About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

"existing is worse than not existing" I will never not take that out of context
But i will
Are you sure about that 🐲
Same 💀
i will always take it in context, you dont want lots of air resistance, air resistance is also the reason why biplanes are always slower than monoplanes, because the extra wing adds more drag
But he’s not wrong tho
The weird hinge vehicle is called a splitter engine. It has 0 power cores (bionic league), so they add the thrusters on the side but immediately detach them so they can still be in a league with powercores.
Some people have heavily optimized that hinge glitch to be able to go 0 to over 5000 kp/h pretty much instantly
Thank you for the explanation
They look wild af
I believe Kosmonaut did a video on it at the end of 2022 called "BREAKING The SOUND BARRIER With NO POWER Source!"
Original design by +sebastian on the workshop. Look for creation: "bionic centrifuge racer v2"
@@Mobliz Yeah, Kosmo made a video trying to make one and he succeeded, but he already knew a bit about them
Splitter engines have the most potential out of any currently discovered glitch engine, but they are incredibly unstable and inconsistant. sometimes you luanch at diffrent speeds, sometimes you have a random ammount of roll, and almost always, you will travel at a vastly diffrent speed. Everything randomizes again on repair/respawn
A more consistant version has been prototyped, however it's unclear if it has the same speed potential yet. More testing is required. So far, it is not.
The number of glitches (cheating in my book) in these races is why I watch Scrapman play Trailmakers instead of playing myself. The proxy satisfaction in watching him beat so many glitched creations with something completely legit is tangible. :D
Yeah, I hate all the glitches that are used for racing. They need a way to filter them out
how can satisfaction be tangible bro
Ad victorium
@@Mazapineban detachable blocks and hover pads on races, simple
Eh, I wouldn't say it's cheating if it's not tampering with the game files or using external software to gain an edge.
However, it feels like it'd be more fair and enjoyable to have separate categories for glitched and glitchless creations. Sort of like how in speedrunning communities you have any% and glitchless. One is "anything goes" and the other is "play the game the intended way as fast as possible".
The fact scrapman is beating almost all glitch builds is fascinating and amazing. wow
feels like that one guy with a manual in a racing movie
I think it might be due to the nature of the glitches, there are few glitches that work well in the bowl.
a true testament to how good of a builder he is
@@nyscersul42 no it's just people not having good mastery of glitches because it takes a lot of practice.

bro, they need to add a glitchless category it would make racing a lot more fun
would be hard to moderate though

And the detachable stuff is just to get them into the league they want.
Hey, so to keep your steering “in” without using gyros, you could apply a wide hinge to the forward facing direction. I use the concept in reverse for agile boats and subs, letting me turn INCREDIBLY sharp in water, even at high speeds. Just fill in the gaps left with a rounded block that won’t collide, like the rounded 1 by 2 by 1. It’ll keep its aerodynamics like that too. Remember to double them like a mesh/smoothgear.
At speeds exceeding 250mph(I don’t remember what that is in kph) keep its turning at 5 degrees, and smooth into it with a speed of .6, strength should always be 100 and use either slim wheels or traction pads(I know drag and all but I’ve used this for ufo drives to keep stability.)
7:15 It's kinda funny seeing you start building the slimmest thing possible, and then add a ton of blocks to cover the green arrows on the back wheels instead of just placing your thrusters 2 by 2s.
I am fond of scrapman, he is able to beat races in the game without bugging the game out, this should make him one of the best Trailmaker engineers/builders
20:55 look at all of thesedisgusting glitches.... meanwhile Scrapman is having good time with normal building AN BEATING some of glitched builds. Respect scrap!
I don't play this game myself, but pushing the limits of the game can be fun both with or without glitches

Scrapman in the top ten zero glitches does that mean you are number 1 without glitches
He probably is
this video was too sick. Honestly hats off, really hats off Scrapman. Drifting sound barrier breaking vehicle that can fly and turn without pitching. It's a physics automated masterpiece.
