    Christopher Reeve was one of the most humble man I have ever known. I had the great fortune of being his interpreter in 1985 when they were shooting Anna Karenina in Hungary and he played Vronsky. It was an utter joy working with him..

      Look up Jack O'Halloran's account of him on the set of Superman 2, he played Non. He had some less than flattering things to say about Christopher Reeve and thought he was egomaniac before the accident. He blamed it on Reeve being young and letting the fame get to his head during that time.

    • @blondecat666
      @blondecat666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +88

      @@metsrus Yeah, well, he is nearly the only one. Could be a little jealousy, given that O'Halloran was kinda beaten with the ugly stick. Anyway, O'Halloran's opinion or not, it was my own personal experience and it will never change.

      Be careful of the #13 or black cats and be sure to throw salt over your right shoulder, carry a rabbit's foot and a four leaf clover and a horse shoe for mega good luck. Superstition is a weird thing to follow. If you look into it, there were two numbers, 616 and 666, in historical accounts referring to Nero as an indirect jab at his successor the emperor Domitian. In Greek it comes to 666 and in Latin 616. The Greek version looks better and won the beauty contest, so to speak. Mark of the beast refers to the image of the emperor on the coinage. Now,, run that through the millenia and the extreme superstition of the Dark Ages and Medieval time period magnified by the inculcation of the Catholic and later Protestant churches who believed these tales (not sure about all the upper leaders but definitely lower levels and the masses) and used these superstitions to control. Later folks like yourself, have come to accept these superstitions as fact just as earlier people just knew that leprechauns were real. That elves and faeries (fairies today) were real. In and of itself, superstition is relatively harmless unless tied to political powers which too many 666 believers do. Believe what you wish. Please understand when those who know history refute you and your claims, it's because since the 4th century clear to now, those claimants have been ruthless and despicably vicious. You are not that, but feed the true beast of orthodoxy. Christian, Muslim no different history wise.

    • @danfromnorcal
      @danfromnorcal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +206

      I met him in 1993 at an airport near Watertown, VT. While I was waiting for a plane to pull me up (my sailplane), the tower said I should go over and help the guy in the white t-shirt and bluejeans get his wings on. The guy turned around, stuck out his hand, and said, Hi, I'm Chris. I sheepishly replied, yes, I know. My 15 or so minutes with him was just small talk - how long have you been flying sailplanes? Where did you grow up? One of the coolest days of my life and I was only 22 at the time.

      His NYC entrance from the building to rescue Lois in her helicopter was the best superhero entrance I've ever seen. He had presence, and studied political issues in depth. Alec Baldwin walked around the capital with him and everyone wanted to meet Reeve. Baldwin thought he was going to become a senator, but then he had that serious injury.
      One more thing. Reeve said Mel Gibson was smarter about his career than he was & explained why. Reeve tried to do things that were both highbrow that he hoped would be popular like "Deathtrap." But Gibson would do wildly popular movies, then had the clout to help make anything he wanted -- even a pretty big budget "Hamlet."

      @michaelzoran 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markv.5962 See, this is the stuff that makes me believe in the theory of the "multiverse" with an infinite number of parallel dimensions. I see that at "this" point in time, you are correct it shows Superman stood 6' 3" tall. However, this was something I had previously looked up in the past. I previously saw Superman was 6' 4" tall.
      This is not the first time this has happened. For example, Donald Trump originally showed up as 6' 2" tall. But now he shows up as 6'3" tall and claims to be 6' 3" tall.
      Jeb Bush also previously showed up as 6' 4" tall, but now he shows up as 6' 3" tall.
      There is one BIG problem, though. If you saw the debates from 2016, you could clearly see Jeb Bush was about two inches taller than Trump. So, the thought of 6' 2" for Trump and 6' 4" for Jeb Bush made sense. Anyone who saw those debates knows they are not both the same height. of 6' 3" tall.

    So my friend grew up in Manhattan. He was 6 yrs old when Superman with Christopher Reeve came out in the theaters. My friends mom took him to see Superman. There was a really intense bully who would always intimidate him and sometime hurt him. One day he was in a A&P getting some candy and he looked up and saw Christopher Reeve in a sweater and glasses looking just like Clark Kent. Chris smiling, winked at him, bought some stuff, and left. My friend was jaw dropped the whole time. Superman not only lived in his neighborhood, but had his back!
    The next week, that bully approached him to bully him. Knowing Superman would obviously come and save him, he cold cocked the bully, jumped on him, and beat him until the bully begged him to stop.
    The bully never messed with my friend or his friends again.
    I wish Christopher Reeve could have been told that story.

    Like all the other comments before me, anyone may play Superman, but Christopher Reeve will always be both on and off screen my favorite Superman hero. He was Superman. He did so much in trying to help people, even after his accident, tried to keep going in spite of all he suffered from the trauma of his accident. One of my favorite films, and including Superman, that I had seen him in, was Somewhere in Time, what an emotional experience and an impact that he brought to the screen, would also make an impact on me. It was a love story in time, a beautiful story. May God grant him eternal rest and peace….RIP Chris, may your life and memory always be an inspiration to others … you are missed. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😇🇺🇸

He asked my name, and I introduced myself and explained how I was a huge fan and how I donated to the Reeve-Irvine foundation. Had a major crush on him since I was a kid. I admired him so much.
