Love it. I've been eyeballing that watch for some time now. Shouldn't be too difficult fixing the movement issue. Love the Spitfire. Iconic British fighter that one!
That Yelang watch I got from AliExpress was magnetized when I got it, it sat at the Singapore airport for 3 weeks which is where I believe this occurred. It wasn’t running right when I got it, I had bought a demagnetizer when I started collecting collecting and actually forgot I had it, anyway the watch was stuttering and once I demagnetized it it started running right. Im probably going to make it a routine to demagnetize my watches a regular chore. That’s a sharp watch, love gunmetal watches and the band is a perfect match.
Blue you should do a video about how to demagnetize a watch that would be a great video because as long as I have been collecting which quite frankly is almost 2 years now I have never heard of this and will definitely give it a try so I am officially requesting a video
@@MirrlyonTime I already had one ready to go up, lmao, just hadn’t got around to uploading it. Sadly it didn’t work on the watch I did, but I didn’t video that Yelang watch issue when I got it and I should have I pissed when I got it since I paid $200 for that one, once demagnetized it ran right. Far from a expert on these issues but it can also be tensioner springs, it could also have shock damage from being tossed around in shipping.
Cool watch! Not worried about this particular example with the timing as it’s a very reliable movement. For your affiliate link, you should use a link shortener service so you get metrics on clicks as well as on mobile it doesn’t really include the whole link.
Great review mate, shame about the running issue. I do really like avi8 but they don't tend to cater to my wrist size. I really wish they'd make a few sub 40 because I like what they're doing and their design language
Evidently if I de magnetize it the movement might do a little better. And yeah they do tend to make some bigger pieces, this one you might be able to get away with but it would be close. Then next one I got In, a new release coming this Friday (the new release that is) is a biggen
Huh, an NH35 running that fast? My first guess would be that the watch got magnetized during transport or something. You can get a demagnetizer for under 10 bucks on aliex and any watchmaker should have one in the office, might be worth a try. I actually used a demagnetizer once on my Sinn after i took it through the airport check and it worked like a charm. The cutout on the 3 o'clock side of the case is a cute touch, making the crown look like a propeller of an incoming warbird. Whenever I see a watch that is inspired by dashboard instruments, I immediately think of Sinn or the somewhat uncommon (and i just found out they discontinued it sadly) Laco Bell X1. I think I would prefer some of the other models from AVI-8 over this. I am not sure what it is exactly, but something bugs me about the color combination.
@@MirrlyonTime This is why some of the fancier movements have silicone mainsprings, precisely because they are virtually immune to the effect of a magnet. Unless your watch was banged up or something, I would guess it got magnetized. You can check out some vids on youtube. It's easy to fix if you have the little gadget.
@@AnCar88 yeah I did know that about silicone mainsprings but had no idea that you could de magnetize a watch, or that a magnetized watch could cause an issue like that. Learning something new all the time!
@@MirrlyonTime To be fair, in everyday use you normally don't get your watch magnetized. But for example if you work next to big speakers or in a lab or if you go through the airport security scan and stuff like that it can happen. I would totally suggest investing the 10 bucks or so to get a simple demagnetizer at home. I think there is even an app for iOS that can check if your watch is magnetized, but I've never used that.

Thanks Andrew! Very cool watch
The custom rotor is simply fantastic
Pretty nice piece. I did have an AV8 myself some years back definitely very well made watches. 👍
Yep and pretty cool looking watches as well, thanks Adrian…..I ain’t touching the movement in this one 😆

I will def look into that thanks! And thanks for watching please subscribe if you haven’t yet already :)
AVI-8 has great watches minus it running fast still looking good I need to get one in the future
Yeah I do like quite a few of the offerings that avi8 is putting out that’s for sure

@@MirrlyonTime that could potentially do the trick
Hey Chris, did you check if the watch is magnetised?
No I did not though it is running a Seiko nh35 so if that movement is magnetized I see no reason this one isn’t?
