I have this exact watch. I love it. It gets more ‘wrist time’ than my Rolex Explorer 11, which it reminds me of. Its a beater alright. I have it running with a -5 seconds a day accuracy. Highly recommend Vostok.
That's awesome! I've heard a few complaints about the accuracy of Vostoks, and even this model in particular, but mine runs fine, almost as well as yours. It also largely comes down to how well they are regulated - a pretty easy fix.
It's an original true GMT unlike the modern GMT like the Rolex or Seiko with independent hand. There are polished 24 hour bezels available that will make it wear smaller as well. Two piece Strap or one pass Nato to keep the height down and some Scotchbrite for those rough edges & I think it's a winner.
Is this the original GMT design? That makes sense, I actually didn't know that! I appreciate all of the new things you teach me. I think I kind of like the look of the brushed 24 hour bezel, though will probably replace this for a different one, one with a clickspring. Since recording this vid I threw it on a NATO and couldn't be happier. instagram.com/p/B1JnZ2wlsnG/ Was going to hit it with some sandpaper, though scotchbrite is a good suggestion, slightly less abrasive. Cheers mate!
@@ChronometerCheck Yeah. That's how the original Rolex GMT Master worked. The watch was created for Pan-Am crews, and it was intended to keep the main time view to the Greenwich Mean Time (the time zone that is required for all aviation planning, weather forecasts, and schedules) while the 24H hand, at the same time, told the crews if it was AM or PM in GMT (that can be confusing at times) and, rotating the bezel, could indicate another time zone (usually that of the arrival airport).
@@neutronalchemist3241 That's awesome, good to know. I love learning new things about watches I already own thanks to comments. Such an enjoyable part of the hobby. Cheers!
Great review. I’ve got 5 Vostoks. Absolutely love Vostok and Orient both great watch companies that produce great mechanical/automatic watches at great prices.
Thank you Ryan! Completely agree. Both excellent brands with great value for the money, and I'd argue it's almost impossible to find a more fun watch under $100!
That Amphibia dial is amazing, the color is beautiful! I have a 420831 Komandirskie, a brushed Amphibia like yours and a Amphibia SE no date, also brushed! These watches are great conversation starters and something you won't see someone else wearing at the same time as you!
I have a Komandirskie with a 24 hours dial with the same case and I absolutely love it. You are right about the bracelet, I took it off and I normally wear it on an army green NATO or an elastic MN style strap. I'm really enjoying your reviews Anthony, keep them coming!
It's been 6 months since I've bought this piece and still love the heck out of it! Actually think I enjoy it even more now than when i first got it. It would certainly look great on an olive nato, will have to give it a try! I've never owned a Marine Nationale strap, but I do agree this watch would be a perfect pairing. Will have to dig into your Instagram for some pics of it. Thanks for the suggestions and thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave thoughtful comments on my reviews! Looking forward to more of your videos as well.
Damn it man! Your review cost me over a hundred bucks. I grabbed one along with a new StrapCode Hexad bracelet for it. No regrets whatsoever. Keep doing what you’re doing! Thanks
Hahaha, I have fallen victim to many reviews slashing at my wallet, so it's only right I pay it forward! Really awesome watch, despite my growing collection it still gets plenty of wrist time. Hope you enjoy - the Strapcode bracelet is a great call also, their bracelets are top notch. Hope you're enjoying your new piece!
Hi ive bought an automatic Vostok Komandirskie 350604 , it has a separate 24 hour dial that revolves under the 12 , a square window that show the changing of AM to PM and also a date window, bought the blue dialed with chunky 9 12 and 3 numerals , looks far better on a Nato Strap, Thanks for your video
I am awaiting delivery of mine. (I live in Europe so it could be only a few weks, instead of the stated 30 to 60 days)They were out of stock for quite a while, and when I got a notification email, I did not wait a second. The 'new' ones have a blue-ish dial and a rubber strap, which I' ve been told is actually surprisingly good and for the price actually well worth buying seperateley for other wathces (as opposed to a certain Japanese brand in particular whose budget options at twice the price are just painful). Still have more than enough Natos to swap, and lately I'm really into canvas straps... Bracelets, however nice, are just not for me. Canvas, leather, nylon. In that order.
I ordered one! And in keeping tradition with watch collecting, my nickname for this watch is the concordski, which was the nickname for the soviet concorde copy. I say this because back in the day rolex gmt masters were featured in ads with the concorde! And given the classic style of gmt watch, and the russian take on a travel watch, if this existed when the concordski flew i feel like pilots would have used this! I'm so excited to get mine!
Nice sharp video and nice sharp watch too! I have the non GMT-version of this Komandirskie and it does has some sharpish edges. What a great watch though - I love it. Cool video. Thanks!
Not sure if this was already mentioned but other reviews of these Vostok GMT watches have the GMT hand slaved to the hour hand making only 2 time zones trackable. Otherwise thanks for a great review.
Super cool Vostok! Had my eye on one of them GMTs for a while now. I'm surprised you didn't like the bracelet. That's the new solid link Universal Bracelet. Much much better than the standard bracelet. The clasp is pretty bad, but I like them overall! Very nice on the new camera as well! What did you end up going with?
Thanks bud! It's a very fun watch. The bracelet does feel better than the one that came with my Amphibia, but just overall feels very light and unsubstantial. I think it would be passable for someone who doesn't own any other straps, though not the best long term solution IMO. Thank you! The camera is simply... An upgraded camera-phone, Samsung Galaxy S10E which I partially got because of how good the camera is. Definitely looks way better!
Curious how well they hold up over time. They’re cheap but if they fail after 6 months it’s a waste of money that could’ve been used towards a better timepiece. If it lasts 5 years you about got your money’s worth.
I really like this Komandirskie. The value for money is incredible! However, I would like to point out that the GMT function marks 2 time zones and not 3 as shown in the video because the GMT hand is not independent. In practice it works the same way as the first GMTs introduced on the market.
What a shame!! :) I ordered one anyway :) I will probably chuck the bracelet (well, I'm sure I will definitely...) and put a mesh on it. Otherwise, I reckon it will be a keeper.
@@szilarddietzel9071 The original Rolex GMT Master could not set the 24h hand separately. That possibility was added only in the GMT Master II, in 1983, after 30 years of production, but the original one remained in production until 2001.

The Amphibia was pressure tested in a lab and it took 820 meters.

So far the Vostok I've owned the longest is about 2 years old, and still running strong!
5 yrs later, is the vostok still working?
Yes, I own quite a few now and all are still running. Granted, I rotate through watches often, so it's not like any of them have been a daily wear
Trying to decide if I should hurry up and get this (and turn it into a coke gmt) or get the cadisen c1032 for work. Help me out guys!!
If you want a dressier piece, Cadisen is a much better choice! This watch is much more casual and sporty.
Where'd you get your mesh bracelet
Strapcode (disclamier: they sent it to me for free to show off).
I've never been bothered by cheap junk bracelets. But bracelets have never appealed to me either. Except for a beads of rice.
