    A Few Preliminary Points
    First, he wants to address that he's a watch slut. He loves the beauty of watches, everything from a cheap-ass Timex Weekender (everyone can get one of these). Next, watches are the most amazing accessory out there. Alpha loves the cool ass watches that aren't Rolex! He promotes watches that he loves that aren't Rolex. He loves the aesthetics! Last, Alpha is not an expert but the loves the combinations of metals, faces, straps, and so forth. The Timex keeps better time than his Rolex. It doesn't stop, need to be wound, and has other benefits. That being said, he does love Rolex.
    General Info About the Watches
    He has three expensive watches, and they vary in price. He started with a cheaper watch and then made more expensive purchases by selling cheaper versions. He wears these watches HARD. They are scratched up from one end to the other. He works out and runs in them. He doesn't plan on selling them -- they're his, he loves them, and he wears them as much as possible.
    Do Not Fakes
    Buying online watches, buy from a reputable dealer. Fakes today, they look almost like a one to one copy. Do not ever buy a fake luxury watch? Why would you when so many outstanding affordable watches are available? Save up for that luxury watch.
    Alpha's Rolex Watches
    Milgauss - he fell in love with it when he saw it on a GQ cover. He loves the orange hand and grayish face. It's beautiful to him although a lot of people are 'weird' about this watch. He got it when he went on Shark Tank the 2nd time - it was a statement that he was proud of.
    GMT-Master II - It's more sporty and rugged. It looks like a Submariner, but he likes it better because of the luxurious and blingy look. He also said that the numbers around the entire bezel. He likes the balance. It's comfortable and heavy where you can feel it on your wrist.
    Yacht-Master - This is Alpha's baby. It's rose gold with matte black bezel and face. It has a rubber bracelet and rose gold clasp in the back. To Alpha, this is his 'grail watch'. This is it -- the pinnacle of perfect for him. He has no intention of buying another super high end watch.
    Stuff Is Just Stuff
    Stuff has never been a motivator for Alpha. Success and feeling of accomplishments are what drive him. At the end of the day, watches are just stuff. Life is about being happy and feeling good about yourself. Helping others, relationships, and making something of yourself are what matter. Watches are 'stuff' and it's cool. In social media, people have fancy cars and stuff, but Alpha has never felt comfortable talking about his Rolex watches. He doesn't want to send out the wrong message - that you should strive for material possessions. The fact is that Alpha has busted his ass, and at the end of the day, he rewarded himself for his hard work. These three watches are representations of him not giving up and working hard.

    He said mvmt watches are better than rolex lmao

    • @idkbobta9856
      @idkbobta9856 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's because they are. When it comes to a quarts vs mechanical watch a quarts watch will always keep better time and only lose a few seconds a year. Plus it'll only need a battery change once every two or so years. With a mechanical watch it'll lose seconds every few days and need to be winded and serviced multiple times.

    • @idkbobta9856
      @idkbobta9856 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @joel statosky your comment was factually incorrect in the first five words. He stated in the video and you said in your comment they're better, making it a contradiction. A Rolex aside from self or automatic winding still needs to be serviced and will still lose time. I'm well aware of the craftsmanship that goes into making both watches. One is made in China and cost $10 to make but keeps better time than a Swiss made watch that costs thousands. I was stating that when it comes to the main thing they're meant for (telling time) any quarts watch is better even it's a $6 watch from Walmart. I've gone through mechanical watches as well as automatics and they'll lose time each year or sometimes month and will need to be serviced every year or two. And that's for each watch. As apposed to a $5 fix on a quarts watch regardless of brand. I can take a Timex or Versace to any jeweler to get a battery in five minutes but a Rolex would be around 2-3 months to get fixed or serviced.

    • @idkbobta9856
      @idkbobta9856 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @joel statosky also there's a difference between washing a car and changing an engine. The same goes for watches. 99% of people that own a high quality watch can polish and maintain upkeep on a watch but when it comes to servicing it, cleaning it or changing parts while sourcing them the average "watch guy" would just break it.

    • @idkbobta9856
      @idkbobta9856 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @joel statosky I just look at things through a logical view. When someone says " it's better because it keeps time better" I'll agree. However I will say that a Rolex (even though it's on a lower tier of luxury watch) is mechanically superior. Though worse at keeping time. I could let a Rolex sit for a month or two and have to spend $500-$5,000 getting it cleaned and fixed or I could get a quarts watch under my bed or buried in sand for a month, go swimming in it and it'll still be fine.

    As a Watch Afficionado I appreciate the craftsmanship and design in Mechanical Movements. You can get some beautiful Mechanical (automatic) watches from Seiko, Orient, Tissot, Hamilton & Certina from $150 -$700 that will last a Lifetime. Even Swatch, in their Sistem51 Line, now makes some nice mechanical movements. Yes, you have to manually wind them if you don't wear them often but so what. Takes you less than a minute to set and wind them. Don't waste your money on MVT or other disposable "Fashion Brand" Watches that put a Chinese-Made $5.00 Quartz movement in their watches that will stop working the minute the warranty runs out in a year or two.

