    Wow, I remember seeing that kit back in the early 2000s. There was a glow-in-the-dark variant out there.

    Great work . Excellent weathering .
    Please guys don't complain about the kit..It's tooling is at least 45 years old. Be grateful it is still made and we can still build it.

    That's a Charger 500 back glass, for NASCAR before the Daytona. Awesome build.

    Hi really enjoyed this video, you had the problem with the window A pillars which you resolved really creatively, as my former instructor at university once said...’if you can’t control it make a feature of it’. Impressive model thanks for posting video.

    Great job on the build! I bought this kit and realized it's the same as the old 69 mpc charger 500 kit. If you want to build a general lee try out the revell 69 charger. It's a great kit

      Thanks so much! That’s probably what I’ll end up doing. I just completed the 66 GTO muscle series kit and it was a great kit. Revell didn’t disappoint at all.

    Once again another masterful display of weathering! Hopefully in future videos it would be great if you could spend just a little more time on how you actually do those aging techniques like for instance how you got the linen like material to conform so well as to actually look like a tarp? Anyway, looking forward to future posts, thanks for sharing.

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ken! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words. Still getting used to recording and what not and many others have asked about how I weather so I definitely plan on doing some “how to” videos on rusting, weathering etc.
      As for the tarp, it’s toilet paper and watered down mod podge. You can either lay the TP down over the model and then apply the watered down mod Podge all over it or, lay the TP down in the mod podge and then lay it over the vehicle, carefully because it will rip. To get it to conform is just moving it around and playing with it until it looks natural. After it’s dried, paint it up and weather it to for depth. Hope this helps some, but I will make a video showing off my technique. Thanks again Ken!

    I've heard a lot of the same things about this kit. If memory serves me the "Ghost of the General Lee" Glow in the dark kit is the best representation of the General Lee. I have that and this kit you are using but haven't compared them yet. Basically I went out and bought what I could so I could build the General Lee when the world went crazy and was pulling these kits off the shelf over the flag. Awesome finish. I love what you did with this build. You've been subbed

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dirk! Yea this kit is honestly just not good for a Duke of Hazzard build. So many wrong things and very poorly made. I’ve heard the “Ghost of the General Lee” is a far superior kit so it’ll be cool to see you complete it one day. Thanks for watching and subbing. Much appreciated!!

    That’s a charger 500 casting aka Daytona. That is why the back window has the flat back window.

      AMT have fixed this issue. They now have the buttress window. it's still a poor kit. i got a coronet front grille for my one and made it the full Charger 500.

    Like you said, that kit is totally wrong for the General Lee, the kit body is a 69 Charger 500 which did have the flush rear window, but the 500 had a flush mount grill and headlights as well, the GL kit at least got the grill correct for the GL, but the wrong rear recessed window with sail panels. This has always bugged me to no end, and is the only reason I don't have a General Lee in my collection. Nice job on your version though, love the barn find look.

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop

      Thanks so much, and sorry I am just now seeing your comment. I heard the best thing to use is Revell Muscle Car Series and just convert it into a General Lee so I will probably end up doing that in the future.

    My uncle recently passed away and he was a fellow model builder so I inherited all his builds well he had a General Lee in there that he built towards the end of his life and he was a little shaky so the decals were messed up so I was wondering what you were planning on doing with the decals from this kit? I'm trying to restore his build but the decals I can't Salvage. And by the way awesome build I like how you took something that was garbage and made it worth looking at awesome work!

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! So sorry to hear about your Uncle. I plan on using them in a future build. I want to get the Revell GTO kit and do the General Lee with these decals. But, if you go to Mikes Decals they have Genera Lee Decals available for like $5. They are Probably way better then the ones in this kit.

    69 500 for NASCAR don't have the concave back window or hide away head lights ) but they mostly All had a Himi / the General Lee ? Had a 440 magnum ) Bo Duke told me that))) lXl

    I love the weathered builds! Looks great! You took a not so great kit and made art!
    How do you do the tarps btw? I want to try and make one for some builds. I’ve used a mix of white glue and water on tissue paper (gift tissue) but results don’t compare to yours.
    Keep doing what you do! 😎👍🏾

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks so much. You’re on the right track with the tissue paper. I used toilet paper and watered down mod podge. I did the same for my tarp in the 66 fleet side video. Toilet paper is a little thicker and you can handle it a little easier. With it being thicker, it gives off that tarp look like it has some weight to it. Once it dries completely, you can paint and weather it up. Hope this helps!

    • @KBCC_Garage
      @KBCC_Garage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The kit is a Charger 500 body. A nascar design. The General did not have a Hemi. Most ran a 340 or 440. I like the revell 69 kit for GL builds.
