"Donence" in this song means the equinox. The song is about the two sides of the Earth which lives the day and the night at the same time, two phases of life like our life and after life, parallel universes in which we have two alternative existance and so on. The lyrics roughly means that I am lonely, sad and silent in the dark here but there is another world in which people are singing in joy and I know that it will be my turn to be happy someday. I hope now all his whispers and his shadow image makes sense. Also the song has two chapters as you mentioned. First chapter is the dark, silent universe and the other is the joyful one right behind(or after) the equinox.

Barış Manço is one of the pioneers of rock music in Turkey. He was well-known in many countries in the 1950s. He's like Elvis. Good luck with your reactions.
Peace is called, Barış Manço, we were a generation that grew up with his songs, he doesn't live anymore, but we have not forgotten his songs and the humanity of his beautiful programs that he gave us.😔🙏🥰

He was a true poet, and while I believe that music transcends languages, we can’t deny the power of his lyrics. I was 22 when he unexpectedly and suddenly passed away, leaving the whole country in deep mourning. He was and will forever remain a national treasure who was adored by everyone. ❤️

Thank you for your reaction! Baris Manco actually said that this song describes the „Equinox“: either of the two times each year (as about March 21 and September 23) when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are everywhere on earth of approximately equal length. This song was composed earlier but published in 1982. ☺️🪐
He is the king. Who took turkish people to the 7th dimention İ think ❤ ıf you listen to his other songs you Will feel that each comes from another planet... Live Soul
The parts sung in silence or in a whisper represent the night. The parts sung aloud (parts sung by Barış Manço) represent the day. In addition, the duration of the silent parts of the song is equal to the duration of the spoken parts. Just like night and day are equal.
axxxx. most of 'em passed away and all of them had unique styles of their own. just bassist are alive as know. or one more. RIP who passed away. thank you for your video.
i think that's the greatest song made by him. i mean in the only 70's. i used to wake up early in weekends just to watch his shows too. (he was't just a great musician, he spent half his life to entertain kids and do documentaries as a side job)
Again ..and again.. it will never and for me also for us like anybody as my age period. He was so interesting and awesome person . He still effecting our life with his passion and musical skill. some info about the band the "Kurtalan Express" names came from a train line from european side of Turkey to the east side or something like that.. Unfortunatly just this awesome bassist left Ahmet Güvenç . All the band members were beyond their time . He was the Dervish of the modern times..And now they will be live forever... Barış mean is the Peace that all we need nowadays.. Thank you for this honest reaction .

Dönence meant to be here is lifecycle of living things, like human life, like bugs , trees , everything lives...lyrics express birth and death in the same time all over the universe. this song is beyond the 80's , even today we are listening his songs, he was the greatest artist in Turkey, his music ,his acts, his ideas, he was our big brother Barış Abi... , may Allah rest him in peace.
Contrary to appearances, Barış Manço is a very mysterious and special artist with hidden messages in his songs, you will not find even a single person in the world who has met and disliked him ❤
It’s one of the most well-known psychedelic Turkish songs. Barış Manço was a very important artist who combined and blended very well Turkish etnic sound with western rock-progressive-psychedelic sounds.. He was an “avant-garde” artist of Turkish rock music. He also has songs in French and English.
Adama yaranmak için Barış Mançoyu aşağılamak. Şarkıda hiç bir saykoluk yok. Saykoluk arabeskte, hiphopta var. Barış Manço şarkıları felsefi derinlik içerir. Sayko, avangard değildir. 😡
Here is the translation of the lyrics, I made for another reaction video. In that video, song title was translated as tropic, hence the explanation is about that. THE SOLSTICE ("Dönence" is used here most likely as winter solstice rather than "tropic", since it is the longest night, and days start to get longer after that.) Day has turned around here long time ago. And I am waiting all alone at the bosom of a pitch-black night. I hear... I see... Someday, the solstice will come... I know. I'm at the bosom of the pitch-black night, all alone. Suns are rising somewhere far away. I know... The solstice. I'm the branch of a bone-dry tree, all alone. Some things are rooting somewhere far away. * also referring that some ideas are seeping to I see... The solstice. Neither a sound nor a breath on my chapped (cracked) lips. Folk songs are sung somewhere far away. I hear... I see... I know... The solstice. The solstice... The solstice... At the turn of the day, the solstice. I'm at the bosom of the pitch-black night, all alone. Suns are rising somewhere far away. The solstice. I'm the branch of a bone-dry tree, all alone. Some things are rooting (seeping to) somewhere far away. The solstice. Neither a sound nor a breath on my chapped (cracked) lips. Folk songs are sung somewhere far away. The solstice... At the turn of the day, the solstice. The solstice... At the turn of the day, the solstice. The solstice.

