I just saw BabyeMetal and DethKlock on their recent tour. My favorite band of all time is Clutch. One tour, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band opened for Clutch. What I remember from that concert was not Clutch, but Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. It was so good, and so unique. The crowd participation was akin to what BabyMetal does in concert, and it left us wanting more from Clutch. I felt, that BabyMetal get the crowd going similar to how the recent show with DethKlock was (not comparing bands at all). Both were good, but the energy from BabyMetal/Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are without question. Different is good!
Demonstarates why the Su, Moa, Momo (and even Yui) don't have public social media accounts. Not just for their privacy and ability to have normal lives, but to insulate them from the craziness.
The idol thing in Japan is actually fucked-up, but it's actually similar to what Disney or Nickelodeon does with their teenage superstars.
But it's an industry problem, nothing wrong with the band or the singers themselves.
I watched this video and just had to laugh. What a lot of people don’t realize is the Kami band (both versions) kick most metal bands right where it counts.
Seeing Babymetal tomorrow in Seattle, haven’t looked forward to a show this much in a very long time.

the worst part of babymetal bashing is that none of these critics recognize what a kick ares band the kami band is,and that they are just as much a part of babymetal as the girls. the truth is they haven't a leg to stand on in criticizing the kami band,so they take it out on the girls as if they're all there is to babymetal. it's ridiculous. if these critics heard just the instrumental tracks of babymetal songs they'd say "omg this is f-ing amazing!"....but it's babymetal!!!
I’ll always say haters are just closeminded people. There are sooooo many crazy concepts in music industry already, in any music genre. People shouldn’t be surprised anymore, especially (real) musicians. I mean we can like it or not but being respectful is better than hating.
Love your channel guys, but if you can handle some constructive criticism: you really need to correct the title of this video!

There is something with Baby Metal's music that doesn't click with me, but there no reason to throw shade on them just because their music is not for me. I don't know about being good for the metal/hard rock scene world wide, but they have been good for the Hard Rock / Metal coming out of Japan. And, if for no other reason than that, I wish them continued success.

There are many bands I don't really listen to but I do appreciate their existance because they make many people happy and that's a great thing, diversity is good for the industry.
Ive just got back from Japan a week ago. While there i looked for Babymetal in several music shops. Not a single one had Babymetal in the metal section but in the idol section.
Maybe we're the ones getting it wrong?

I got your All Time Low fan right here! Saw both them and Babymetal in Pittsburgh this year, it was awesome! Only wish Babymetal’s set lasted longer and I spent the extra money to get closer to the stage!
The last guy worried that there would be copycats of Babymetal but Babymetal exists at least partly because metal bands have become copycats of each other. The fact they are a refreshing change from the norm is a big reason why they are popular.
I think its funny how some project their perverted minds on others. They accuse fans but they are the ones who demonstrate to everyone where their minds go when they see young females.
When I watched this vid I was torn between pissed, and disappointed.... Some of the artists which I like can have such negative reactions to 3 little girls trying to do their thing.... and don't get me started on the more sexual comments...Like, really??? I might be old, but I never realized Limp Bizkit was considered Nu Metal..... I thought it was something like alt rock .... Too many genres to keep track of.... And as for the girls liking groups like Cannibal corpse, etc....The take I get is that its not so much that those groups are on their spotify list, but more like a band with an unsusual performance or vocal style that they find interesting. Have you seen the youtube vid of compilations of scenes where BM is sitting off stage and just watching other bands perform? They take their job pretty seriously, and observing how other do their stuff, to probably improve their own performance. I'm sure Su's crowd interaction has improved so much by watching how western bands interact with their crowds. YOu'd think after 10yrs, people will stop using trashing BM as clickbate, but you occassionally still see those guys on youtube... I think there was 2 just last month.... and there was that producer guy that thinks everything is autotune....🤘🦊🤘
In regards to the "toxic" or passionate fanbase you brought up in regards the guy from Kindred. I think alot of that comes about from the fact they were just such young innocent girls when they started and that overprotective mindset kicks in.
Also the metalheads and fans that hate them are the ultimate in biased gatekeepers who don't even know why they hate them, they just think they are supposed to. The give reasons they aren't metal because the girls don't play the instruments. Well tell me what Instruments Ozzy, Rob Halford , Bruce Dickinson , Dio Floor Jansen and so many other heavy metal frontmen are playing?
Another is the musicians are just glorified session musicians don't play on the albums (guys from the Kami band do play and take part in writing different songs on the albums) , members change and so on. How, many musicians have been in Ozzy's bands? How many metal bands have had multiple musician changes?
How many of these bands have members that don't actually play on the albums? Producers such as Bob Rock and Mutt Lange have been known to record guitars or bass, and other parts on album. Sometimes one or two members do all the writing and record the bulk of the instruments.
The bands they call "real metal" and they love do the very things they say make Babymetal not metal
Limp Bizkit is almost solely responsible for the sad state of metal today.

