It has arrived. Let’s dive into a complete look at this stunning new boxset. #arrowvideo #4k #4kultrahd #4kcollection #physicalmedia #alfredhitchcock #psycho
Just a note. I made a slight informational error. Which I’ll rectify. Psycho II has had a Blu ray release in the UK before from Arrow video. It’s 3 & 4 which are debuting on the format.
Psycho III was released in theatres in 1986. Directed by Perkins who unfortunately didn’t get the praise the film deserves at the time. It’s a gothic masterpiece with an excellent soundtrack/theatrical score by Carter Burwell
I know right. I cannot wait to have some Hellraiser in glorious 4K. Having the fourth film included is a bonus. Although it’s not amazing. Still I’ll take it.
You should get that Monday. Thanks I really enjoyed unboxing it. That’s my movies sorted for tonight. I don’t know if I’ll get through them all in one sitting though.
Great video, wasn't going to purchase this as I have them all on blu ray, but I'm tempted now. Told my dog to quiet down thinking he was barking, he looked confused. Lol
😂 our dogs are always barking at anybody that walks past the house. It’s a lovely set. Not too expensive either for what it is. I’m content with these 4Ks now and will never buy them again.
Although the Psycho films lose quality through the run they are always entertaining and that is because of Anthony Perkins' involvement and love for the Norman Bates character . The shower curtain slipcover is clever and it suits the understated artwork design . Nice collection of the films .
Thanks, I really do like the design. I don’t think the sequels are anywhere near bad films at all. Put it this way, us collectors can’t complain about a complete psycho collection on 4K. I’m very happy I’m looking forward to getting into the set.
thanks for this. I've been waiting on my paycheck but think i am going to get this. Might not get the hellraiser one but damn this particular set looks good
Great unboxing video, I've got this on pre-order. I'm a massive Psycho fan, I think it a vastly underrated franchise. I've got the German box set that came out 3 or 4 years ago, which has some incredible bonus stuff, and has the remake, and 1987 pilot Bates motel. I'm curious how much better the new 4k transfers will compare to the blurays.
I watched Psycho last night out of the set which is the Universal 4K disk. It looked fantastic. Moving onto Psycho II 4K tonight which is a new restoration by Arrow. You’re right this franchise is underrated.
Looks a wonderful set which I look forward to adding to my collection. I wonder if the Psycho disc contains the actual original mono track in lossless (which the previous Universal 4K stand-alone release didn't despite being touted as such). Psycho 2 and 3 most certainly were released theatrically, I saw them both at the cinema back in the 1980s as a teenager. Always felt the second one was excellent. I also saw the 1998 remake at the cinema and found it utterly pointless and empty.
I’m going through the set. Psycho is the Universal 4K with arrow artwork on it, nothing new there. I thought the transfer looked great. I watched Psycho 2 the other night again. What a sequel! Amazing film! I’m starting to think it’s the greatest horror sequel. The levels of continuity are astounding.
@@skincrawlers2510 yes I agree with you, I remember back in 1983 when the news came out they were doing a sequel to Psycho, everyone (myself included) thought it was sacrilege and that the film would be terrible and trashy. How wrong we were because it's a superb sequel in every way. It cleverly pays homage to the Hitchcock classic without being a mere re-tread. Great atmosphere and surprisingly touching at times. Anthony Perkins is amazing as ever. I'm not so keen on Psycho 3, it seemed to go off in some (for me) too odd directions. I think Perkins, as director, had his budget significantly reduced by the studio so perhaps his original vision for the film was compromised. The fourth, like you, I feel is so-so. It definitely feels like a TV movie, also I find Olivia Hussey miscast as Mrs Bates, doesn't really work for me. Still it's got interesting parts I guess.
@@skincrawlers2510 Yeah I only ever been a fan of the first three films and might get this set eventually. Just saw you're at 500 subscribers and that's great to see. Congrats! 👌
Cheers man appreciate it 👍 The first three films are the best ones. I don’t mind number 4, it’s not as good however. I have never seen the remake and have no interest in doing so anytime soon.
Damn this looks good - I am getting my box set tomorrow and I’m rather embarrassed to say I’ve never watched these movies. Seen bits and pieces of the first but don’t think I’ve seen a single bit of the others. So I’m truly excited to delve into all this films at the perfect time of the year. Thanks for getting me pumped up man! 👍🏼
Nothing to be embarrassed about. There’s a few infamous films I haven’t seen one being, I spit on your grave. I watched the original Psycho again last night. It’s a showcase of Hitchcock’s craftsmanship. What a movie, the score is next level. There’s no film quite like it. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the sequels all the films together create a great character arc for Norman Bates. Have fun the sets awesome.
@@skincrawlers2510 - I’m pumped for it. Probably will do my own unboxing of it on my channel and then commence with binging all 4 of these. Excited to dig in and share my thoughts. I spit on your grave - cult following of a film for sure. I had heard so much about it that I had to experience it…very unique film for sure
It’s a nice set, I wasn’t sure about the artwork but it looks good. Mine arrived this afternoon but the plastic was broken so going to have to run the gauntlet of Arrows customer service now
From what I gather it’s the newer remastered soundtrack in mono. The first film in the set, Psycho (1960) is the Universal 4K disk that has been available for a while. Arrow simply put new artwork on it.

I’m a fan of it. I am on the cusp of rewatching the film. I forgot Anthony Perkins directed it. Cheers for the info.
Always was a fan of part 3 had it in every format
Iv recently got my boxset and seeing the remaining 3 movies in 4k is amazing. Roll on October for the beast that is hellraiser

Nice video! Pre ordered mine from Amazon should receive it next week. Cannot wait.

Hiya psycho 3 was at the cinema I went to see it 1983 it was a freezing evening in February seems like yesterday to be honest
Sorry 1986
Awesome that was a bit before I was born. Time can seem to pass quick sometimes doesn’t it.
Love the colors they provide throughout this set and nice job with the unboxing bro and congrats on reaching 500 subs! 👌
Thanks a lot. Just started watching it. It looks even nicer close up. 👌😃

I haven’t seen any of them tbh. Very nice.
Very good films. If you’re looking for a horror franchise with character depth, you can’t go wrong with Psycho.

That’s a shame. I suppose this happens sometimes. I’m sure you’ll be able to get a replacement. It’s an awesome looking set. 😃
Nice vid. Does the first psycho movie in this set have the correct mono tracks?