Dönence actually means tropic and Baris himself explains the song: “The tropics are the latitudes at the two poles of the earth and they can never be together. There are two opposite poles in human nature. It is the instinct to seek what he does not have.” Lyrics: Gün çoktan döndü buralarda The day has already turned here Ve ben simsiyah bir gecenin koynunda yapayalnız bekliyorum And I'm waiting alone in the middle of a black night Duyuyorum, görüyorum, bir gün gelecek dönence biliyorum I hear, I see, I know one day tropic will come Simsiyah gecenin koynundayım yapayalnız I'm in the middle of the pitch black night all alone Uzaklarda bir yerlerde güneşler doğuyor Somewhere far away the sun is rising Biliyorum I know Dönence Tropic Kupkuru bir ağacın dalıyım yapayalnız I'm a branch of a dry tree all alone Uzaklarda bir yerlerde bir şeyler kök salıyor Something is taking root somewhere far away Görüyorum I see Dönence Tropic Çatlamış dudağımda ne bir ses ne bir nefes Neither a sound nor a breath on my chapped lip Uzaklarda bir yerlerde türküler söyleniyor Somewhere far away folk songs are being sung Duyuyorum I hear Görüyorum I see Biliyorum I know Dönence Tropic Dönence Tropic Gün dönende dönence when the day turns Dönence Tropic Simsiyah gecenin koynundayım yapayalnız I'm in the middle of the pitch black night all alone Uzaklarda bir yerlerde güneşler doğuyor Somewhere far away the sun is rising Dönence Tropic Kupkuru bir ağacın dalıyım yapayalnız I'm a branch of a dry tree all alone Uzaklarda bir yerlerde bir şeyler kök salıyor Something is taking root somewhere far away Dönence Tropic Çatlamış dudağımda ne bir ses ne bir nefes Neither a sound nor a breath on my chapped lip Uzaklarda bir yerlerde türküler söyleniyor Somewhere far away folk songs are being sung Dönence Tropic Gün dönende dönence when the day turns Dönence Tropic Gün dönende dönence when the day turns Dönence Tropic

Johnny good choice man :) the name of that band is Kurtalan Ekspres (they take their name from a train expedition) (Ankara to Kurtalan) Lyrics, "The Tropic" Already the day was on the wane everywhere here And I'm waiting all alone in the arms of a pure black night I'm hearing it I'm seeing it One day the tropic will come I know that

The group playing with him is "Kurtalan Ekspres". It was the late years of Anatolian Pop era which started in early 60s, and lost a lot of blood in 1980, after the coup d'état. In that era especially in 70s-, there were lots of groups like Moğollar, Kurtalan Eksper, Apaşlar, Dadaşlar, Kaygısızlar etc. Those groups were open to different singers and musicians, and there were always member exchanges between them for albums, concerts etc. For example Moğollar had different records with singers like Barış Manço, Cem Karaca, Selda Bağcan, but those singers had records with different groups also. They were all following a Turkish folk music tradition which musicians visit different cities, work with different musicians, and performance with them to improve their musical knowledge, keep seeking for their own sounds, styles etc. In Anatolian Pop era, those groups and singers had articulated to this tradition, and brought lots of Turkish folk songs into the studios by recording them with the new-tech instruments, and then they started to work on their own compositions, their own lyrics when they explored and improved their own sounds. Kurtalan Ekspres is the only group Barış Manço worked that long. Most of the promising groups of that era were exiled from the market after the coup d'état, because the policies in the music market such as censorship mechanisms and sanctions made only a few of them to survive. Kurtalan Ekspres was one of them, and their chemistry were extraordinary since both the band and Manço liked using new instruments, technologies, working on new experimental things etc. Manço had some kind of talent which made him widely open to articulate himself to new trends, cultural changes, musical technologies, etc. If there was something new, Manço was always there to try, and create something putting himself in it. He always described himself as a follower of Turkish folk music tradition; never stop mobilizing: Wherever you go, whatever you see, find a creative way to adopt it and improve your music. This song was recorded in Germany I think, because it is from the album "Sözüm Meclisten Dışarı" -which can be roughly translated to "My Word is Out of the Table" and he recorded it abroad. I analyzed the song "Sözüm Meclisten Dışarı" for a paper in my PhD studies. During that song, Manço does not sing; lits a cigarette in the beginning and starts to talk like a man in a middle age crysis, but we all feel the depression from our souls to the bones. He complains about his problems by knowing that there is no solution or hope for anything to change in his life; he says: "I feel myself like a cucumber". Dönence is some kind of an antidote for it. However, those were such dark years that even the hope gives you goosbumps looking back then now. He actually had some promising songs after an another coup d'état in 1970. One of them is "Katip Arzuhalim Yaz Yare Böyle" he made with Moğollar in 1971. It is a Turkish folk song, but Manço starts to talk in the late part of the song. He talks about the "good old days", and tells that "recent dark days" should be left behind by holding each other's hands to go for better days. In Dönence, he revisits this theme, but this time he cannot give such hope as before, he only tells that he is waiting for the turning point for the dark days to shine. Also there was an another strong song in the album: Hal Hal. It can be seen as a top-level Anatolian Pop song. That man was a pure legend from his early years to death, it is nice to hear such comments from you 👍👍👍
He was an extraordinary person with an amazing character who left some significant hidden messages in his songs which looks like a bunch of unrelated words combination. I wouldn't consider him like a regular artist who had just great talent. !!!

