I made my first waterslide on a mug recently. I was disappointed to find out that microwaving it could be hazardous if you're not sure the mug is microwavable so lesson learned there. What was really disappointing was that I also learned that even if delicately washed by hand the waterslide will (not can) come off. Is this your experience? Thank you for sharing your work.

Thank you for this video. My project came out great because I watched this a few times before I started. I already had a brand of water decal paper that I got before watching the video and did not have a good result. So I then ordered the Sunyscopa you mentioned in the video as being the better of the two you demonstrated and retried my project with that and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.

Hi! Very nice video. Please tell how is A-sub waterslide decal paper. Before I buy Decal Paper!!. Please tell which epoxy should be use to get good finish coat for food safe and dishwasher . how to apply it to not get the brush marks. also tell how to apply dishwasher safe mode Podge as it will not get the brush marks. Excellent Tutorial! I loved how you explained things. I have a few questions. Where can I get the white blank tumblers? Will I have to use Epoxy, or Mod Podge first? Which would you recommend? I wanna make one for my husband.
Also, say I use the truck design (example) for a waterslide but wanna cut out permanent vinyl to put around it. Will the sealant spray affect the vinyl? Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

One more question would you know if the clear one I can apply on a black color mug or should I buy the white waterslide paper? Thank you in advance
The only problem with applying the clear one to a black mug is that you won't be able to see any of your colors on a black mug :( We recommend using the white if you're applying to a darker color

I see you use polyurethane spray for prep and sealer .... I've bought Krylon crystal clear acrylic coating (non-yellowing) spray for sealing wood signs etc.... can you tell me the difference? I know I will have to buy polyurethane for this waterslide stuff but for top sealer which is better?
Without having used the product myself it's hard to recommend it or talk on the differences, but I would think those brands would be comparable :) We use and love Minwax Polyurethane Clear Satin Spray Sealer: amzn.to/3cIRSh5
Would it be easier to do contour tool instead of hand drawing a border around the truck?
Thanks for the super helpful videos! I've been watching a ton! I have a question about spraying the waterslide...Is there a reason you seal it before cutting it in the Cricut? Would it be the same to have Cricut cut it, and then apply the seal? I was thinking as a way to avoid Cricut struggling to read the lines if they're covered in something shiny. Thanks!!
hello!! So, we're not "sealing" the waterslide before cutting, we're strengthening it! :) The waterslide paper has to be super thin for it to feed through the printer, but once that's done, it needs to be much thicker and less fragile before soaking it in water and using it. So, we apply lots of coats before cutting to make it thicker and stronger!
If you seal it after you cut it, you run the risk of overspraying the edges and having your poly/acrylic (whichever you're using) curl around on the edges. If that happens, you're not going to get the edges to lay flat without the help of something like Micro Set (or other solvent based products) that modelers use to get waterslides to soften and conform to multiple-angled surfaces. It's just a time saver.
I am a little confused about the keychain disc. You show it on a white background but the link on amazon shows clear. So do they all come with white to protect them from scratches and you only take the white off the front?
We painted the back of ours with some white acrylic paint! :)

Yes ma'am, in fact, you can use this material ONLY with an inkjet printer :)

Nope, because this isa clear backed material you would not be able to see of the colors

Do you have to bake it? I noticed the vinyl that I bought says to bake it.
If your brand says to, then yes ma'am follow the directions :) All brands are a little different!

I always have issues with my Cricut when it comes to cutting my waterslide decals. What am I doing wrong?
We always cut it on the Kraft Board setting so it cuts all the way through :) Without any info we can't really help further. Hope this helps!

how do you coat the picture and how many times?
We recommend sealing it with Minwax Polycrylic: amzn.to/2KzC588 with a soft brush. 2-3 light coats do the trick

I tried the undo and it never got rid of the background
Undo does not get rid of the background, which is done in the importing process that I show at time 14:11 of the video.
What kind of printer can we use for the water slides ?
I can't get my waterslide designs to use the whole A4 paper. So much wasted space.
Cricut Print Then Cut can only be a maximum of 6.75"x9.25". It's a bummer for sure!
maybe try using some other program to print your image and just cut it by hand
