Look up some of the compilations of Yui staring. I think it's more that her English isn't/wasn't very good at the time, but she spent a LOT of time just staring and smiling, and it's adorable.
There's a song a Brazilian poet wrote once, about some criticisms his work was getting, that says: "You may not love me, but your daughter does!" That's pretty much it: they will piss off a lot of purists, but thanks to them a lot of young kids are getting into metal ama keeping the style alive, fresh and young.
It's hard when there's a language barrier and no translator on hand. Also, they're probably not used to interviewing young teenage girls if they normally cover metal bands and the like.
