Butcher was not saying sorry to The Boys in hospital because he had embraced the dark side. He was accepting his death, but he changed his mind later in the episode when he saw what Ryan was becoming.
Absolutely I can totally feel that for butcher, after Grace death he lost all hope in Ryan. He is just pissed and tired of this shit, he wants to kill homelander,so he agreed to Kessler
I got goosebumps when I saw her trying to scream and finally being able to do it because of the suffering, and I've been watching reaction after reaction and I don't know how they don't go crazy with it, although the girl in this video had a good one
Honestly I took that final shot with Butcher in the car as a kinda optimistic moment of hope. The Supes never caught him, and they have no idea how deadly Butcher is now... He's gonna bring hell to them.
I didn’t get hope from that him seeing his literal dark passenger made me feel uneasy. It looked like it wasn’t even him in his own body when he ripped nueman apart 😭
From a writer's perspective, he's a wild card. In the next season, I suspect he'll be the deus ex macchina in some encounter with a supe. It's hard to imagine the show not giving a final showdown between Butcher and Homelander since they've built it up so much. That said, Butcher is his own agent now. I think he'd kill any one of the boys if they tried to stop him.

I don't think Kessler is truly sentient because he really did speak with parts of Butcher's subconscious, not as a separate entity like Venom or something.
I think people are underestimating just how powerful Butcher (Kessler, really) is. Homelander lasered Newman, and nothing happened to her. Not even a scratch. But Butcher was able to tear her in half with ease, like ripping a piece of paper. That's insane lmfao.

Neuman just physically wasn't that tough (though clearly tough enough that taking her out with a bomb or something would take something that would cause too much collateral damage).
People are underestimating how strong Butcher is right now. He was able to dismantle Vicky in half when her blood is much thicker and stronger than most. He’s gonna give Homelander some problems but he still ain’t as strong
Annie can fly, Sage is the real villain, Grace and Neuman are dead, Kimiko screams for the first time, Ashely taking V, Butcher-Vecna-Venom in his own way, The Boys captured… i mean WOW

Honestly feel that Mallory effed up here. Butcher was actually being gentle, trying to ease Ryan into it slowly. Guess Mallory let her love for Ryan get the better of her, because that was WAY too much to drop on his head all at once.
I thought it might have gone that way when she kept continuing despite Butcher's warnings to the contrary. They kept showing Joe Kessler, and I figured he was going to get the better of Butcher somehow and that seemed like a logical resolution to that. Mallory has been traumatized so much, I think she lacks the nuance to see why she should have been more careful there. Ryan might have come around to the idea if he hadn't been trapped.
@@neil2444 There's no nuance. The writing has been super sloppy at times, and it dips into soap-opera levels when it needs a character to do something for plot reasons. We have two seasons now of characters acting like this. Ryan is even worse, his actions make no sense unless he's supposed to be like under 8 years old or some sort of sociopath.
Ryan's an idiot. He was going to confront Homelander with all that info dumped on him and that could get him killed. This was their last chance to freely speak to him and even Butcher says it

This is technically a fact. Joe was referring to Butcher's tumor as V-ied up, and we know he took the real V to try and stop the side effects of temp V from S3. So, the V power manifested as super-powered cancer.
Annie VS Annie was INCREDIBLE, one of my favorites moments, Erin’s performance in this episode is another level and i love the representation of her journey during the whole season ✨
She definitely redeemed herself by being boring the whole season. And also her face change seemed to have settled with time and she looks much better. Guess the surgery was just too recent in the first episodes. Her acting was simply amazing as villain
She was actually popping heads in that sanatory from where they found Lamplighter. Some people first then thought its maybe her, but till now we didn't saw her anymore.
That was a stupid way to try and recruit Ryan. She just dumped everything on him about the murders, rape and having to kill his own father, and while Ryan was still processing, she tried to hold him against his will. She sounded so desperate and unhinged i just knew Ryan will fuck her up! They should just have let him go for now and let him experience Homelander evilness himself and I'm sure after a while, Ryan would have come to them himself. Instead they went about it in the most stupid was possible! Now they've turned him into a murderer and it's now likely he'll pick Homelander with everything that comes with it! They've basically pushed him to the dark side

Butcher's tentacles look similar to the ones that came out of the rabbit that was dosed with temporary compound V (episode 5). I wonder why they are only working when he is going against all supes though. Almost like the temp V is competing against the permanent V
Stan Edgar is an outlaw at the moment, remember he was going back to prison when Neuman broke him out of the car, he is incapable of taking custody of Zoe. We’ll definitely see more of him next season without question but he’ll have to team up with Annie or whoever’s left of The Boys in order to do anything- my question is WHERE TF IS SAMEER?!

