    Hey Anthony, I have been following your instruction as I go through this complicated process of creating my own business. Thank you so much for the knowledge. I am a PT practicing in an outpatient PT in MD. I have an NPI for that. I recently created my company to do home PT on a side. I tried to get the organizational NPI, so I can get the PTAN# for Medicare part A. But it says if I am a sole proprietor I should complete the individual application. When I try the individual application it says that I cant apply for a second one since I already have one from my company I am so confused. Please help.

    Hi Anthony, thanks for all your valuable information. I have completed the whole group NPI application except the physical location of the clinic. I am planning to lease space from a gym but have not ironed out all the details yet so I don't technically have a confirmed practice location yet (delayed due to COVID). Can I still apply for the group NPI and use my house address like I did for my business license and once everything is confirmed go back in and update the location? Or should I wait to complete the group NPI when I have the confirmed address? I want to start working on my Medicare application so that once business' are opening back up, I am ready to roll. Thanks!

    Hey Tony, I have my current NPI for my current employer. But I plan on starting a mobile cash based practice and just registered for my LLC. Would I need a type two NPI that is different from my current NPI? Does my LLC also need a NPI?

    • @LearnMedicareBilling

      The type 2 NPI is also called an organizational NPI which is the NPI for your business.

    • @LearnMedicareBilling

      If you will be billing through your business then yes, you will need a type 2 NPI for your business before you enroll your business with Medicare.

    you mentioned to give my patients a superbill, i can use my type 1 NPI. but do i also need an EIN on my superbill for my patient to get reimbursed? if so, do i automatically need a type 2 NPI if i have an EIN?

    • @LearnMedicareBilling
      @LearnMedicareBilling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have an EIN then you should get an organizational NPI. It is quick and easy. But there are providers with an EIN and no separate business so it is not always required.

    Hello Anthony, I've enjoyed your TH-cam Channel on Medicare. Thank you. I tried to message you with not response, then today I heard you request questions here. Sorry this is so long.
    I think I have a Medicare ID from when I was Med B indep contractor in CA, which I am understanding is the PTAN? Medicare ID =PTAN? Correct? And is that only for CA? I am currently in MD. Am I allowed to enroll in another state? The FAQ seemed to indicate that I can't. Any guidance?
    I applied for the NPI 2 but I did it for CA because once I get a handle on MedB Telehealth, I have a client from my previous business there that I want to be able to treat. Does that number follow me to another state?
    It looks like there is still a reassignment for company I contracted with. So would I use this option?-- "Remove the reassignment and add a new reassignment or a practice location."Thanks for all you do. Adina

    • @LearnMedicareBilling
      @LearnMedicareBilling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      RESTORED Therapy and Wellness If you’re in a new state you’ll need to get a new PTAN.
      Your personal NPI and your business NPI are national and won’t change.

    • @LearnMedicareBilling
      @LearnMedicareBilling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you already have an account in PECOS then you will start a new enrollment at which time you’ll choose the state you’re now in.

    If I have a business and I use my NPI number for my business can a workplace that I work with A W 2 also claim or use my own N PI number?

    • @LearnMedicareBilling
      @LearnMedicareBilling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ovsan Ian yes. When you are an employee or an independent contractor for another provider your personal NPI will go on the claim as the rendering provider while the business NPI will go on the claim as the billing provider.
      The same holds true for your own business.
      Your personal NPI will be listed as a rendering provider and your business NPI will be listed as billing provider.
