I wonder if the general audience knew so many comic book references (that weren't in cartoons or movies at the time)? Ant Man back in the day, did anyone know him (other than comic book readers)?
@@DocRunaway Well, this incarnation of Ant-Man (Scott Lang) was only at most a year old. And I highly doubt the character ever was mainstream. So the writers were definitely current with their Marvel reading.
@@DocRunaway At the time, Superman and The Hulk (had his own TV show) and maybe Spider-man were the only superheroes known to the mainstream audience (from this sketch). In fact, the only 2 other superheroes that people in this era would be familiar with would be Batman & Wonder Woman.
Who says Garrett Morris was playing the Scott Lang version of Ant-Man?
I think his costume is the Hank Pym version.
And Lana Lang was in the 1966 Superboy cartoons so she might be known to the general public.
For the record, Erica Durance was the hottest Lois Lane ever!!!
Anyone else notice at 9:00 Louis accidentally said Clark in her list of names then just improvised her way through it😂
.
She read too far ahead on the cue cards.......she actually got nervous and started reading the beginning of her next line, running it into the back of the previous one.
.
The Hulk in the bathroom....."Did some DIE in there?" "ALL Right it's NOT supposed to smell like roses!!" I was 13 when I watched that and couldn't breath from laughing
Lawd my 60 yr old husband still says the roses line to this day!!! Thanks for the memories 🙂
14 for me, same :)
OMG! 😂
Hulk coming out of the bathroom after taking a wicked green dump... unforgettable! 🤣🤣🤣
This was the crew!! John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, Dan Akroyd, Garret Morris, Chevy Chase, Loraine Newman, The Best!!
Lois Lane resembles Monica Geller!
Mike Gibbons right ? I thought so too
She is lovely Margot Kidder, wonderful actress from the Superman movie with Christopher Reeve.
Definitely
@@lafamilledegrace5442 Well...why do you think they did the sketch.
i actually looked it up to see if kidder was related to courteney cox.... not that i could find
The Thing costume is amazing lol
I personally like the 2005 film one better.
This is a real gem - ah the 70's - great memories. THE classic SNL lineup. I had crushes on more than one woman in this skit.
I love how SNL turned a classic improv "game" into an actual sketch. Classic.
The rapid ping pong sounds while the women are chatting. 🤣🤣🤣
Would have been great if they could have had a surprise appearance by Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent - imagine the roar if he walked in!.
Yeah he could’ve played Professor X
@@cathaldunne6741 Asswhipe
Smallville had a chance to do some really epic episodes with Christopher Reeves, and instead they just messed it up by only giving a few minutes of screen time and barely anything useful to the show.
Brings back old times 😁 great stuff...
@@pershop4950 He did have to puff that chair around with a stoma.
Belushi as the Hulk is the Marvel Universe everyone wants to see.
Farley Hulk was even better.
There will never be anything like this again. Picasso on film.
It's hard to believe that John Belushi will be dead 41 years next March. He is a comedy legend and will never be forgotten.
The Flash should've taken hints from Santa, wrapping Clark's presents in lead
I remember this from watching on early TH-cam. My biggest wish for the Ant Man movie was for a Grant Morrison cameo. I was so happy he was included.
I think you mean Garrett Morris. Grant Morrison as a comic book writer who's written a lot of Batman comics over the years, as well as Animal man and others.
You’re right! It’s been awhile and I was going off memory. Either way it was nice to see his cameo
LOL... you're channelling Emily Litella.
9:36 - The Thing (in the background) after The Hulk comes out of the John. lmao!
Top ten things I would like to do but never could would definitely include a Saturday Night Live after-party from this era.
Lois Lane wears the pants in that house
I secretly fawn spoke n Superman in the basement doing a mindmelt
F yeah 😎
This skit got Garrett Morris a role in MCU's Antman!
If this was the what if version of him he would have the last laugh.
I remembered when this first aired. Laughing my ass off still---many moons later. CLASSIC!
10:20 Bill headshots Dan,pricless...
"Come on, It's not supposed to smell like roses!"...
I remember watching this skit back when it first aired. It's still funny 40 years later.
wow...the flash gotta a bigger applause than superman....even back in the seventies.
@ANCIENT- Nah. It's because he goes like the clappers!
I was half expecting Superman to return with the ice when Clark was talking to Lois and The Flash to be nowhere in sight.
This proves that a practical Thing suit would work for the new movies.
This proves that it wouldn't work 😂
Grew up with superman films.Hadn't seen this before.Wow.Was lovely. Seeing Margot kidder. sad she is gone, christopher reeve too.John Belushi also. Reminded me of Stars that are no longer with us.... I Will always remember 'Lois Lane' as 'Margot kidder'. She was absolutely Wonderful. She was 'Super' in films. None could replace her... Rip to those now gone.
George Reeve also...
You are very sexy, Sniper Wolf. And I agree 💯 about Margot Kidder.
Everyone departs the world eventuality. Sadly 100 years from now these comments will be all that anyone remembers of us here.
"I just had some..." "Kryptonite!!! Oohhh let go, let go, let go"! This cast was brilliant. Everybody involved sell'n out this ridiculous premise, like "Get Smart" or "The Munsters". I only saw this the night it aired. I may have seen it twice, but it was so memorable. I thought it was hilarious. I had that same reaction when I first heard they were making an Ant Man movie. Thought it wouldn't work, but I digress... this was/is funny.
Margot kidder was hot
not really
@@jonhohensee3258 Yes, really...
@@godfreydaniel6278 - She was icky. The worst Lois of all time.
@@jonhohensee3258 - I don't remember this being about her performance as Lois - I thought the observation was about the actress being hot - which she was...
@@godfreydaniel6278 - I was never talking about performance. Why did you bring performance into it? I'm talking only about looks. And as looks go, Margot was the worst Lois ever.
the 70's was a great time for the arts, you have great bands making music, SNL making laughs, and movies making millions
Yeah cuz movies don't make money anymore
So great seeing Gilda Radner. Miss her Rosanna Rosanna-Danna character.
What a delight, thanks for uploading this! So many great memories of the "original cast" of SNL. This obviously was Year 2 or beyond, what with Bill Murray on in place of Chevy Chase.
It was from March 1979 (Season 4)
@@jayydee72 Yes, just three months after the theatrical release of the first Superman film with Christopher Reeve and guest host Margot Kidder
FYI the guy who played ant man here had a cameo in the Ant man movie!
what?
Garrett Morris. He was the cashier in Two Broke Girls.
Garrett is in his car. Antman lands on the roof & dents it, then grows to normal size & dents it some more. Good catch, Jay-ant.
That's hella cool ... Thanks !!
6:31 if the invisible girl is gonna go ahead and use the bathroom...then she should lock the door 😂😃😂😂
I always wondered if Belushi ad-libbed that line. I get the impression that when he first said "Sorry, I didn't see you sitting there on the pot" he expected the audience to know he was talking about the Invisible Girl...but the audience didn't catch on, so he had to spell it out.
I wonder if her #1 and #2 is invisible too? Hmmmm.
"oh geez what did someone die in there?"
Hulk- "hey hey it's not roses you know"
I didn't even recognize Margot Kidder until I heard her voice! At first glance I'd thought it looked like Courtney Cox but knew it couldn't have been b/c Bill Murray was so young. June Curtain is awesome in this one!