    Man you said it perfectly! When you talk about your grail watch and "stopped looking", I feel EXACTLY the same way! I own a few pieces that I love for different reasons. A vintage looking watch my wife gave me on our anniversary, a vintage Datejust that means a lot to me for different reasons, and last week I bought a Tudor 58 and now the "urge" to find the perfect watch is gone.... I planned on purchasing another "big one" on my 40th birthday but honestly after this last piece, my "grail", I'm afraid I'm "done"... I REALLY enjoyed this video! Thank you for sharing!

    Bought my first luxury watch in 2017 when I was just 16 after completing secondary school. Lusted after an old Rolex submariner two tone With blue aluminium bezel. Worked during the summer and just about saved enough to make the purchase. Not the best way of spending money at that age but it definitely reminds me of achieving a few major accomplishments in the 12 months prior to that and hopefully the first of many personal representations of success to come 🙏🏽

      Agreed. I was going to buy a Datejust (36mm) at first, but it was too small. The GMT was out, because as someone who has never left his own time zone, that'd be a bit hard to justify. The Submariner? That was tempting. The young man's Datejust, and a Rolex classic. Except...everyone has one. Literally every salesperson in the store had one on, minus the watchmaker who wore a Tudor Black Bay, which was essentially an incarnation of the same watch. Also, in recent years the Submariner has been roided out and I don't like the looks of its boxy lugs. So I went with the Z-Blue Milgauss. It rocks.

    You shouldn’t be worried about wearing your watches when doing anything. All of your watches are classified as tool watches, which are designed to perform certain jobs. The Milgauss was developed for Swiss railway engineers who worked in highly magnetized places (magnetism makes watches less accurate) so it has an antimagnetic inner case to stop that from happening. The GMT Master was developed in the 1960s for Pan-Am airline pilots, and the reason for the second time zone and the 24 hour bezel is so the pilots could track up to three time zones at a time. Finally, the yacht master was built for competitive boat racing, and the reason for the submariner-esque bezel is that regattas in yachting are timed on 5 minute increments, and the ceramic bezel is almost completely scratch resistant.

    I agree on most points regarding watches. I own a few watches ranging between 10 bucks to 9000 bucks (which is a quite rediculous pricepoint, I know).
    The most expensive one is the one I cherish the most, because its a symbol for perfect estetics and a personal accomplishment. Anyway, worth worth mentioning is that for example that Rolex keep their value very well, they can even be regarded as a very smart investment if you buy smart!
    But yeah, its just stuff. My most expensive piece will be passed on when i’m dead. A nice watch is one of the most personal gifts you can give to someone you love, in terms of things.
    Good video!

      I love Rolex, not a fan of Patek for example. Not trying to brag but please, don’t underestimate other peoples knowledge!

      yeah stainless steel sports Rolex are investment grade. Daytona, Black/Blue GMT Master II or Green Submariner. They are rare as fuck and if you're able to get your hands on one you could actually flip them for profit or keep them and just sell them later.
      If you get the right watch, you actually don't "spend" money on it. It's like a part of an investment portfolio.

    Great honest video. I like the fact that you wear all your watches and they are a little scratched up. It just goes to show that you enjoy what you have. I know many people who have expensive watches and just keep them locked up in a room. I buy nice things for myself all the time, not at the price point of a Rolex, but expensive enough for me to get something nice. I've always felt that if you don't wear and enjoy what you have earned for yourself, then what's the point.

I own a Submariner I wear it ever day..it's a freaking tool watch, it was made to be worn. Heck if it's scratched up abit....I use it for what it's meant to be used for..everyday wear. I have a Cartier Must with the leather strao it's my dress watch I dont wear it all the time. People need to get off the idea of Rolex subs being dress watches. It's a tool , it was made as a tool watch wear it as a tool.

    In my opinion I think that to like a watch it doesn’t need to be expensive it just needs to be what ever you like

      True, price isn't everything. But that price also gives you something you can see and feel. Feel both in your hands and in your mind. If you don't understand that, keep it that way! It will save you a lot of money.

    I appreciate your advice. I admit I am new to men's current styles. I've always been a hard working regular guy, after high school I quit paying attention. finances... I went through a divorce 10 years ago that watched me completely out and I've been paycheck to paycheck ever since.. but like everybody else I want to learn to do better and be smarter and enjoy more. some of the stuff I see on your channel the nicer clothes, the shoes, the watches, getting in better shape so I feel better in these better clothes, dating advice... You and your channel has been a very good education for me and I appreciate it.
