At 21:36, trackmania has taught me to take wins like that and stop, at least for a while. Whenever you get that big an improvement, you need to take a break - maybe when you’re refreshed you can cut off a few more seconds ^^
yeah no that's the first place mf who decided to cheat the hell out of the whole race. had to watch him the whole time i was tryna get my 9th place spot (it's prolly dropped a lot by now but ye)
When you connected the aerodynamic pieces to the suspension in the rear you locked it out to basically having no suspension.. probably why you started to have handling issues
Definitely not the case. No parts/body can be connected to both ends of suspension, pistons, etc. The game will just choose for you which parts connect to which end if you accidentally do connect both ends.
@@ThePhonaxit still was the reason why he had some issues and couldn’t take jumps, the wedges were going farther down that’s the suspension when compressed which lowered the traction caused unity bounces and destroyed the wheels on jumps
I just watched one of Yzui's older videos from two years ago talking about how Trailmakers should add a camera block for the RC glitch. Now that it's here, you guys should have an RC battle!
In the higher ups some poeple only have ground contact to reset the timer, i did the same for 36.28 seconds in formula league because when you go in the curve at 250 to 300km/h your vehicle will just disintegrate or hug the wall. 😅
You should do more evolution, but ban certain blocks essential to the build. Racers without aerodynamics Planes without modular wings Submarines without buoyancy… Etc This would add a cool twist and let the evolution series return.
this is great, i think either the league above or below (muscle or jet) would be cool and interesting for the next video. loving the new evolution content! (and the crash montage lol)
I mean it's hardly different than the mk 1 oppressor from gtav. That's just a bike with jet and wings. It glides with a boost, it doesn't actually fly.
One of the reasons why you had so many stability issues after adding suspension is that the Rescue Update added a bug that causes the physics of certain mechanical blocks to completely misbehave _specifically_ when you respawn in race starting areas. It seems somewhat inconsistent as to when it occurs (entering Build Mode after respawn might negate it), but I've noticed that it causes suspension blocks to get extremely bouncy and jittery. The only method I know to reliably fix it is to respawn your vehicle _outside_ of any race starting area and you can even see that in this video because you're always really wobbly at the start of a race, but your vehicle gets much more stable after you crash and respawn mid-race
It's most probably since he had his suspension stifness so high, he was basically using solid struts that had no choise but to compress on jumps, his driving would have been more consistant had his suspension been less stiff cause he could have pulled more gs on tuns and stuff, his ar was flipping alot because of that
@@ThatSunwho That may be part of it, yes, but the bug that I described is something that I've experienced numerous times while playing, so I know that it causes very strange behavior with both soft and stiff springs
For those wondering why it explodes when he has something touching the suspension, if I were to guess, as he has proven with a catapult, it can move side to side. Therefore, when put under extreme force, like the car landing a jump, in ever so slightly glitches into the block, causing a violent backlash, and then smashing back into the block with even more force, blowing it up
Hi scrapman! Just wanted to tell you that your car actually looks like a few cars from real life, It mostly looks like the “brabham BT46B” from 1987 b.c of the fan and spoilers, the fan was used to accelerate the airflow under the car for more downforce b.c of the “ground effect” and also the canards kinda look like f1 “x wings” from 1998 these were also used to create more downforce
I've actually done some "active aero" on a car that I built. Its not amazing (at least compared to anyone using glitches), but it allows you you increase or decrease the straight-line downforce on a whim, as well as increase "inside" downforce anytime you turn. It uses 2 pairs of servos on either side of the car with tail fins. one pair I have assigned to a key to increase/decrease the downforce (5 degrees - its alot) and then the other pair I have 1 servo paired to whatever direction I am turning with on the inside (5 degrees, no downforce - 10 degrees with downforce) and it keeps the car pretty stable. I also use suspension springs instead of straight springs which also seem to help with stability. When paired with these active aero winglets, I only need 4 spoilers so it saves on weight a bit Hope this helps
This is my favourite video in quite a while! Just something about creativity, figuring out problems and solutions yourself... I want more similar videos
For your next video about the races it would be a good idea at looking what your competitors are doing which you can the interrupt into your own builds or doing a review episode on the said vehicles and the other leauges
I've noticed when racing in Trailmakers, the number of wheels affects the top speed you reach (inversely). When working on a design of my own a while back, I made a three-wheeled vehicle and it was noticeably faster than with four. Definitely had some stability problems but downforce and tweaking helped.
