Hello, just wanted to update everyone that I got my esim (iphone 14 pro max) activated overseas in Guam with a VPN using my wifi. -delete the Google Fi app -go to General in settings and reset network settings and delete esim as well if you've made a previous setup attempt -Activate a VPN (I used VPN -Super Unlimited Proxy and connected to Los Angeles) -I then downloaded Google Fi and started the activation through the app -went to cellular settings and manually entered all the network info -went back to Google Fi app to complete the process -restarted the phone as prompted in the app -as soon as the phone turned back on I connected to the VPN again and thirty seconds later my network connection popped up and everything worked as it should! If I was unclear about something please let me know and I'll try and explain a little better. I had been trying to activate my phone for two days and getting the run around from support even though I have the overseas military exception, hope this helps!
Thanks for the info!! I was looking towards Google fi for my required study abroad year in Japan, but it seems like I should keep looking around. I hope you both are doing well :)
You should be okay to use Fi, especially if you’re a student, SO LONG AS you let them know…hey, so, I am a student and sometimes the travel schedule isn’t as set as I might like it to be - can I have someone notate my account that I am an international student and so come back to the USA every few months, I just am not sure WHEN that might happen… SOMETIMES they’ll be able to restore your service but there’s a waiver for you to submit, but it’s…a “maybe” situation. Usually international travel bloggers and vloggers have had luck, so, might try that!
Oh no! This is disappointing to hear! Is this a new policy? I loved using Google Fi back in 2018 (living abroad) and didn't receive this notice.. Eventually switched because they wouldn't mail a new SIM card abroad after my phone was pickpocketed... I assume it was only a matter of time before they would have shut me off too.. I wish they just charged an additional flat fee if you are outside the US long term instead of shutting you off completely because it really is by far the most convenient option for international travel, business, etc.
It's a great service! Still using it back here in the US. Just good to know we need to pop back to the US every 6 months when traveling internationally 😊
Just got this notice today! I'm an expat and live abroad. Interestingly my account has been active since about 2017, took them a long time for them to say something. I had no idea. Now I'm looking at my alternatives. Appreciate your video. Do you need to inform Solis on WHICH specific country you'll be using it in or can you walk around with a Solis and maintain data or is it pretty picky about where you use it? Thanks!
I am sorry to read about your experience. I arrived back in Panama 3 of Jan and was there until the 19 of june and had no interruption with google fi. I was out if the US a full 6 months w no problems.
Google Fi worked for about 5 months outside of the US perfectly for us but isn't meant as a long-term solution for international service. However, we still have Google Fi back in the US again and love it! The Skyroam was a great product when we lost our phone service, definitely recommend. Good luck! 😊
Hello!! I currently live in an RV and I’m looking for a hotspot option and I was wondering which you’d suggest for just kind of full time living stationary in FL? I’ve had a really hard time getting ahold of anyone during this time to ask questions and I don’t want to dish out too much and it not work out. Thanks so much!! Video is great!
I would give skyroam a try. You can rent one to test it in your area first. And maybe if you use a lot of data try an unlimited plan instead of by the gig. Best of luck!
Guys, awesome video, I’m about to start a 2 - 3 year assignment abroad (Guatemala) and I really want to keep my US number alive and active specifically for 2-fac verification and bank account activities. I’m not concerned with not having data as I will get a local SIM card with data during my assignment. Do you think that google fi will keep my sim/voice/ SMS active for 3 consecutive years abroad ? (Obviously I will pay the monthly fee) ... have you heard of any such case? Thanks guys
Hi Jorge! That's so exciting and good luck with your move abroad and new job. 😊 Our situation was a bit different so we're not entirely sure how Google Fi would navigate that one. If it helps, we kept our US numbers active even when our international data was cut and we're still happy Google Fi users now that we're back in the US again (with our same #'s). We're definitely not experts so we'd recommend reaching out to Google directly. Best of luck! 😊
We didn't read the fine print and our data got turned off. Skyroam was the perfect solution! Have you ever used Skyroam before?
Wow in a world of entitled people who blame everyone else, you guys are amazingly calm

Haha thanks 😊
Honestly y'all have lovely vibes.

Oh wow, that's great, it sounds like you got lucky! Hope you enjoyed your travels 😊
You ran into trouble with not reading fine print.
This is very helpful! Thank you both! Any recommendations for which types of phones to use for international travel?
What is the limit of time you can use FI abroad without interruption? Thank you!
Thanks for the vídeo guys! I was going to travel to us just to get a google fi, now seeing that this might happen I’m gonna buy the Skyroam

So what is the max? 4 months when traveling internationally?
I got mine deactivated with only two months abroad :(

Google voice is a good choice too Jorge
Can you both make a video about relationship success and cohesiveness.
Which is better if you travel a lot
9$ is too much for a GB.
Not bad if we only used a couple gigs! Thanks for watching 😊
The audio is not understood, it is very low or you speak very low
Unless you use it in the US huh??? How about using a vpn!!!!!!! ??
All good in the US :)
Yeah but would using a VPN solve the issue?
@@sun.sh.in.e I was using a VPN for most of the time, and was cut off anyway.
Why did Google-Fi turn you off?
Too much consecutive time outside the US.
@@twotravelingkings If you had’ve used a VPN would that have solved the issue?
@@sun.sh.in.e no
This is similar to fascist based methods!