I'm not a Babymetal "fan." I only like a few of their songs and I would never buy any of their music. But there is nothing about them that bothers me.
From my time hanging around with bands most are supportive of other bands and can appreciate what they are trying to bring to the music scene but there are a small minority that see it as a competition and generally will never say anything good about other bands. If you see the list of famous metal acts and people who are positive to them it would blow your mind, most of whom they have met and consider to be friends, at one point several years ago the girls said the only big names in metal they were yet to meet were Iron Maiden
Im pretty sure a lot of these people have just seen gimme chocolate and reacted to the first part of the song. But thats the only song that is remotely "Chipmunk style". Then when Su starts singing its fine, but for that 10 seconds they judge the entire 60+ songs...stupid...😊

Yeah that Crossfaith part surprised me too and I like Crossfaith since I watch them live here in the Philippines their energy is crazy.

Rob Zombie wasn't the first, and certainly won't be the last, to defend Babymetal. We've seen many big names in metal show their support including Metallica & Slayer.
Along with Deftones & even Exdious among others. Holt stated Why not? People wanna talk shit? They're out there. They have more energy than a lot of metal bands that don't like 'em.

Which for years wanted to collaborate & finally we got "Metal" which is f*** brilliant!! Even Mr. Heavy Metal himself Marty Friedman has followed them since the beginning.

I can’t blame these people for not liking baby metal. It took me several years of disliking them before I converted and started liking them. Don’t hold it against them.

Having lived in Japan (and sporting a degree in Japanese literature) I can't even say how much I appreciate this video. Love how you both show such a great understanding the culture that Baby Metal rose from, and of the fandom related to them. Personally not exactly a fan, but I admire BM's talent and hard work ethics, and no hardworking band deserves to be disrespected.
I think a lot of the confusion around Babymetal stems from the fact that they are a constructed band, and that makes many people jump to the conclusion that they must therefore be a cynical commercial construct. A disingenuous product based on a gimmick, put together by Amuse to make a quick buck from an undiscerning audience. But that is just so far from the truth. Sure, Babymetal was constructed. And no, the people fronting the group are not the driving creative force behind it all. But even though Koba happens to be off stage, he is genuinely trying to make good and original music. There is a sincerity to Babymetal, and everyone involved has some very real talent that these critics just completely seem to miss because they lack the confidence required to form an independent opinion. You don't have to like the music (or the business model), but if you dismiss it as just a gimmick, you have actually made a very real mistake.
All bands are constructed.

X-Japan is very much metal lol, they are speed metal/heavy metal/power metal band, you can't listen to them an say they are NOT metal unless you consider stuff like Metallica or Iron Maiden as just hard rock lmao

I have always thought that the most hypocritical of the fans are those "true metalheads" who criticize any band that is moderately commercially successful, not just Babymetal.
I mean, they say that Babymetal is a "prefabricated band" that is only made to sell, that it is only in it for the money, that it is a product of marketing and PR, and so on, but dudes, do you think your favorite bands are only there for the applause and screams? That they don't sell merchandise and give it away? That they don't have contracts with record labels that do what they can, depending on the size of the company, to promote them? Yeah, they're probably not in it for the money, right...
The same with the bands and musicians who think this way, like some of those who appear here.
Metallica sells more than many other bands because the PR promotes it more or because its music attracts more? In that sense, so the music is written by others but Babymetal's songs are performed by them and by the band, legitimate singers and legitimate band, and if their music makes many people feel good, is that because of advertising? Meaning, from what I say with Metallica, Babymetal sells due to the action of the PR and marketing people? Or do they sell because the music they take wherever they go makes the people who listen to them feel happy and good?
Come on, those who criticize or even hate are supposed to be people in the business, they are musicians, they know what it is and how it works, their words only make them look hypocritical and even envious.
We all have one or some bands that we like too much and we wish they were more successful than they are, I mean, I would like more people to know The Gathering and Epica, their music fills me with all kinds of sensations and they are, along with Depeche Mode, the only bands I listen to more than Babymetal, but not because they aren't as famous and popular as Nightwish or The Cranberries, for example, I am going to let loose and say crap and a half about these bands (by the way, I said The Cranberries because I just remembered a review, back in 2003, in Rolling Stones magazine, of The Gathering's album: "Souvenirs", where they mentioned that one of the songs on the album, "You Learn About It", would have been a world hit if this had been performed by a band like The Cranberries).

Can’t get more capitalism than Metallica that went after Napster for pure capitalistic reasons. As for Download Festival, if BabyMetal was petty they’d tell them to F off. But BabyMetal isn’t petty and all they want is for people to enjoy music. Whatever music you like to consume.

I think the main point isn't whether Moa is a legit fan or not, but the fact that Nergal disrespected them even tho they spoke so highly and positively about his band. He's not expected to do the same or "lie" about his tastes, for sure, but at the very least he could've been honest in a respectful way.

What's so unbelievable about a teenager liking some of the most popular death metal bands, like my little sister used to be a fan Sigh (a death metal band) and she was 15, was she scriped or brainwashed to like them ?

It's clear that their answers are scripted, because when they revealed the top 10 songs pick for Moa for their 10th Anniversary, none of the songs Moa said was her favourite from 2nd and 3rd album were on that list (Karate and Papaya)

Also dude they are real humans, their taste would change, I can give my top 10 list of best songs now and then give you an entirely different list a month later, I can like a song now and despise it a year later, doesn't mean my taste is scripted lol, it just mean that I'm a normal functioning human being who listens and exposes himself to a lot of music and discovers new favorite stuff along the way.
