An idea for the L desk…when I had a bigger desk space, I loved having a kiddo who needed a little extra one on one school help sit with me so I could keep working but could also easily slide over to him when he needed help. Also good for a kiddo who is struggling with attention. Sometimes sitting with mama helped him stay on track. 😉

Don’t forget a regular (non digital) clock. It’s amazing how many high school grads cannot read a regular clock! I applaud you on the homeschool. My granddaughter and I had so much fun playing store with my bag of change. She bought items ALL over my house at my store within her budget and then she became the clerk and sold to me. So fun!

Another awesome room make-over!!!! You could hang a cork board over your desk to display their homework or art and change it out each week. I'm loving watching you make this your home again!!! 🦋🦋
If your babies have a lot of stuffed animals, they make beanbags that you can throw all those fluffies in and that is actually your bean bag chair. Another TH-camr I watch, someone sent their daughters one and it was super neat! Works great for storage and for seating! Beautiful room! I love watching you! 🦋🦋🦋
I was just about to tell her the same thing. We’ve got one for my grandson and it’s perfect for not only stuffed animals but extra blankets too. 😊
If you store markers with caps down (upside down) they will not dry out so fast and last longer. Your homeschool room is just perfect🦋 🦋
@janicelabuda8540 Very true! I found this out with my Cricut markers... after some dried out because I store them in the wrong position. I had to replace quite a few of them.
I like the L desk. Two options would be having different stations for yourself. One for editing one for school. Or if you have a kiddo that needs help they can come sit next to you.

Classroom looks great. Two suggestions: 1) get a stuffed animal cover that holds stuffed animals and blankets, etc. 2) I have learned that storing markers upside down let’s the ink stay toward the top.
As one who works from home, the L would be a dream. I don't currently have the space, but find myself spreading papers across the drawers of my desk and on the floor. Or if Kane wanted to come out and join you, he could have a space to work! GREAT motivation! Great makeover! You really added warmth and 'family' to that room. 🦋

I am so excited for you and the children to have this room! I homeschooled 6 children back in the 80’s and 90’s in the middle of the Amazon jungle where we worked with an indigenous tribe. We had no electricity or running water. The only access was via a Cessna airplane. It’s amazing to me to see all the advances in homeschool materials, not to mention internet access. I am so happy there has been such a growth among homeschoolers. Even in the jungle, I had a small one room mud hut with a palm roof for a homeschool room, it makes a great difference😊 so happy for you!

The room looks incredible! Great job. My suggestion for the L desk - put the 1/2 away for now. See how much room you have with one side. It's easier to go from small to large than large to small.
A painting tip... paint the outlet cover the same as the wall. ❤🦋❤
The room came out great. A perfect school room. I would leave your desk L shaped, you might end up needing the extra space and it looks good.
I suggest you keep the L-Shape to the desk and make a space there for the oldest to work and be part of the class environment, also make him a teen section in a corner of the classroom as well so that he doesn’t have to go to his room to work and you can keep an eye on him while he’s working and that keeps him focused on his classroom work plus he can always be part of the class. As a Montessori Teacher our teens need that extra as well and to be a part of the group. Take Nature Walks with the kids and do Science Projects in the Community my kids always enjoyed those walks etc..

I like the L shape it gives an extra workspace and the L divides the room more from the living room Great Job it looks so nice❤🦋
Just a suggestion, use drywall tape on the seams after you mud. Then put additional coats of mud and sand smooth. This will help prevent cracking in the seams. Looks lovely.
Idea for your markers, in homeschool room. Turn them upside down, so the liquid stays at the tip. They last a little longer that way. ( Daughter gave me that tip ) you did a awesome job with the classroom.
Oh, Kelly, I love love love your schoolroom!! I homeschooled my children for 20 years and would have loved to have a dedicated room like yours! Your decorating style is so lovely! My 2 cents-I would keep the L shaped desk! I don’t think you’ll regret having more space.🦋🦋🦋

🦋 turned out very nice!! Try turning your L shape desk so it’s not in the corner. Turn the front of the desk facing your new wall and your living room would be at your back. Then the L would be against the wall where your front of your desk is currently!

