This song also belongs to Sezen Aksu. Actually it is a very emotional song because when she says 'burn me, burn yourself, burn everything' she means to say let's do this, burn(ignore) everyone for a relationship that should not be lived. It is also the song that made 'duman' known all over the country, so their debut was with a cover song. It is unforgettable because it is the first time such a cult emotional pop song has been covered and published in rock style in Turkey.
This song brought a bit more attention to them but this certainly not their debut. It's actually in their second studio album and their first album already has mega hits like Koprualti, Bebek, Hatun, Senin Gibi, Istanbul, Hayati Yasa. Actually their first album is just full of great songs, there is not any one bad song there.
Duman takes me back to my high school years. Each song evokes so many emotions, I can't even finish listening some of their songs. Grown up with listening these hard songs is lit. 'Yürekten' is my absolute favorite. I attended one of their concerts once, they are truly a great band.
Just found your reaction to this wonderful song - thank you!!! ❤I love Duman's rock version but I also love Sezen Aksu singing it. With her special voice it sounds AWESOME, so don't miss it! 😊 I just came back from Turkey and I'll go there again in August - yaaaayyyy!!! Such a beautiful country!!! Burn me, burn yourself, burn everything - oh yessss! Turkey is such a cheerful country, but it has got sort of a "dark side" as well, full of melancholy and sadness. I think these two sides make their music so special. ❤Looking forward to your next reaction and love from Germany to everybody ❤
The word “yak” isn’t always used as physically burning. We use the same word for when things go wrong or when we lose in a game. In this song however, Sezen Aksu used the words like burning, fire and death to show the power of the love. No matter what happens, we burn, we die, you kiss me or you burn me, I’m ready for that love and all it takes is a spark and I’m ready for it. She says “It’s called love if when you’re willing to die for it”. In other part mentions about walking through the fire. All those for love. Because if you are not willing to pay those prices for it, how big really that love is?
Most underrated and beautiful duman songs: yanıbaşımdan (duman’s best solo) , seviyorsan inanıyorsan , gönül ister , melankoli ,gönül , dibine kadar , yürek , helal olsun , tövbe (solo awesome) , seni kendime sakladım , en güzel günüm gecem , yürekten , aman aman , bu akşam , kırmış kalbini (long versiyon) , köprüaltı
This is originally a pop song which is why it's rather simple. Bu I personally love this version better. Thank you for your interest and beautiful comments about Turkish music.
There are so many great Duman songs that I feel like don't get the recognition they deserve. Some of my favorites are "En güzel günüm gecem" "Elleri ellerime" and "Aman aman". You should definitely check these out if you want to experience Duman. Keep up the great vids bro❤
i'm impressed by the accuracy of your observations. yes, the song is not that complex, the lyrics are not amazing, but Duman managed to do a great job in well arrangement and passing all the emotions to the audience deeply.
its actually grunge influenced band, you made a good point about that. I like the way you observing, youre not just like "omg very good song wow" like the other reaction channels. keep it up bro👍
You pointed out something very true by saying what is important in duman’s song is not their complexity but the emotions they make you feel. I think its valid to eighty percent of turkish songs. And probably thats why sometimes foreigners cant understand why some of the most popular songs in a country are loved so much.
The burning in this context can be compared to the saying, "Burning bridges." It is not literal. It is more about ending things. Think for example more within the context of Romeo & Julia. Two people who love each other, but can't be together.
Hi Joni, I am a fan of your channel, yes you are very handsome :) but that is not the reason for my interest in you. I am a fan because you understand us deeply. Turkish music especially focused on the lyrics, and theme... we are a melancholic society, because of our history, and our political conditions... we are always near to crying and almost all of our songs have emotional lyrics. And you understand this. In reality, I am a fan of Mor ve Otesi, and when you realize their style which has energetic music but depressed lyrics... I think you got us. Thank you...
Şebnem Ferah is indeed the Queen of Turkish Rock, but we can call Sezen Aksu as the Empress.. She is the writer of most of the best songs out there.. ones with the most feeling, ones that topped every chart for the last 30 years or so.
Duman ın These are the songs you can listen to 1-bal (Honey) 2-Haberin yok ölüyorum (You don't know I'm dying) 3-Ah 4-Let it be halal (Helal olsun) 5-Under the bridge(Köprü altı and Let me give you some information that the lover who committed suicide is also playing ahu He has already written almost all his songs to Ahu at the Bostancı concert and at the end AHU come back Says) 5-Live life
@@PowerfulReactions actually the turkish lyrics were written by sezen aksu but the music was composed by thanou mikroutsikou, a greek musician and performed by haris alexiou, a greek legend who is also a close friend of sezen aksu. it's one of the many songs in both turkish and greek languages. but yes, sezen aksu was the first one singing it in turkish, a pop version of it, years before duman, this is a cover song. but a very good cover in my opinion.
This song has some other versions, correct me if i’m wrong but the original song is in greek sang by one snd only Haris Alexiou (i also recommend you to listen the greek version of this song) Other than that Sezen Aksu also sang this in turkish which was more closer to the greek version and more emotional. The greek version is called “mia pista apo fosforo”😊

Just a short fact about Kaan. His Girlfriend committed suicide at the same time he published the song "Bal" which he wrote for her. He never sing the song again. 🥺
In fact, when listening to this song in Turkish, it contains intense lust along with love and emotional pain. As an observation, we Turks look for this a lot in our relationships. So for us, especially generation x and y, love + pain + lust = passionate true love. This is how the social subconscious is shaped. So sexy but hard ❤🔥
Kaan ın kendine has vokal tarzı bir cok kişiye örnek olmuştur. Şarkılarını başkaları söyleyince garipsiyorsun.

Thanks for your interpretation of the Duman group, you should also take a look at the songs that Kaan Tangöze sings alone.
They feel it because its the song of their childhood. Not easy not to feel it by anyone in Turkey, who lived trough 80s and 90s