*Built in Steering has been added to the list of building skills...*
The UFO engine glitch and the hinge glitch takes lots of mastery to learn and you have to be super creative with your solutions when doing glitching that's why scrap man is able to beat some people who use glitches.
And it makes the game a lot easier to enjoy because it's really hard to go super fast without glitches.
And also you have limited acceleration without glitches.
That's also why glitches are fair.
Scrapman also never ceases to amaze me with his glitchless builds imagine what he can do with glitches.
It's not really an issue of the mastery required to use a glitch effectively that makes it fair or not.
A glitch can require a lot of knowledge and skill to use, but it should still be ranked independently from glitchless runs.
We actually see this a lot in the speedrunning community, where glitched and glitchless runs are rankes separately.
In this game, glitched builds play by different rules than glitchless builds, and therefore should not be compared to one another by the same leaderboard
The thing is tho, even a "bad" glitched vehicle can probably reach top 1%, meanwhile a bad glitchless build is probably below top 30%
Glitched vehicles are faster than non-glitched vehicles, I think we can agree on that, right?
How is it fair exactly to put objectively faster vehicles against objectively slower vehicles?
I honestly don't even mind it that much, it's ok if they leave the leaderboards untouched, but I wouldn't say that it's fair necessarily.
okay so i spend a bit mastering a splitter engine, its fair i can go 2000 miles within a second? non glitched go 1k miles max but since used a glitch its fair i go duible them?
@@limonlx7182 my glitched vehicles end up being worse than the default xd

True, but I could never bear him leaving Scrapmechanic, I would rather him make more videos on it now
Please attempt the centrifuge in Screwdrivers, the gold medal is pretty hard to get, the test map has two races, do attempt them
This was fun!!! I love the specialized build required to push your time further!! Definitely keep making race island optimization videos! They’re fantastic!!
"Skis in front, wheels in back" is the new mullet
Keep making great videos scrapman! you have been my favorite youtuber for over 5 years now, i cant wait for you to get 1 million subs!
I remember watching scarpman for as long as I remember, and this new concept of beating records without glitching is definitely the some of the most fun I have had seeing scrapman play prolly after the scrap mechanic nomad series.
I love the fine-tuned aerodynamics here! Like you said, it’s SO hyperspecialized it’s insane!
23:10 Your up force was all the way in the front, where it gets the strongest up pitching effect. If you use the same amount of up force wedges but further back, then it will lift with the same force, but pitch you up less. Switching all 6 extra wedges that neutralized each other out was probably a mistake. But you could have maybe had 4 up force wedges further back instead of 2 all the way in the front.
Scrapman here is a non glitching input stabilization trick with the gyros. Put the gyro on max, remove the control inputs, but then put a logic gate with the turning controls but the logic gate output low to like 0.2 or 0.3. This will give you max stabilization out of a gyro and same gyro for control, but the control input strength of the gyro is controlled by the logic gate so it is lower than max of the gyro it is controlling!
Ah, player control goes through the logic gates. I was first thinking that the control input is constant in which case it would need to be fine-tuned enough that any adjustments can be done with only seat steering.
Although I guess you can have all 3: Max strength stabilization, one logic gate for constant right turn bias, and 2 more logic gates for player adjustments. Maybe even a speed sensor as a 4th input to adjust the bias strength as the speed increases. In fact, an input from a speed sensor (or several) might allow you to make a vehicle that runs the course without any player inputs (except for timing the start right).
Then again if we're going that route, then you could also put the nose on hinges and use sideways and forwards speed sensors for fully automatic steering...
That placement was *Seriously* impressive, especially considering the fact that everyone else was glitch-cheating left and right.
I wouldn't be surprised if your build was the highest non-cheat place.
Also, 24:25;
For *Maximum* intial acceleration would be my guess...
