Hey Vladimir, that's so awesome to hear! Thanks for watching and hope the info helps. I always overlook the Remote Version option but it's very powerful.
By far the best tutorial I've seen on multiple clip grading. Very nice explanations, fast-paced, and complete. Thanks so much for sharing your understanding!
Alex- very impressed how thorough your tutorials are. I find that when testing or demonstrating - especially something like this. the over push of red or green etc. with the offset makes it easier for viewers to quickly see the results across the thumbnails. I understand that you are actually using it the way you would in real life scenarios, by putting a quick grade on it, and that is equally as important I guess. I would add that another place that could be applied for grading multiple clips is in the multicam timeline - right clicking and open in timeline that gives the stacked clips - when that is open you can jump to the color page and grade all the full clips from the multicam. And then when you go back and switch it back to the regular multicam, every cut clip in the multicam has a grade applied. Anyway although I already knew all this stuff, I really appreciate that fact that you covered it very well for those who have not yet been exposed to this information. They can be assured that this is being taught to them properly and accurately. Unfortunately, I can't say that for a lot of Davinci Resolve youTubers. Great job, Alex,

I do try to provide a bit of the why behind that what and how as I think that’s where really learning comes from. Then it can be applied to other scenarios. You’re absolutely right though...another application would be in multi cams for sure. I’ve done that one myself but didn’t mention here as it was already a long video. I’ve always done the extreme adjustment just because the subtle ones are hard enough to see on my screen let alone on TH-cam after compression. This was excellent. I have one question. I have a multicam clip created from ATEM Mini Pro ISO files (I'm not using the DR project file that ATEM creates). My timeline is complete and can't figure out the smart filter to filter on multicam clip angle. Got advice?
Thank you, Craig. That's a great question and whilst I feel as though it should be possible, there isn't a smart filter option that enables you to use the Multicam Clip Angle or Name (from the track header of the MC clip). I'd recommend a slight workaround as I'm an advocate for flattening your multi-cam clip before you do any grading or exporting of your project. So, 1) Duplicate the timeline and rename or add suffix 'grade' or 'final'; 2) Open the MC in the timeline (right click > Open in timeline); 3) Select all the clips in V1 and add the number 1 to the metadata field for 'Angle'; 4) Repeat this step of all clips in V2 but put 2 in the Angle field; 5) Repeat for all the tracks you need to number; 6) Open the duplicated timeline again; 7) Select all the MC clips then right-click and then Flatten MultiCam Clip; 8) Open the flattened timeline in the Colour page and now filter by Angle (Media Pool properties) and you should then be filtering the timeline clips based on their angle metadata.
@@AlexCameron-Depiqd wow, that's quite a workaround, 8 steps. To follow along your suggestion, I need to learn what flatten is. A bit too much information at one time but we can pick our favorite and just watch that a couple of times. After we've fiddled about and messed everything up, is there a way to remove ALL color corrections from every clip at the same time. Thanks.
I add such videos to specific playlists I make and watch multiple times. This is not the easiest of programs to learn but I've wasted too much time and money on the other programs and therefore appreciate the thoroughness.
awesome post mate! quick question: are you using an apple mouse? having a hard time "copying/pasting" just with the click using the apple mouse... thanks in advance!
Thanks so much Gabriel. Really appreciate your comments. To answer your question, no not using an Apple mouse. As you say, it's very hard to use the third mouse button commands with an Apple mouse. I have the MX Master from Logitech but you don't need that one. I would highly recommend getting a mouse with a dedicated scroll wheel/third mouse button. Razer do some great ones as do Logitech that also have other customisable buttons than you can have run small macros and shortcuts to helps speed up your workflow. Hope that helps!
Does anybody know why the "Add Into new Group" option might not be available for me? Working with Canon Cinema Raw Lite Clips in addition to Panasonic GH5 Vlog clips in a 1080p timeline 23.976fps
On a related topic, could you do a tutorial on working with text and titles? Specifically, how to get consistent titles across the entire project when you have lots and lots of text elements in the project. I can't tell you how many times I have had to re-render a final project because I forgot to turn on shading in a text element.
Great idea. Where are you doing your titles and text? In the edit page and using Text+ effect? Or are you using Fusion Templates and Macros. This can be a super handy way of ensuring consistency and continuity without having to copy and paste or make up from scratch.
Found apply grading doesn't work if you use two different film sources on a timeline. They seem to have to be from the same source video rather than multiple ones shot on different cameras.
Man... I was looking for this info for a while... Da Vinci is so powerful, but so not intuitive.. I'm trying to switch from Final Cut, and obviously I see many power option I did not have in FCP.. BUT... I'm soooo much slower now.. It's kind of frustrating... Hope I get there.. little by little
Keep at it man! The learning curve is well worth the effort. What is the main work you're doing? Are you working as part of a team or do you work solo on projects?
We desperately need a video on how to send your entire project off to a storage drive and then recalling it when we need it. I find Resolve 17 to be very weak in this aspect, but it could be me. Premiere Pro is just perfect at it. But again, maybe it’s me. Also when I do get it working, it doesn’t seem to save subclips...help!
Thanks for your comments. Have your tried using a project archive? That for me normally ticks all the boxes. The other option is to use the Media Management feature possibly. Not sure what you've tried already?
That’s a good point and most things can also be done with either a keyboard shortcut or menu item too. That said, even a cheap mouse with a middle mouse button would be a really good investment. Should cost the earth either. Out of interest, what function in particular are you missing out on without the middle mouse click? I take it you have a trackpad/laptop?
@@AlexCameron-Depiqd yes, track pad. I rest it on the arm of my sofa when I'm on it so no room for a mouse, Haha. I'll check the settings for a middle mouse click, it would make things a lot easier. Thanks
it is un-intuitive but you use same process as the still and that you just drag the still into nod area in new clip and it appears as shared nod :D :D this is magic done by resolve :D

Thanks for the video! When I turn on "Use remote grades" all my color correction of the entire clip takes off. Am I doing something wrong?
what Lut are you using?...I'm interested in getting some Luts.
@@AlexCameron-Depiqd currently i use text+ in edit page. i create one on the timeline and then duplicate it as needed
Found apply grading doesn't work if you use two different film sources on a timeline. They seem to have to be from the same source video rather than multiple ones shot on different cameras.
When I make adjustments on one clip it automatically adjusts across all the other clips. What is happening
Good
i don't have a middle mouse button on mabook
🤯
Thundercats!
HO! 😉
Hmm....in Resolve 17.4...several of these techniques no longer work. The plus and minus key technique only makes the picture bigger or smaller.
I just need a tutorial where they don't use a middle mouse button
That’s a good point and most things can also be done with either a keyboard shortcut or menu item too. That said, even a cheap mouse with a middle mouse button would be a really good investment. Should cost the earth either.
Out of interest, what function in particular are you missing out on without the middle mouse click? I take it you have a trackpad/laptop?
@@AlexCameron-Depiqd yes, track pad. I rest it on the arm of my sofa when I'm on it so no room for a mouse, Haha. I'll check the settings for a middle mouse click, it would make things a lot easier. Thanks
19:02 @AlexCameron-Depiqd you are a cheater :D hod did you saved shared nod as still ?
it is un-intuitive but you use same process as the still and that you just drag the still into nod area in new clip and it appears as shared nod :D :D this is magic done by resolve :D