Instead of bean bag you could get a plastic kiddie pool and spray paint it a color that matches the room and a bunch of comfy pillows. I think you cold also fit a comfy chair in there if it’s cheaper . These days fb marketplace may offer something cute even a rocking comfy chair ❤looks adorable such a nice classroom

An idea for the L part of your desk, maybe put your Cricut and accessories on it. That way you always have it handy when you need it and don’t have to set it up each time. Or use it for grading or bill paying space. Just a few thoughts. I love how the homeschool room turned out! 🦋🦋
Love it! That colour on the wall is stunning. What works well for a bean bag is purchasing the bag only and using it to store all their stuffies and blankets.

🦋 loved how the room came together and how you decorated it. My daughter will be homeschooling my grandson in the next school year. He will be in kindergarten. She's lucky that their house came with a large detached building that previous owners used as a shop, and that's what they use it for. It's large enough that she and her husband were able to create a small room for her to use as the classroom. So it will be totally separate from the house. Keep up all your good work in redoing your home. Think you could be an interior decorator.
I love the color of the wall and the alphabet rug. I use to love the bear series when I was a kid, too. Bean bags do cost so much!
The classroom came out great. I agree with the person who mentioned leaving the L shape desk. Sometimes one of the kids may need extra help with something and sitting with Mama can really be what they need. Love how the room looks and the touches you added. Another awesome makeover! Butterfly

Kelly, I don’t know why but I have been waiting to see the transformation of the school room. I was always on the train of making this room the school room. You did a fantastic job decorating it and making it look like an actual classroom. Regarding the “L” on your desk…if it were me I would either remove it (since it sticks out into the doorway) until you extend the wall for doors between the LR and classroom or place your desk in the corner where the lamp is. Or, maybe you could turn the desk so that the “L” is facing into the classroom. 🦋

Great job creating a comfortable learning environment for your kids, while still keeping with the style of the rest of your house. A reading corner with beanbags would be great, you could even hang a little canopy over it and include a lap desk so your son can work there too. 🦋

When I move that is one of the things that I want. Is to have a dedicated office/ home school room. I want to make it cozy and practical. I have gone through soo many office chairs because of my weight and i arthritis everywhere. But I sit for hous on end because of school work and working from home. I'm gonna have to look into that chair. And that paint color is a beautiful color and it's probably one I'd want in so many rooms because it's comforting. 🦋

I love your homeschool room..it looks awesome! I didn't have a designated room for school for all 5 of my kids...only the last 3. With their age differences I homeschooled 2 at a time up til the end of 5th/6th grade. I too had a globe, a huge world map on the wall, white board and a cash register too. You have created a wonderful space for your children and yourself. I had a designated place for our home schooling and it was the best thing I did because as my boys got older it also gave them a space to hang out. Now that they are grown and out of college they use the home school room to gather and play games when they come for a visit. Blessings to you!

It looks great! I’ve used this color in my primary bedroom & laundry space as well. I think you definitely should put the floating shelves above your desk. It’ll complete the space. Also, maybe putting your robo vac underneath the desk so it’s out of the way once you eventually move the home school cabinet into the space.

Kelly have you ever looked into the continuous ink system for your printer? Saved me so much money when I homeschooled and the ink lasted about 10 times as long. Super easy to install and such a life saver. LOVED your homeschool room. So happy for you sweetie ❤

When I took the strips off my mobile home walls I filled them with joint compound without using drywall tape and two years later they cracked. Definitely recommend dry wall tape if you take the strips down somewhere else in your home.

I love the idea of a homeschool room. We just started homeschool this month, but my oldest had been in virtual at home the last two years. the first half all three kiddos did virtual and then we made the plunge.
The home school room is beautiful. Your new chair looks so comfortable. You could try making a beanbag yourself. My mum made two for my kids and it was much cheaper. 🦋

It’s time for me to revamp our homeschool room, but we only have 1 1/2 years left until I can hang up my red pen. So, it will most likely get a good declutter and cleaning, and I’ll wait another year to totally redo it.
