The very MINUTE I heard this song I fell in love with it, it is a MASTERPIECE it is an amazing combination of harmonies that blend the best of the indentified artists genres. I'm so glad my friend showed this to me.
To everyone that says "they don't make good music like they used to," shut up. I know this is originally an older song, but bands like Gov't Mule still exist. Just because they're not on the radio, doesn't mean they're not out there. Instead of complaining about music not being good, just go out and search. You'll discover amazing things...
I met Warren in the hardware store in Ketchum Idaho while attending a 4th of July Allman Bros concerts, he is friendly and gratious as well as a fabulous musician!
This song helps me remember what we should live for. On Feb 23,2009 the world lost a great man. Edward Bunk Jr. you will be missed by many. I hope you have found your peace.
I would love to hear Warren and ex Blues Co-op singer and friend Miranda Louise sing this great song together again at the Allmans Beacon gigs. Her new album " Sure Cure For the Blues " features a number of the Allmans too , great singer
i worked as a rodie for 18 years i have back problems that i cant sit or stand for long periods at a time now.I miss all the shows now im not even able to follow warren anymore but im still youre biggest fan.HI BRIAN FARMER
I caught it on VH1 over a year ago and remember being blown away by it. I, like you, have been after it ever since! I would buy the DVD just for that one version if I knew what it was..
fukin a track. saw warren playing with the allman bro's for three hours and then followed by the dead who played for four hours at a concert down at the gorge in oregon..was a younger lad then just getting stoned and drunk with my buds..probably one of the best days of my life, unreal music
I saw it on a friends Allman Bros DVD, but cannot remember which one. Derek Trucks is amazing in that version. I would like to see it again myself. Good luck!
Okay, heres my ultimate jam band supergroup: Warren on rhythm and lead vocals, Dave Matthews on rhythm and lead vocals, John Popper on Harmonica and lead vocals, Jimmy Herring on lead guitar, Oteil Burbridge on bass and lead vocals, T Lavitz on keyboards, and Carter Beauford on drums and percussion. Hows that?
That fat old guys ' one of the best guitar players ever! whats more hes got a humble heart...this is our theme song for a long time its spiritual and uplifting great song to learn on old or young!
okay ultimate jam band. Jimmy Herring on lead, Oteil Burbridge on bass, Carter beauford on drums, T Lavitz on keys, Bob Weir on Vocals and rhythm, and John popper on vocals and harmonica
Lets get this straight for all the knuckleheads out there. Warren Haynes wrote this song for the Allman Brothers Band for which he plays guitar. He also formed Govt Mule with Allen Woody from the Allman Brothers Band. Allen died in the mid 90's from a heart condition. Schools paled with Mule for a little while after Allens death.
@ShakinSugaree420 Just met with our DJ last week. This will be played as the last song at our wedding reception in 2 weeks! Allman Bro's rendition tho.
Have enjoyed this since I first heard it on the Allman Brothers' "Where It All Begins" CD in 1994. I'm partial to ABB live versions with Warren & Gregg dueting vocals and Derek & Warren doing the call & response outtro.
Why did I never hear of this warren hayes until I heard Dave Matthews Cortez the Killer! Gov't Mule is amazing. I am so pissed at myself for never hearing of them!
no more religious arguments! THIS IS MUSIC. Comment on the music/content of the video. anything else is pointless in this setting. That being said, I love this song. it never fails to make me smile.
Warren Haynes-The big guy singing-was/is also in The Allman Bros. Band but I think he wrote this song to be a Mule song, but he does perform it with TABB.
@heliobluesrock Helio, that be Danny Louis on Keyboards. Still with the band, and rockin it hard. Love to hear and see Woodie on Bass, but Jurgen is the Man these days. Great style, and really feels the vibe. Did not get to see Woodie live, but he was and is still loved by a lot of Mule fans. RockinRon
The first time the song was released on a cd was The Allman Brothers " Where It All Begins" not on a Mule cd. It's Warren's song though, always will be.
this is the first song I've heard by this band and I'm normally the type of guy that likes to fall in love with a band and listen to a few other songs from other bands every now and then but mostly only listen to that 1 band for like 2 years and I'm starting to think this is gonna be that band a chick I work with said she just seen this band in North Carolina she says they play there every year so I might get to see these guys. :)
Lastly, I hope it goes without saying that when ending the last sentence with "it was time" it alludes to the fact that Time, and its bromance lover named Space, are the sole creators - not an imaginary being. Also, the big bang has not been around forever; there is a date on how long ago it happened. However, there is no scale that can determine the longevity and mass that are time and space.

And when your little world seems cold,
You got to let your spirit take control.

Warren's tone is so incredible. I love his playing. And he's a good singer, too.
