The members of Dream Catcher said in an interview that they were shocked by BABYMETAL and fell in love with it, and decided to aim to become a group like them.
I think watching and listening to them will bring you a wonderful experience.

Hell yeah! Welcome to Babymetal! 🤘🦊
They have been performing since 2010 at the age of 12 and 11 and created their own genre fusing J-Pop and Metal. This is a fun summer Metal Festival song calling on all the guys and gals to dance and sing like crazy and have a good time. Tom Morello is a famous Guitarist from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Also, Babymetal has a number of songs incorporating English, or 100% in English. They did an English version of their fan tribute song "The ONE" for all their Western audiences. Lead Su-metal also does a few lines in audience engagement parts of concerts in many other languages during world tours to show her appreciation of that nation's fans.
Here are a few suggestions that should give you a taste of what Babymetal is all about! Also, ALWAYS do the live version when possible, they are 100% a performance group:
1). Monochrome: A recent, mid-tempo, hard-rock style song with metal elements, and an epic performance.
2). BxMxC: A few years old, but heavy-hitting rap-metal. Lead vocalist Su-metal shows off her ability to own a new genre perfectly.
3). Road of Resistance (Official, Live in Japan 2015): An epic power metal battle anthem, and an ultimate performance showcasing how these 17 and 15-year-olds flawlessly control a sold-out crowd of 20,000.
4). Akatsuki (Budokan 2014): Lead vocalist Su-metal's solo and an epic... "Ballad". Showcases her vocal abilities very well.
5). Gimme Chocolate (Official): Live debut performance from Legend 1997 Concert in 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday. This meme-hit that went viral and garnered Babymetal international attention. Truly a juxtaposition of thrash metal + cutsie J-pop.
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊🤘🦊

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
Always glad to see new reactors getting to know this amazing group recently finished the Babyklok Tour in the US and making the fans going bonkers with this new/latest collab song along with guitar legend Tom Morello, he's the guitarist of legendary bands like Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave, you also probably already know about him being one of the boss guitar fight at Guitar Hero 3 videogame.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock (not Kpop) group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
    About the song:
"This is officially the first new song by the newly reborn BABYMETAL, now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL.
This song is very up-tempo and one that was created with the envision of a summer festival taking place in a metal village and everyone forming a circle to celebrate the festival.
BABYMETAL is ready to make this summer even hotter with their new song.
BABYMETAL are now celebrating a very special collaboration with legendary guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.
This collaboration with BABYMETAL will become a very exciting opportunity for both artists transcending generations."
    Tom Morello comment:
_"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I’ve been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of METALI!! I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"_
    Next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV (2015)
And yeah, you will find BM got a lot of songs unlike to another and everytime you meet a new song from them you'll find hard to get a favorite one, always expect the unexpected in this journey.
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      th-cam.com/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      th-cam.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/w-d-xo.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      th-cam.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/w-d-xo.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/w-d-xo.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      th-cam.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/w-d-xo.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      th-cam.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/w-d-xo.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      th-cam.com/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/w-d-xo.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.
      th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html
And here's a BM guide (the long one).
      th-cam.com/video/gDne0xwniTg/w-d-xo.html
There's a more recent beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until this year unlike the other one.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊One of the big differences between KPop and JPop (and any related K or J genres) is that KPop takes a lot of influence from American pop music and is aimed at the international (mainly American) market.
Japan has its own huge music market (second biggest in the world after the American market) so their main focus is the Japanese domestic market ... so most Japanese groups and bands will sing in Japanese, they don't need to sing in English to be successful.
BABYMETAL are unusual in that they decided they would tour extensively outside of Japan, but they continue to sing predominantly in Japanese. They do throw in English words and phrases to many songs and they have 4 songs in English - 2 of them have Japanese and English versions, 2 are only in English.
They started in 2010 aged 12, 11 and 11, they made their first trip to Europe, the UK and America in 2014. Now, 13 years on from their very humble beginnings as a sub-unit of a bigger JPop Idol group, they are internationally the most successful Japanese band of all time (domestically there are many much bigger artists, but their success has been limited or is even non-existent outside of Japan).
BABYMETAL's albums have been particularly successful - In 2019, the band released their third album, Metal Galaxy, which peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest charting Japanese language album in the chart's history. They also became the first Asian act (not just Japanese) to top the Billboard Rock Albums chart.
BABYMETAL are pretty much unique in that they invented their own genre fusing Metal with JPop aesthetics (they called it Kawaii Metal - kawaii means cute as in adorable) and their own way of doing things. Now they mix all sorts of different styles and genres with the metal. Do not try to categorise them as just one thing or to put them in any one box. You will not be able to predict them, just expect the unexpected. They don't copy anybody or follow the same format as nearly every other band (for a start they have brought choreographed dance to metal).
They are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and, since the start of April this year, Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in).
The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues.
After Yui left Su and Moa continued as a duo through to their 10th anniversary and a bit beyond for the next 4-5 years, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) taking turns dancing in the third spot. Momoko was the only remaining Avenger from about March 2020 and was finally revealed as the official new third member on 1st April this year.
They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. There are many people who have played in the Kami band as they all have their own bands or other commitments and they swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of concerts and they are the ones you will see in most live performance videos.
The Kami Band became the full time support for all live shows at the start of 2014 and have been with BABYMETAL ever since - but only for live shows, they do not record the studio versions.
The Kami Band of the West - American musicians - have supported BABYMETAL in the more extended foreign tours since 2019.
BABYMETAL have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also mix and blend so many other styles and genres with the metal. Some songs are good hard metal, some lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between.
Their official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but BABYMETAL are best experienced live. Even they say so themselves.
Hopefully you can see Jake Muller's second comment replying to his main comment, he will have provided you with an excellent list of suggestions for songs and live performances that you can use for more reactions.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". It is very different from Korea or other Asian countries.
The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