I feel happy seeing scrap man discovering how to manipulate aerodynamics like a baby discovering it has hands
You can always use a large steering hinge to turn the front of the car with wedge blocks to fill air gaps while allowing for turns without collisions. Just thought of this recently but I think armor plates can also fill the air gap maybe even a bit better.
It’s been a while since I watched your videos, but this video reminded me why you were at one time my favorite TH-camr
It's been 4 years, since I'm subscribed to Scrapman and i still enjoy his accomplishments. It honestly shocked me just witnessing him overtaking most of the glitched vehicles? *While he's using a Vanilla one!!* that's jus' skill and alot of game experience.
I have no idea who this man is, what this game is, or what I just watched but I liked it, so I’ll subscribe
Number 2 racer is using explosives in a creative way... using the blast of them to boost them forward... the long tail is probably there so it can be affected by the blast while not doing damage to the main vehicle
no it is a glich to do with the hinges on the veical the veical is compleatly powercoreless but thay had to add extra powercores to get to higher tiers thus thay put those thare that detach
number 1 and 2 are boath vary similar or the exact same making me think its a workshop creation and is the fastest it can be
theyre just using a glitch with hinges and having dynamite there cause its easy to place and can be any amt of power cores so they can be in any league.
This was SUCH an enjoyable video, and I'm someone who doesn't play Trailmakers (yet), and rarely has an interest in this leaderboard climbing type of video. Subscribed and definitely going to watch more of your videos now. Thanks.
The vehicles with the steering hinges is using the "splitter" engine. The hinges move away from the center and the opposing forces causes the vehicle to move forward very rapidly. And yes it's in the glitching category.
To explain those two vehicles with all of the hinges. These are bionic glitch engines. They detach the power core items to put them in specific classes. To explain the engines please see Project Storm to see what is known as a splitter glitch engine. SUPER unstable but really fast.
ScrapMan is so good he beats people that glitch and he dose it normally which is the most impressive part
that was a super interesting build! I'm surprised you broke the sound barrier so easily and consistently 🧐
Fun fact, building your vehicle to suit the actual track is a common thing! Quarter midget racing has carts that have larger and smaller wheels on each side. It naturally aids in kicking the cart on the track. Even the aero on them is specified for it!
I absolutely love this guy he is just purely amazing to watch man
The fact you get in the top 10 without glitching compare to most everyone else means you are better at the game than they are and you morals of not glitching is awesome to see you do it time and time again.

No drag and UFO "Glitches" are actually bugs. The difference is that glitches are errors that generally correct themselves/can be fixed with a reboot, while bugs are repeatable problems/exploits caused by oversights/shortcuts (code-wise) in the game itself.
Good job beating people using the NoDrag bug and/or UFO bug btw, quite impressive!

@@charlieGAMERBOI he's already addressed how he doesn't want to alienate his audience, but is trying to branch out and see what sticks while keeping them relatively relevant to the type of game you would expect Scrapman(billy) to be playing
He used to play all sorts of games, some of them stuck but none of them stuck like scrap mechanic and trailmakers. It's how I got introduced to a lot of games I feel fondly of.
teams of two(how ever many teams you want/can get), each person on a team builds either the left, or the right of a race car, then attach the two halves together. the catch is, each half only controls its original half. then you take them out onto the race tracks. (maybe save this for the upcoming update, and race the new track.)
Scrapman stumbling into the high rankings before really starting building and then competes with glitchbuilds to get on the list,
It all reminds me a lot of those olympic memes that's going around currently about the turkish shooter guy that looks casual with a hand in pocket while everyone else uses weird gadgets for every minor advantage, and he still got on the podium.
That's a resub from me. Getting into the top 1% in a legit vehicle is hard, but very satisfying. Top ten without glitching?! I love to see that. It's nice to watch content about this aspect of the game every now and then. This video did wake up my interest in hunting PBs again.
well done and thx
0:22 Leave him alone he's perfect
Try using a steering hinge on each wheel but hold them at certain angles to give the wheels camber, caster, toe which would help stabilize
scrapman uses the "scrapman" OP glitch which allow him to compete against all of the glitchers
I hope ScrapMan will see this comment because i will provide some information.