Agreed. I didn’t really love Starlight’s story this season, but even I was loving that scene you mentioned, largely due to Erin Moriarty’s performance.
Yeah which is kind of unfortunate, not much really happened this season and not really much of a conclusion. Most episodes were either just slow, didn't progress the story any further, or was just needless shock value with no substance. It was just all setup and no payoff yet.

At first I thought Butcher ruined everything, but come to think of it, Neuman would be presumed dead or something because she would be hiding, so the same thing would happen in the end. Maybe not so quick, but it would.
"Slow" is the complaint of choice for Millennials and Gen Z when describing any entertainment or story. If a bomb or a decapitation doesn't happen every scene, It's slow. Super hero films are considered high art. Books are obsolete. Attention Span is measured in seconds. What a grim future for nuanced and complex plotlines, which are used solely to set up the next explosion. Will anyone even know who Shakespeare or Dickens are in 10 years. I hope humanity can survive the coming oversaturation of extremism and information overload in the coming years.

Okay, here’s my prediction: They somehow infect Homelander with the virus that attacks V in the blood. He starts to die, but then to save him Soldier Boy hits HL with his V-frying nuclear blast. It works and the virus is stopped, but then Homelander is just human. Butcher laughs at him and dies happy knowing Homelander is just a powerless worm now.

This final was such a good build up for what's in store for season 5 like what the hell🤣 My mate said what if a massive plot twist was that butcher imagined that whole encounter with Ryan and Grace cuz that means that butcher might not have needed to kill Newman and set the dominoe off for marshal law😬 just something to ponder over the next 2 year
To contrast with another comment here : I was disappointed how they handled Newman in this episode. They spend the entirety of Gen V and season 4 humanizing her (even certain scenes in season 3) and it was clear to me from the start that she was *nowhere* close to the levels of villainy of Homelander, Stormfront or even Soldier Boy. She was literally a normal ass politician who sometimes popped a few heads to keep her secret protected (and at Stan Edgar's demand). Compared to Frenchie who killed dozens of people because he was paid to by little Nina, or even compared to bloody Butcher, to me she never had done anything that we could see that wouldn't allow a redemption.

Neuman’s death is not disappointing IMO. Someone in comment section said that they set her up to be dangerous but turned out doing nothing, I think actually there is a dedicated story writing technique for it though I can’t remember the name. You setup and build up something (a powerful weapon for example) and then when the boss fight starts, the weapon got destroyed at the first second, leaving you more attracted to the story, wondering about how one would beat the boss now? Now, depicting Neuman isn’t the purpose of the story here, Butcher is.
I literally had same reaction when Kimiko finally spoke! It took me a few seconds in the heat of the moment to realize! 😂 Can’t wait for season 5. Shit is about to hit the superhero fan.
In the comics if I remember correctly Kimiko is a child so her relationship with Frenchie is like a father Daughter relationship if I remember correctly
No spoilers since The Boys Comics’ story is very different from the show’s story but in the comics Butcher was the final villain of the story as he was trying to kill every supe in the world at once. So I think they might be trying to go somewhat in the same direction as the comics since Butcher has embraced the dark side now and has the supe killing virus now

Every reaction I have seen with a man and a woman, the woman immediately noticed Kimiko was talking and the guy didn’t. When I watched this with my wife it was the same thing. She noticed instantly and it breezed past me. Wonder why that is.

Intro: It's hilarious how after 4 seasons Spartan still doesn't understand what kind of show this is and keeps trying to cram storylines and character developments from The Boys into traditional superhero-type frameworks. Pudgey was right about Sage wanting to still keep her eye on her plan despite Homelander trying to throw his b.s in there. Of course Spartan couldn't understand how in the world that could be the case and called it a terrible read on the character. 😂 Even under the weather, Pudgey gets it. ..and Spartan puts the show in the bin. Hopefully he'll take it out for season 5.
The Season Four finale has done nothing for me except reaffirm what I felt after the Season One finale, which is to cauterize any interest I might have had in this series.
I think we actually DID say goodbye to Butcher unfortunately. He's gone. Boys will be up against it next season but it won't be Butcher who saves them.
For once I REALLY disagree with your guys analysis and opinions on this episode and the season as a whole. I feel like the character development for a lot of the main characters went over your head because you’re too locked in on your favorites and your pre-conceived biases about the characters and not allowing them room to change and grow
My biggest gripe with Neumans death is how the show/writers keep changing how the "invulnerable/impenetrable" skin etc works....we see her shot point blank and has acid tossed on her in the first episode... In Gen V she cuts her palm with Maries knife... Weird how thats possible w her "invulnerable" skin...and finally Butcher pulls her apart... Suspension of disbelief in superhero shows/movies etc is fine...but when you establish rules, powers etc...its important to stay consistent... Its my main issue with how easily she got killed in the end
Cuz butcher is op without V with v he's extra op his strength can break the skin and also she can cutt herself cause she's hella strong she could've even used her blood inside her to help the cutt
She was probably just invulnerable by conventional human standards. Annie bruised her without effort when she decked her during the farm episode. The biggest problem the humans have is that they don't have someone truly powerful on their side. Annie is probably the strongest, but in show her best feat is lifting the heavy end of a car. We don't know if Starlight could have burned Vicky's eyes out, because they were never in a position to try.

