They were. They're basically short range, ad-hoc paratroopers that operated in low light conditions to avoid detection. They seem to have used basic fans run on electric moped engines for power to increase range. Minimal thermal or power signature. Likely a horrible firing platform, so extreme vulnerability until the glider lands. No real defensive capability. They even have absurdly slow speed, with extreme vulnerability to even a single rifle on the ground, if the rifleman knows where to look and is alert. But don't forget, this method is also absurdly cheap and effective if done right. I ain't gonna lie, their paragliding method does look ridiculous and not stealthy at all, but people can miss them if it's low light condition and they don't look up. And let's be real, humans often don't look up, even sentries at military bases if they're complacent or underestimate their opposing force.
My favourite video of the war so far? There's one of a Hamas fighter flying into a coastal town on a modified airboat. Some real Far Cry/Just Cause kind of stuff.

The USS Liberty's Deck Log also has an entry at 3:03pm stating an Israeli motor torpedo boat (MTB) offered to help; the Israelis recorded this offer of help at 4:40pm (which was declined). Also friendly fire is not an uncommon occurrence in warfare; literally the day before the IAF had bombed a friendly armoured column, and in 1956 the Israelis bombed and damaged the British frigate HMS Crane (despite fighting together). The incident, in my eyes, was a severe case of incompetence instead of deliberate malice.