So first of all, yes everyone getting sub 10 sec times are glitching with the same vehicle.
The vehicle we are all using is the vehicle "bionic centrifuge racer v2" which was built by +sebastian, also the blue thing visible at 20:55. You maybe recoginze his name, because you have tried a vehicle called "hover speeder" by them
It was in the video of yours called "Some Of These Hovercrafts Have No Respect For Physics [Trailmakers]" at exactly 10 minutes.
The way the creation is working is that there are sets of Hinges, trying to push them apart, while it makes jidder movement, there are talfins who catch this movement to then have some kind of propulsion. And there are sensors to detect the ground and stay in the race. (My best time with this was like sub 4 seconds in bionic league.)
I don't really know either how it works, it's just Trailmakers physics.
Maybe you should make a video about trying to build some of the Glitches in the game. Like the No Drag Glitch, the "Hinge Glitch" (which is used in +sebastians thing) The Piston glitch (which works with any kind of moving parts, pistons, hinges servos (as long as you don't try to glitch stuff into moving parts like what i just said, or wheels it will all be good.)) Maybe the floating block glitch, but i find it hard, and also i have never done that glitch. There is the glitch you have discovered aswell in a video in which you have built a Trebuchet like a year ago, which is also helpful in building helicopters using servos to power the blades.
So i really hope that this comment reaches you, to inform you and to give you an idea for a next video.
Edit:
17:48 Under the Accesoire Category there is a part which has connection points on the side and on the bottom, but doesn't have aerodynamics, maybe you can use that as a advantage, or like to simplify things.
Another Edit:
24:30, we could get in touch via Discord (_skrylex_), if you want and i could teach you the way of glitches, if you want of course, it would be an honor, and you have the permission to record that information, and use it for TH-cam, you can also use my voice, if we get in touch.
Best regards.
The editing in this video for some reason really got me xD keep up the good work Scrapman
those vehicles you didn't understand:
they anchor themselves to the ground so they can wait for the race to start.
once the race starts, they disconnect their wheels because those just get in the way and they complete the course so fast that they are across the finish line before the 5 second leaving race countdown.
the dynamite is for power core count to put them into the proper league (otherwise they would have 0 power cores)
the steering hinge glitch is one i've seen before but i don't recall how it works. but it acts as a method of propulsion. it is most definitely a glitch though.
so far no one knows how it works, the guy wh made it guessed vibratins
Oooh! This video sparked an interesting idea: what if you (Scrapman) and Yzuei built aircraft that use the aerodynamic force for steering then dogfight each other? The potential is there. 🤪
The happiness is intoxicating
A battle suggestion for You and Yzuei. VTOL dogfight with no control surfaces or gyro stabilization or steering. Only thrust vectoring (and maybe manoeuvring thrusters) allowed. Sorry if this is a suggestion that's already been made.
Just those few wedges added 100 MPH to your top speed, really proves why aerodynamics is important
Scrapmans car trying to unexist itself 😆
An alternative to the wedges could be to have a steering hinge set to a low angle on your wheel. If your steering had a max angle of say 2 or 3 degrees (or whatever you would fine tune it into), you could just hold forward and right the entire course. You would need good down force and grip for this, but it would be easier to fine tune than the wedges+gyro steering.
For your next multiplayer trailmakers you should make 2 teams of 2 and and you build a 2 person spaceship where the main seat controls the flying and a few guns on the front and the second seat controls a gunner seat that can rotate in all directions, then take each creation and battle them together.
I didn’t even know what this game is and the fact you did this glichless is badass
ScrapMan: Don't take that out of context.