Annie VS Annie was INCREDIBLE, one of my favorites moments, Erin’s performance in this episode is another level and i love the representation of her journey during the whole season ✨

That was a stupid way to try and recruit Ryan. She just dumped everything on him about the murders, rape and having to kill his own father, and while Ryan was still processing, she tried to hold him against his will. She sounded so desperate and unhinged i just knew Ryan will fuck her up! They should just have let him go for now and let him experience Homelander evilness himself and I'm sure after a while, Ryan would have come to them himself. Instead they went about it in the most stupid was possible! Now they've turned him into a murderer and it's now likely he'll pick Homelander with everything that comes with it! They've basically pushed him to the dark side

Super hero films are considered high art. Books are obsolete. Attention Span is measured in seconds. What a grim future for nuanced and complex plotlines, which are used solely to set up the next explosion. Will anyone even know who Shakespeare or Dickens are in 10 years. Okay, here’s my prediction: They somehow infect Homelander with the virus that attacks V in the blood. He starts to die, but then to save him Soldier Boy hits HL with his V-frying nuclear blast. It works and the virus is stopped, but then Homelander is just human. Butcher laughs at him and dies happy knowing Homelander is just a powerless worm now.

To contrast with another comment here : I was disappointed how they handled Newman in this episode.
They spend the entirety of Gen V and season 4 humanizing her (even certain scenes in season 3) and it was clear to me from the start that she was *nowhere* close to the levels of villainy of Homelander, Stormfront or even Soldier Boy.
She was literally a normal ass politician who sometimes popped a few heads to keep her secret protected (and at Stan Edgar's demand).
Compared to Frenchie who killed dozens of people because he was paid to by little Nina, or even compared to bloody Butcher, to me she never had done anything that we could see that wouldn't allow a redemption.

Neuman’s death is not disappointing IMO. Someone in comment section said that they set her up to be dangerous but turned out doing nothing, I think actually there is a dedicated story writing technique for it though I can’t remember the name. You setup and build up something (a powerful weapon for example) and then when the boss fight starts, the weapon got destroyed at the first second, leaving you more attracted to the story, wondering about how one would beat the boss now? Now, depicting Neuman isn’t the purpose of the story here, Butcher is.

No spoilers since The Boys Comics’ story is very different from the show’s story but in the comics Butcher was the final villain of the story as he was trying to kill every supe in the world at once. So I think they might be trying to go somewhat in the same direction as the comics since Butcher has embraced the dark side now and has the supe killing virus now

Intro: It's hilarious how after 4 seasons Spartan still doesn't understand what kind of show this is and keeps trying to cram storylines and character developments from The Boys into traditional superhero-type frameworks. Pudgey was right about Sage wanting to still keep her eye on her plan despite Homelander trying to throw his b.s in there. Of course Spartan couldn't understand how in the world that could be the case and called it a terrible read on the character. 😂 Even under the weather, Pudgey gets it. ..and Spartan puts the show in the bin. Hopefully he'll take it out for season 5.

For once I REALLY disagree with your guys analysis and opinions on this episode and the season as a whole. I feel like the character development for a lot of the main characters went over your head because you’re too locked in on your favorites and your pre-conceived biases about the characters and not allowing them room to change and grow

My biggest gripe with Neumans death is how the show/writers keep changing how the "invulnerable/impenetrable" skin etc works....we see her shot point blank and has acid tossed on her in the first episode...
In Gen V she cuts her palm with Maries knife... Weird how thats possible w her "invulnerable" skin...and finally Butcher pulls her apart...
Suspension of disbelief in superhero shows/movies etc is fine...but when you establish rules, powers etc...its important to stay consistent... Its my main issue with how easily she got killed in the end
Cuz butcher is op without V with v he's extra op his strength can break the skin and also she can cutt herself cause she's hella strong she could've even used her blood inside her to help the cutt
She was probably just invulnerable by conventional human standards. Annie bruised her without effort when she decked her during the farm episode. The biggest problem the humans have is that they don't have someone truly powerful on their side. Annie is probably the strongest, but in show her best feat is lifting the heavy end of a car. We don't know if Starlight could have burned Vicky's eyes out, because they were never in a position to try.
Sage reminds me of a more mellow Joker. Just wanting to see the world burn, and having fun with it.
You guys are a bit too critical on the show. This was a good ending.
