by the enslaved - they just took it. Good for ByteDance for not caving (ABC/George Stephanopoulos and MSNBC/Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski). Hopefully, TikTok stays. Hopefully, Lemon8 stays and becomes the new TikTok. It's just time to start standing up the metaphorical bullies and start getting some of our freedoms back to the general public.
This channel is on the way to becoming my favorite. Good work. Also considering the way technology is going nowadays, i really do think that learning to operate without technology is the new super power.
tiktok's UI/UX has gotten genuinely so bad im appalled people can still use it. i used tt a couple years ago and redownloaded it recently. going to tiktok now just makes me feel sinful like idk how to describe it. it's just *so* corporate and soulless it's awful man
This is based on a complete misunderstanding of the Chinese system. The CCP has full control of ALL industries and people within its borders. First, China has 2 currencies, an internal use and an external use, a Chinese company’s autonomy is determined by how much CNY (as opposed to to CHN) they may possess, that amount is set on a company to company basis, and is set to zero for all of them (😂) - since the Chinese government can restrict ANY action via their social credit score internally this means they absolute and total control of every single company, both de facto and de jure…
FACTS how bout selling data to other companies from your users is illegal and they get held to the same standard of safe guarding information as an employer with its employees. Amployers are not allowed to share employee sensitive information with 3rd party vendors. Fun fact
The other reason is because of how fast we can share useful information with each other. Ideas that could save you TIME and MONEY. The two things everything and everyone tries to take from you.
Exactly this. Thank you for commenting some sense. China won't even let their own people have personal Facebook accounts, but advertised TikTok to the US American culture and have been collecting our data ever since. Never had an account, and don't want one. People want to say the US Government spies on their own people, and they do, but it's not nearly as intense as the Chinese government on their own people. Why would an "entertaining" app want to know your location at all times even when you're not using it? TikTok is heavily advertised everywhere, I get there adds all the time. Sorry, but if I have children my child will not be allowed to have a TikTok account let alone new apps to come. History repeats itself, the issue may be TikTok now, and if it's successfully banned here there'll just be a new app to be under investigation.
Anyone on android doesnt need to use the google play to install apps. You just have to enable the right option and you can install whatever apps you choose. At that point, the ban doesnt matter. Im not sure about iphone because I dont use those horrendous things. Nor do i even use tiktok soooo.. ya lol.

So the whole thing about American companies sounds good on paper, but when you look behind the curtain and see the definitions and different things that have happened, it's a moot point.
@ it’s not as simple as you’re putting it as these companies have to be compliant with various local rules and also be vetted/audited by third party American firms.
On the other hand, stealing info and tech is both ways. It’s not one way.
TikTok ultimately didn't offer to allow checks that they were actually hosting to U.S. vetted companies.
This whole tik tok ban is hilarious, the bottom line is simple, US isn't used to not have complete control of media consumed by americans
Probably because if it's not controlled by Americans it'll be controlled by someone else... and with all these election interferences in the news its definitely a real thing
@@kakenboltorcher I heard that they were at one point also access the devices on ur internet too, which posed a very high risk. The government also discovered a "backdoor" that Byte Dance was using to the get to the info of TikTok users. If TikTok is just a normal app, why is it banned in China (Byte Dance Home Country) (sorry if there's any typos English isn't my main language)
But Zuckerberg will be the ultimate beneficiary

I'm telling you Only tiktok give me the very specific ad "are you 23 and stay in Louisiana with one kid and looking into billing and coding ".....and it did it again but this year AFTER MY BIRTHDAY SPECIFICALLY the ads starting saying "are you 24......" 🤣😭😭I stayed off tik Tok for while because of that ad

Trust me Facebook and Instagram as well.
Why is it so specific 😭

6:36 - China's 2017 Cybersecurity Act mandates that CCP offices are maintained on corporate grounds for companies doing business in China in the tech space. It's not a could, they do have offices in Bytedance, Netease, etc. No clue what to do about it, but that's the reality of the situation.

This was very interesting and informative. I had already suspected this fight was over control.
Im glad that these videos are on TH-cam, Xevi is definitely gonna be okay when and if the ban happens.

Important to note the Europe has decade old regulations to protect data but America allows the data to be sold for profit.
The other reason is because of how fast we can share useful information with each other. Ideas that could save you TIME and MONEY. The two things everything and everyone tries to take from you.
Its wild how China can use American laws to help themselves, but they won't allow America to do the same.