The title of this song is "Metali!!" or "Metari!!" depending on where you're from. And this is BABYMETAL getting their kawaii back!!!
Well, you’ve opened a can of worms!
BABYMETAL has been around for a bit over twelve years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (or the “Greek chorus” as I like to call them - officially "scream and dance" and backing vocals) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018, and only earlier this year Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer.
BABYMETAL is NOT K-pop (Korea) or J-pop (Japan, where BABYMETAL is from) or even J-metal. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. If you have a notion to check out more BABYMETAL, I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. Until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL. There is a playlist on TH-cam ("BABYMETAL Top Twenty") that includes those two songs and the one you just reacted to; I highly recommend you give it a look, it has a mix of MV’s and live performances, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole (you're in for a wild ride!!!).
One suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or tens seconds before restarting, that way you regain the flow of the song. 😉
    Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!!
    KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Babymetal are pretty much the pioneers of the whole blending Asian pop with metal genre. Babymetal call what they do "kawaii metal" (cute metal), and the term seems to have more or less stuck. There have been a number of other groups that have riffed on the same concept, but none of them have had the longevity of Babymetal, who have been at it since 2010. Babymetal's discography is extremely varied, as they love to incorporate elements of all kinds of different genres into their songs, so they are impossible to pin down to a particular sound.

  • @cuttysark8017
    @cuttysark8017 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Welcome to the Foxhole. Its called that because Babymetal's patron deity is The Fox God. Babymetal started back in 2010 when a producer from the Amuse Agency called Kei Kobayashi heard Suzuka Nakamoto singing in a short lived J-pop group called "Karen Girls" and though her voice would translate well to metal music. When Su joined the Amuse school themed J-pop group "Sakura Gakuin" Kobayashi got to implement his plan. The conceit of "Sakura Gakuin" was that the girls sang all together and also as smaller sub-groups based on school clubs like cheer leading, science and cooking and "Babymetal" started as the "Heavy Metal Club" with Su as the lead singer backed by Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi. The girls were just 13 and 11 at the time. They were so popular that they were spun off in 2013 with their own backing band call "The Kami Band". In 2017-18 Yu left because of health issues, but, curiously, she is still under contract to Amuse even though she's made no public appearances in almost six years. Babymetal continued with just Su and Moa for a while with replacement dancers and in early 2023 they eventually announced a new full member called Momoko Okazaki, who is also an ex-member of Sakura Gakuin.
The seated figure at the beginning of the video is wearing a fox mask and is playing a shamisen (a Japanese 3 stringed instrument) which we hear through out the song. The title of the song is "Metali" and is a mash up of "Metal" and the word for Japanese summer festivals, "matsuri" and it encourages everyone to get up and dance. The summer festival references are also seen in the crouched dancing, and the backup dancers wearing hyotoko masks.
The instrumentation and the staging of the video reminds me of the 2013 video BM did for Megitsune. In that they challenged Japanese traditional attitudes towards women and in the "Metali" video they also break some Japanese taboos; they wear outside boots on tatami mats, they kick over tea trays and they have Momoko doing some kabuki style vocals and posing which is traditionally only performed by men. So I recommend you next check out the official "Megitsune" video from back in 2013 with the OG members Su, Moa and Yui and you'll see the changes and similarities. Then check out "Tales of the Destinies at the Tokyo Dome".

    Welcome to the Foxhole! 🤘🦊🤘
Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base).
Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess.
Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers".
Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin.
Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal).
Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon.
Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs.
Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only Avenger (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot!
Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making non-chalant quips that may or may not seem to be intended as jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch.
BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure.
AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021.
    They were:
    Momoko Okazaki (see above).
Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist.
Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive.
Keep in mind, we are notacult.

Suggest you watch this LIVE compilation performance with LIVE vocals from one concert edited with footage from LA Forum where Moa takes over the lead vocals from Suzuka in Headbanger.

kーpop?Japanese music has such a deep history and musical culture that it cannot be compared to Korean music. the Korean music industry, has a short history, and there are many cover songs of Japanese music, and they often order composition and choreography from Japanese artists. Japan has a wide variety of music, songs, and artists. and Japanese music is very diverse.
Until recently, Japanese artists had a language barrier and the Japanese domestic market was too big(The Japan music market is the second biggest in the world,) so they were not actively selling overseas, that's why most of the artists are not known outside of Japan, so there are still great finds.
Now, Japanese music is attracting attention,
So, Fender also sees Japan as an important base
Fender's world's first flagship store "FENDER FLAGSHIP TOKYO" opened in a prime location in Harajuku on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Thanks, always down to discover new music. Japan is a very cool country with a rich history and a lot going for it in many areas to say the least and I'd love to go back. I've long noticed Korea treats Japan differently than the rest of the world in terms of making special Japanese albums with specific Japanese marketing etc. That said, for me so far, in music and drama Japan doesn't really compare to Korea (nor does anywhere else). It's "K-pop" and drama that moved me to create a channel and has been a revelation for me (no I do not like it all). Though there's been some great stuff (of which Babymetal seems it may be one) and there's def things I prefer about Japan. It's not a competition though lol. I'll take great things wherever they come from.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.

They played to sold out arenas and outdoor festivals here in the U.S. and this song (Metali) was an audience favorite and even though it just came out a few months ago crowds chanted along with the girls.
