  • This video covers the pathophysiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of a carcinoid tumor and carcinoid syndrome. It is ideal for med students and for newly qualified doctors who need a refresher on endocrinology.
What is it? A Carcinoid tumour is a slow-growing neuroendocrine tumor that originates in hormone-producing cells that line the digestive tract.
Symptoms? Major symptoms include diarrhea, wheezing and facial flushing.
Diagnosis? The diagnosis can be confirmed by measuring the amount of one of the chemical byproducts of serotonin (5-HIAA) in the person’s urine.
    Treatment? Surgery, embolization, somatostatin analogues

Fantastic video and was so precise and informative. It's interesting that IBS and others that people think they have but haven't been diagnosed shows how you shouldn't assume and know that early detection is key for all cancer. Thank you Dr.

Thank you for the video and the enlongatment.
I discovered NET in 2022, and I have autoimmune atrophic gastritis, and it makes me suspect of two things:
1 - I don't feel asleep since 2000, and I take amitriptyline & one diazepam and it doesn't knock me in bed.
I envy people who feel tired, and get to bed to catch some sleep.
2 - Do the medicines I take really work?

My wife passed away just 8 months after diagnoses. She had grace 3 NET. The video does not address grade 3 tumors.

What if they can’t find the tumor?

I have another question for you that I really already know the answer to but wanted to confirm the consensus.
Tritium...naturally occuring Tritium is extremely rare on Earth. The atmosphere has only trace amounts.
Heavy water H3O Tritium is used at every water cooled nuclear reactor on the planet. In sciencetific papers outline how tritium actually splits and permeates the metallic structure of the reactor and seperate cooling loops that come in very close proximity of each other. So Tritium is permeating each site shown by the 2007 Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League Vogtle Georgia cancer study, Indian Point NY over 65,000% above background levels of tritium and every Normalized discharge effluent inventory of every water cooled reactor. It would be too complex and expensive to try and filter it, 2 ALPS in Fukushima and still can't remove it, so they just release it. As this Tritium is taken up by the plants, animals and us humans by inhalation (gas phase) pr ingestion (liquid phase) it either replaces the hydrogen in the cell or binds directly to the cell to form Organically Bound Tritium. Through the food chain it is being bonded and staying much longer in our bodies as it once was thought to pass within a month. This is causing DNA strand breaks, micronucleus formations, cell necrosis or aptosis, chromosal aberrations and various other phenomena thus negatively affecting human health. Those in the medical field and others need to help us out here trying to get the nuclear industry and politicians to turn these reactors off for good. Tritium is used for the fuel in the fusion reactors and isn't the only thing released. H3, Carbon-14, Krypton-85 and Xenon-133, Iodine-131, particulates and an "other" catagory. Beryllium-7 and Cesium-137 increased in the soil at Vogtle and many others are found in and around every site. Nuclear reactors are not emission free or carbon free and I've clearly shown it here, wouldn't you agree? Civil engineer thank you

One more thing....IPPNW oversight committee to the Fukushima Health Department thyroid cancer study.
Too many people said it was overdiagnosis which could've been true for the first wave of testing but not for those that developed liasons after the first test. The difference between what was projected amount after the releases compared to the actual amount is astonishing to me Dr. If you haven't read it please do and tell me your thoughts. If I don't respond I will, I don't get all my notifications.