Barış Manço is one of the pioneers of rock music in Turkey. He was well-known in many countries in the 1950s. He's like Elvis. Good luck with your reactions.
Definitely
Peace is called, Barış Manço, we were a generation that grew up with his songs, he doesn't live anymore, but we have not forgotten his songs and the humanity of his beautiful programs that he gave us.😔🙏🥰
Barış Manço was fenomenal in packing the deepest feelings into the most insane sounds and beats. You dance to the music but if you knew how deep the lyrics are. Mindblowing

Barış Manco is a very important artist for Turks. All Turks love him very much.
I was there in his funeral in Taksim Square, 1999.
15 years of age, crying my eyes off.
Baris Abi is the best.
Baris Manço Turkiye 🇹🇷👍
Kültürel miras, BARIŞ MANÇO 💚💚💚
Ah barış Manço my childhood... When he died i was kid and i cried son hard OMG i never forvet hım. He is the gem of the turkish music.
You are so symphatic thanks for the nice reaction. Baris manco is a legend for Turkish people❤️❤️❤️
He was a true poet, and while I believe that music transcends languages, we can’t deny the power of his lyrics.
I was 22 when he unexpectedly and suddenly passed away, leaving the whole country in deep mourning. He was and will forever remain a national treasure who was adored by everyone. ❤️
He is the King wolf of Turkish music💪
This team is Turkiye's greatest musicians.. Bass guitarist Ahmet Güvenç. Electric guitarist Bahadır Akkuzu. These are the legends of Turkey. For years, they made music with such legends as Barış Manço, Cem Karaca and Erkin Koray.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thank you for your reaction! Baris Manco actually said that this song describes the „Equinox“: either of the two times each year (as about March 21 and September 23) when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are everywhere on earth of approximately equal length. This song was composed earlier but published in 1982. ☺️🪐
it was pure joy to watch dear Barış Manço and your comment on his artistic performance.
That was the best reaction video that I ever watched for our dear Baris Mancho :) Thanks for the sahre
He is the king. Who took turkish people to the 7th dimention İ think ❤ ıf you listen to his other songs you Will feel that each comes from another planet... Live Soul
his funeral already shows what an artist and person he was. tens of thousands were there and sang his songs. God bless him. will never forget you
The parts sung in silence or in a whisper represent the night. The parts sung aloud (parts sung by Barış Manço) represent the day. In addition, the duration of the silent parts of the song is equal to the duration of the spoken parts. Just like night and day are equal.
Baris manco öldüğünde günlerce ağladım, eşsiz bir değerdi, Allah rahmet eylesin
Ne kadar kaliteli müzik olsun video olsun gunumuzdekiler eline su dokemez baris abimizin nur icinde uyu insaAllah
Amin
axxxx. most of 'em passed away and all of them had unique styles of their own. just bassist are alive as know. or one more. RIP who passed away. thank you for your video.

Baris Manco is a Legend for the Turkish nation ...loved his music may he rest in peace. C*
Allah rahmet eylesin.Çoğu şarkılarında geleceğe ait bir mesaj vardır.Yeri boş kaldı doldurulamadı
RIP BARIS Bro. He is GREAT !!! He is LEGEND !!!
i think that's the greatest song made by him. i mean in the only 70's. i used to wake up early in weekends just to watch his shows too.
Ah Ulu Kurt 🥲 umarım güzel yerlerden bizleri izliyorsundur. Nurlar içinde ol ❣️
Ayrıca italyanca şarkısıda mevcut
Adama yaranmak için Barış Mançoyu aşağılamak. Şarkıda hiç bir saykoluk yok. Saykoluk arabeskte, hiphopta var. Barış Manço şarkıları felsefi derinlik içerir. Sayko, avangard değildir. 😡
Here is the translation of the lyrics, I made for another reaction video. In that video, song title was translated as tropic, hence the explanation is about that.
THE SOLSTICE
("Dönence" is used here most likely as winter solstice rather than "tropic", since it is the longest night, and days start to get longer after that.)
Day has turned around here long time ago.
* also referring that some ideas are seeping to
I see...
Their name is Kurtalan Ekpress. Barış is the most respected person in this country.❤