I don’t know why TH-cam suggested your channel to me But. I’m here for it, I subscribed, and those toggleable downforce fins are big brain, like F1 should use them irl
Your biggest issues were as such: 1. Wheel base needed to be wider by at least a block. 2. Front Facing Prop would have been better. 3. The Rear Wheels could not handle the power you were putting through them, wider/larger wheels would be better for that. Other than that, you had a neat concept.
I was just building a realistic F1 car for this event and made it my first upload and then I woke up and saw you competing in the F1 category lol. The one I was making was called “F1Mercedes Car” and is the 2022 replica.😂
The funny thing about the propeller is actually close to real life (theoretical) formula 1 where it's at the bottom and is a vacuum that sucks or keeps the car stuck to the ground and provide a "down force" without having to add the extra weight in the front/back. Obviously you still need to balance the weight in the front/back still.
I have an interesting idea for dogfights, for example in your detachable wings video, you were struggling with your tail pieces, I was thinking you could have another set of wings that are facing left/right, and somehow get them to separately raise/lower depending on which tail you lose
10:24 Top 4% you mean! Otherwise it wouldn't be so impressive! lol Btw, I had no idea there were leagues, you just made me realize I was racing a car with 16 PC when that puts me in the league that goes 16 to 30 PC lol
I'm not sure how much that weight at the front was helping you... Though, I'm not a fan of weight blocks in general, so maybe this is just bias. That aside, loved the video! Hope we get to see you try the other races in the festival
This feels very much like scrap editing here, mostly the good non overused music coming back and the general vibe, if it was scrap bravo and if this was the editor love this style
You need to use the straight suspension instead of the straight suspension since the straight suspension is giving straight bounce back to the vehicle unlike the regular suspension which takes the landing impact into the suspension frame itself at an angle causing your vehicle a smoother bounce back on the landings.
0:32 aren't you technically one of them because it's your full time job? haha. I really love the way you approach evolving your vehicles, have learned a lot from you! Thank you for your videos.
Being a You Tuber myself on a different channel there is a lot more that goes in to a video then it looks. 5 times more then that when you take in to account this level of quality, and that's after taking in to account the efficiency savings of learning the craft well. There are many times that being a You Tuber is more time consuming then a full time job at this level. So actually, no he is not one of those people.
Hey scrap I think you and Yzuie should do an episode where you take some old vehicles that had major design flaws and you both try to go over the issues and solve them.
I think the gyro steering was the root of ScrapMan's problems at the beginning. Normal steering, like he would have used before the space update, would likely have been much less touchy. Instead, maybe he could have used a stabilizer.
Something I've noticed with Quantum Rudders on Land Vehicles could be helpful for something like this. The Quantum Rudder makes land vehicles fall slowly, while it's not slow enough to completely prevent fall damage, a good suspension setup could definitely allow the car to land smoothly, I used that trick for the jump when I was doing this race, and it felt very smooth.
I am top 10 in multiple rally races propellors are probably the best thrust to power cores to weight in the game. also the problems with your vehicle flipping was because your centre of downforce was not centred and like an off centred lift for a plane it causes instability's. also for a massive increase in consistency use the other suspension as it makes your vehicle less fragile also max stiffness and dampening is absolutely a must as no downsides only benefits also remove steering help it causes some inconsistencies like you were having in the tunnel
Oh yeah, I was able to complete it in the go-kart league too, that was funny. You could do another video on the go-kart and muscle league. The next race is a sea one
That weird air twist and spin issue is due to the gyro dampening the mild forces that you experience in the air. I know because this happens to my gyro steering vehicles. When I remove the gyro, they jump fine!😁
Day 6 of asking, Dear Scrapman, I have an idea. The challenge would be to go as fast as possible in either kp/h or time from corner to corner of the grid map with a set power core limit like maybe 50 or 100. I think this would be an interesting challenge due to the need to balance aero, acceleration and the power limit.
i did a 46.8 second time with 10 power cores im bad at building and racing in trailmakers but i think 47 place in this leage is good my parts where 2 dragon engines 2 small thrusters and 2 gyros for tipping back or forrwards at the 2 jumps
Hello Scrapman! I have a Challenge for you! Try to break the Sonic boom by using NO power source ( BUT You are able to use the hinge glitch or other glitches ) Good Luck!
Its the gyro. I dont know why. But anything above 2 causes you to roll and spaz out. Should have added a 3rd set of wheels and rear wheel steering. Better maneuverability and cushioning when jumping.
