    However, recently, there have been rumors that the legendary tech god has his eyes set on another industry that he seeks to change, and if he does, it will affect every single one of our lives.
    That's right, rumors have not only been circulating around but have started coming from major sources that Tesla is out to create a phone unlike any other, one by the name of the Pi Phone, that will work on Mars, have 5G level internet in the Sahara and will be able to change its color.
    But does Tesla really have a shot at making this phone, and how does it compare to the world's current leader in technology, the Apple iPhone which you might be using to watch this video right now? The answers to those and more are in this video so buckle up if you want to learn more.

Even something as simple as the flexibility of touchscreen and swiping. I am not just talking about Apple, I am talking about all these other phone giants too. Hardware is the easy part, but to be able to fit so much software into such a small device is really a work of art. Also, you should keep in mind that software engineers' hourly salaries are crazy high based on the level of work they do which is all hidden behind the screen and we never get to actually see a physical product.

    My iPhone 4S could no longer receive software updates, although it was not damaged.
    I wanted to have my iPhone 7 Plus repaired or the battery replaced, but was told by Apple that they won't repair it.
    So if consumerism is at odds with environmentalism, competitors including Tesla should be welcome to provide solutions instead of creating more problems for our planet.

    • @therandomdot2563
      @therandomdot2563 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Consumerism isn't at odds. Capitalism is. Consumers want self-service devices, replaceable batteries, etc. Companies don't, b/c then they can charge for a new device. So, companies roll out anti-consumer practices that are also anti-environment.
      The issue is companies spin it to make it seem like we consumers are the problem. But, we're not. We can only buy what companies make. Ideally, the free market would go "consumers like replaceable things, so my company will stand out by giving it to them." But, all companies see how lucrative it is to not provide that. So, all companies pursue the most lucrative business model instead of one that benefits consumers and environment.
      If companies could get you to buy a new phone every day while chucking your old one on a landfill, they would. They don't care about the landfill. That is an externalized cost the you eat by having to pay taxes to have gov't services try to cleanup. As long as companies don't have to pay for the cost, they won't care.
      This is why some gov'ts have rolled out green product recycle bills/laws, which basically say companies must make a product that's easy to break-down and recycle. That way it can at least get easily converted back into resource to reuse. But, here in the US, companies lobby against such things. They don't care about the environment. Just getting you to give them money.
      Any company that tries to save you money by making self-service devices, replaceable batters, etc.. is soon out of business. So, companies follow the pack. And, many companies are public, IE: on the stock exchange. And, once they go public, they are not consumer-friendly companies. They are shareholder-friendly. The consumer is just a number on a spreadsheet in an equation that is designed to optimize shareholder earnings.

    Mercedes Benz had a phone for their vehicle(s) but then discontinued it way back when. Of course it wasn’t as intricate as this and back then there wasn’t too much competition. More Teslas on the road would equivocate to more phones ultimately leading the people to switch to electric car. The only question is whether to make a phone that only works with a Tesla or with other electric cars as well. This way you’d be able to ride the momentum into your favor and thus creating an impact on the environment and slowly building the future, together.
    You can change much more than just the automotive industry because nowadays having a phone and car are “necessities” for the average American as it probably is in other parts of the world.

      This is some of the most sanctimonious crap and garbage I have seen yet.
      1) Elon Mush *DID NOT* design or develop the Tesla, he bought into a company that already existed.
      Yes he's been amazing at promoting it, but he's also promised self driving cars and trucks that NOBODY has seen work.
      2) Elon Mush *DID NOT* invent the Tunnel Boring Machine and his TBS are slower than the ones the Germans make.
      3) Elon Mush *DID NOT* design or develop the Falcon Rockets. That was done by a very talented team he lucked into lead by Gwynne Shotwell, who's had a lot of her credibility damaged by Elon's antics with Starship and going to Mars. That's a load of idiotic hype and for the record I am an aerospace engineer.

      at this point unfortunately its more a "personality cult" than real achievements. The name "Elon Musk" has become a brand and people love perpetuating his "legend" without actually checking how his projects are really doing.
      The only reason why we even have electric cars is because its "brute forced" onto us. No significant number of people likes those things and even those who supposedly do, do it just for the "social credit points" and not because they are really convinced. It turns out people are not very happy about trading in the comfort of tank filling in minutes against the charging of batteries over hours and more, let alone the dangers of batteries in a crash or the price etc.. I am not saying electric cars are bad forever, maybe they will one day solve the problems and issues and it will become the standard but that is not the case right now.

    Amazon tried and failed on their phone. The missed detail is that with any digital platform, it's the content that drives adoption. I will say, however, with competition (Apple, Android) so focused on bells and whistles, I have seen and experienced both fall on their face with the core premise of a phone - ensuring it rings every time someone calls you. That may be the open door needed. Having a universal network would be very interesting, especially if the cost of the phone included the subscription to use it. If phones became more accessible at a lower cashflow impact and a digital cannel could be created to ensure content / apps ... just maybe this thing could take off. One thing is true. It's going to be a tough climb and TESLA will need to build every tail wind they can into the play.

      @NarutoMagicCyclops 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      AFAIK the phone is based on an Android OS, just in-house built so any apps you use regularly should theoritically work flawlessly with any Pi phones. The sat connectivity as well as the 5G will allow the phone to work with any network you're using.

      You cant compare amazon vs testla gues who is in the lead of space travel and has already more ths 2000 satelites. If they made the Sapec X rockers what makes you think they can't make cellphone

    • @findingvirtual9146
      @findingvirtual9146 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Alucardtube636 You misunderstand. I don't argue Tesla's ability to make a phone, but having the worlds best phone is not competitive when the content drives the market. Changing the entire dynamic of the subscription base to run of satellites on the other hand would be interesting - realize the dream that the Iridium phone from Motorola failed to achieve at a reasonable price. That said, you NEED a content backbone for the mass of subscribers to join. Another correction - SpaceX is not Tesla (different companies, same founder), and Space X has 2,900 of satellites ... but a synergy between the two companies might help.

    One of my main questions is, does this mean we would have to sign up to Starlink as well to use the phone or would the Starlink service come with the phone? Since it seems like the Pi phone would be so proprietary that it would only be able to run those type of features on Starlink itself to keep up with the features instead of just being able to run off of any satellite or tower. While I understand the price of Starlink, it's so new and kind of incredible for those who are in the middle of nowhere finally allowing them to get internet at a reasonable, faster speed, it's still kinda spendy for most people. I will continue to follow the news on this. While the AI still has me a little unsure about whether or not I would want it, in an interview I watched where he talked about in-home AI robotics, I was quite excited to think that he would be able to develop us a robot that would clean the house, a real life "Rosie", not going to lie, I got super excited about that. 😁

He's doing some good stuff for sure but 80% of what he talks is hot air. What about those roof tile he said would power our houses? When will normal people have it? in 50 years maybe...

Or do we constantly keep buying products that we are charged extra for ear buds and charging cables? The tesla phone won't need to be plugged in to charge because it will be solar powered

    It does more than I need, but then again, I am not under 30 years old, so I am not addicted to the phone.
    I guess the reason a phone has to feel good in the hand these days is because so many people are ALWAYS holding it.