Dönence actually means tropic and Baris himself explains the song: “The tropics are the latitudes at the two poles of the earth and they can never be together. There are two opposite poles in human nature. It is the instinct to seek what he does not have.”
Lyrics:
Gün çoktan döndü buralarda
The day has already turned here
And I'm waiting alone in the middle of a black night
Duyuyorum, görüyorum, bir gün gelecek dönence biliyorum
I hear, I see, I know one day tropic will come
Simsiyah gecenin koynundayım yapayalnız
I'm in the middle of the pitch black night all alone
Uzaklarda bir yerlerde güneşler doğuyor
Somewhere far away the sun is rising
Biliyorum
I know
Dönence
Tropic
Kupkuru bir ağacın dalıyım yapayalnız
I'm a branch of a dry tree all alone
Uzaklarda bir yerlerde bir şeyler kök salıyor
Something is taking root somewhere far away
Görüyorum
I see
Dönence
Tropic
Neither a sound nor a breath on my chapped lip
Uzaklarda bir yerlerde türküler söyleniyor
Somewhere far away folk songs are being sung
Duyuyorum
I hear
Görüyorum
I see
Biliyorum
I know
Dönence

Gün dönende dönence
when the day turns

Hello from Turkey. Thank you so much for sharing. I would also love for you to read the Turkish meaning of the song. We were so sad when he died. There are no more songs of his quality.
The art has own language itself. This is the prove. I am so proud of him, he had a unique personality with every his details.
We will never forget him ...
Donenceye girdik 2023 dönencenin başlangıcı 🇹🇷🐺
Legenden sterben nie
Thank you.. from Aydın city.. Türkiye 🇹🇷👏👏👏👏👏
You should watch TK's commercial. It is based on the journey of the first TK pilot to the future. The happiness and surprise of our first pilot when he saw a female pilot is worth seeing.
İ love you reaction man, Baris was my favorite artist when i child and later, and still like his music
As a Turk, we had goosebumps at the same time.👍
Dönence means seasonal changes depending on the world's position around the sun. He means metaphorically bad days will go way and good days will come.
Johnny good choice man :) the name of that band is Kurtalan Ekspres (they take their name from a train expedition) (Ankara to Kurtalan)
Lyrics,
"The Tropic"
Already the day was on the wane everywhere here
And I'm waiting all alone in the arms of a pure black night
I'm hearing it
I'm seeing it
One day the tropic will come
I know that
I'm all alone in the arms of the pure black night
Some suns are rising somewhere far away
I'm seeing it
The tropic
I'm the branch of a bone-dry tree all alone
Some things are taking roots somewhere far away
I know that
The tropic
There's neither a single sound nor a single breath on my chapped lips
Ballads are being sung somewhere far away
I'm hearing it
The tropic
Kimse aksini iddia edemez😊
One of the best musician in the world Baris Manço
With the deep meaning in his songs, He was a gift to us elsewhere in Turks.I love you Barış Abi❤
Tüylerim diken diken oldu
Pure masterpiece! Hail Baris Manco❤
That man was a pure legend from his early years to death, it is nice to hear such comments from you 👍👍👍
Barış Manço demek hoşgörü sadakat samimiyet insanlık kısaca 🇹🇷 demektir... O bizim yüreğimizde yaşamaya devam ediyor! 😢
He was an extraordinary person with an amazing character who left some significant hidden messages in his songs which looks like a bunch of unrelated words combination. I wouldn't consider him like a regular artist who had just great talent. !!!
this song includes many secrets about future ;)
He is 'Citizen of the world' because of his song ''Hemşerim memleket nire?''. That song is exceptional too with lyrics especially.
Barış Manço is the legend of Turkey. Everyone from seven to seventy knows him. ♥️♥️♥️💐 Greetings from Turkey. 🖐️
Barış Manço is one of the best artists in the Turkiye.. If He was making music in America & Europa he would be chosen as the best artist in the world because He is a really great musician.. Kurtalan Ekspres is the name of the band.. His music style is Progressive Rock & Turkish Psychedelic Rock.. They are a group the Pink Floyd.. same music style.. I can't write any more so sorry my english isn't good..
A Man who lives for Peace i love hin legend
Thanks for these beautiful reaction. I stil remember my crying at the day his funeral. We loved him so much. His band is Kurtalan Ekspres who played with him a very long time.
