A smart phone creates an illusion of connection, but in a depersonalized and decontextualized manner that allows people to "see" eachother in a dispassionate and depersonalized manner, and also to present a carefully curated and edited version of yourself that may have very little bearing on your reality. In a sense, internet relationships are no richer than the false intimacy between two avatars. In its worst forms, this constellation of disconnected intimacy allows internet "trolls" to say absolutely devastating things toopeople who are baring the bloodiest wounds in their psyches on social media, and the frightenly de-humanized drone attacks on civilians halfway around the globe, conducted with no more interaction than a first person shooter video game.
Its interesting. As a revert, I was deeply regretful after COVID, but as I learned more about Islam, I was less scared and COVID didn't bother me as much