Editor: Frame it and quote it for us to hang it on a wall.
keep doing leaderboard races! We love this so much
Scrapman getting so good everything's a sound break video. Before we know it he's gonna make a supersonic weaponry you launch or something wild
bro is beating glitches by drifting. The best thing I saw about trailmakers
Scrap man, you need to try putting some or all of the thrusters slightly on one side of the build, so the same way a plane with only 1 jet would want to turn, you could potentially get the right amount of turn without any loss of propulsion. Hope this helps of you try it :)
"Don't take that out of context."
*immediately goes back and screenshots the moment just before (green arrows) appears*
Keep it up scrapman i love these videos, it reminds me of RealCivilEngineer doing polybridge THANK YOUUUUUU
the only thing i could think of to improve the speed is with making the vehicle banana shaped by using steering hinges to connect each engine, that with the front might negate the whole need to keep tapping left, but then again it could disintegrate, also, since all you need to do in the centrifuge is get inside the rings, and a wheel, you could get away with a flyer with a wheel
The fact you managed to do this is insane, reaching speeds faster than glitches
The drift sled goes crazy
YEAH FLYING TANKS SOUNDS SOO GOOOD
this speed will be so much easier when the next update comes out
24:38 I think the detachable blocks are to make it to where they were able to make flying vehicles for a wheelbase race, but that’s just my theory scrap man ! Otherwise all the other glitches could be a form of trying to make some kind of engine work to make up for speed and compact in this form of a land based race without bringing a airbase vehicle into a land based race, but that’s just my theory game theory
its so sick that scrapman is genuinely one of the best glitchless builders in trailmakers now.
i think there should be a glitch league. because i like the idea of trying to finish a race as fast as possible with all means necessary but this of course takes the fun away from the people who just want to do the race like normal
Since the devs obviously can program the race to detect certain parts (like requiring tires), it should also be able to detect if you have all the components required for specific glitches so it can put those on their own leaderboard.
Yeah the "poopy stinky sad man" league. I am serious.
@@jakubpluhar4914 I wouldn’t go that far. They should still have their scores counted as they are using game mechanics (though unintentional). It’s just those that try to avoid using glitches should be better recognized.
@@redstarwarrior85 They very clearly know that what they are doing isn't really allowed and ruins the races for everyone else except for their tiny minority of glitchers. And it's not really like they're just some genius builders that are finding glitches to innovate the game. They just like having their name at the top by building some ugly brick according to a tutorial so they don't have to expend their middling brain power.
Nice work trying to beat me, Better luck next time.
You're almost at one million! Good luck and keep makin banger vids, man!
Hey scrap, can you do the worst areodinamically possible veichle in screw drivers and then win agains every king?
Some other dude suggested that you redo your evolution videos, but the comment preview made a reply impossible, so, i'll +1 his suggestion and add my own. You did, a very long time ago, some multi-terrain transformers. I think seeing those redone with the benefit of your new experiences would be great... Could you do an all terrain sound barrier video? A transformer which can run in air, on the ground, and in water, and achieves a sound boom in each case. (I dont know if it's possible in water.)
All the aerodynamic pieces that are balancing out, but are pointing to right or left, is always better if theyre pointing up or down, to steal less energy when you need to steer right and left
24:15 He seems to have a lot of ablative material on the back of his vehicle in the form of those grid blocks attached to steering hinges, that plus the explosives that seem like they're meant to detach but anchor to the ground tells me he's probably using the dynamite to propel himself forward so he can effectively start the race at a higher speed. Probably not directly a glitch, but definitely not in the spirit of the race.
Day 20 of asking scrap to redo all of his evolution videos again
yes, child
Definitely the most impressive one so far. Literally first place glitchless
I think those confusing vehicles detach their power cores so they don't have to drag them along the race, and then use a steering hinge glitch to go super fast without using any power cores
Would motorcycle wheels not work better than slim wheels? They have better grip and are the same size, and also have good aerodynamics (I think)
