So I went to a high school in New York where learning to swim was a part of gym and when I went to college, always in New York, they wouldn't let us graduate unless we passed a swimming test. Now I see how much sense that makes!
I think it is dangerous to go to a beach without lifegaurd, and especially in the evening, with less people around, and especially with all the storms and hurricane out. A sad loss indeed. My condolences to all who knew and loved them.

Not even ankle deep. How far out could they have been to be swept away? Sounds like it may have been the rip currents. So sad.
I feel for the family but please do not go into the water after 3 pm. Thats when the tide becomes higher, waves stronger...difficult to manage for even good swimmers. I can only imagine at 8 pm.
