Jojo, let's go! For reference, the anime started airing 2012, but the manga started in 1987 and is still ongoing. Dio's backstory in the beginning is actually an anime-exclusive addition to flesh out his character more (apart from his last conversation with his father, which is in the manga). In turn, they removed a scene of Jojo eating chocolate like a gremlin to comfort himself, what a loss.
I love Luke and his ability to instantly tell whether something is in Britain by (and only by) looking at a plate of food. Fun fact, despite their chiseled exteriors, JoJo and Dio are only about 12 years old here. As for the show, the anime originally aired in 2012, which is pretty recent, but the manga it's based on is from 1987! So it might feel a bit cliche at times, but that could be because it used those cliches when they were still fresh!
One thing to note about JoJo's is when someone is having an internal monologue, almost no time is passing during that monologue. And you can tell it's a monologue because the colours of the characters and surroundings change!
@@GOTGamesit managed to jump out while still burning. I do not think creators wanted us to see advanced dog suffering since they are not making anime for PETA.

11:27 The mask was in a box on Mr Joester's carriage at the beginning of the story. 2:34 On his journey to England in 1868 to bring this stone mask back to England, Mr Joester had an accident falling off a cliff. However, this stone mask is the source of the whole story and a key point in the narrative.
12:55 One of the oldest villain cliche: kick the dog. 16:32 "Did they just try to make the most evil villain ever?" Short answer, yes. Long answer, Hell Yes. All of JBA is over-the-top everything. I like that Jojo's was willing to make the 'spoiled rich kid' the good guy and the 'destitute poor kid' the evil one. It's such an inversion of the trope.
Well the rich kid being the bad guy and poor being the good one is already an inversion of a much older trope where the upstanding rich noble is inherently seen as good. Which is why we have the word "noble" as an intrinsically positive term to describe someone.
@@Zeik56 I don't think that actually holds up to historical scrutiny. You're also transposing the order of operations re: the etymology for the word 'noble' - the idea of 'being noble' existed before we slapped the label on nobility, so it was used to try to make the rulers seem more noble, rather than it being a word that came to mean that *after* being slapped on to the ruling class.

YOOO finally man, I'm so hyped for your reaction! Since there are lots of hidden fun stuff to know about jojo, I'm gonna tell them for each episode. Here are some cultural references of the episode: the name Dio Brando is a reference to Ronnie James Dio (a singer) and Marlon Brando (the actor of "The Godfather", which Araki, the mangaka, is a fan of), also Dio means "God" in italian; for Jonathan Joestar Araki wanted to create a nickname that could be abbreviate, like Steven Spielberg S.S., so JOnathan JOestar, JOJO (which is also a Get Back reference, a song by Beatles); Erina Pendelton refers the song Eleanor Rigby by Beatles and Danny references the homonym song by Loggins and Messina. Also the first chapter of the manga was released in 1987, and for the time it was very innovative, especially for the Dio and Erina scene. Btw, there are some scene that were removed in the anime, which are worth mentioning: an introduction on the mask, which was used by ancient Aztec religious sacrifices, a scene of Jonathan saved by his dog from drowning, the mention that Jonathan's mom bought that mask in a flea market, and a shot of Danny coming out of the furnace BURNT ALIVE. Last thing, Araki started writing jojo as a loud to celebrate humanity in any kind of form, so the duality between the kindness of jojo and the jealousy of Dio for joestar undeserved wealthy will be important for the story. 13:49 dont worry, it is not a clichè, George knows... Oh yeah, the ending of this part is the song Roundabout by Yes and it gave birth to the meme "To be continued". Hype for the next episodes!

He's not ashamed of looking at erina in the end. Erina feels ashamed because of what dio did and jonathan feela guilty because he blames himself. Dio only went after her because she was with him. He's keeping away from her now as a way to protrct her from dio; especially after seeing he's evil enough to burn a dog alive.

If I could sum up this anime in one word it's this: Destiny. In many words (no spoilers): Vampires, zombies, ghosts, aliens, humans, space, earth, good, evil, dogs, cats, turtles, mice, birds, friends, enemies, rivals, control, fate, power, humility, life, death, arrows, Jesus, musical albums, honor, deceit, luck, skill, oingo boingo, guns, time, history, the future, blood, stone, gold, diamonds, stardust, red stones, sun, moon, breathing, construction equipment, and it's all the same kind as star platinum.

In the fansub of this episode I saw, they went the extra mile and gave the characters different British accents intended to match the speaking style and personalities of the characters. So George speaks in a posh aristocrat style, while Dario speaks with more of a Cockney style.
Jojo is filled with musical references from the get go, usually a named character or place or whatever is often named after a song or band, specially old school rock, see if you can catch any of those references
30:55 actually in the manga the door of the furnace opens and Danny bursts out engulfed by flames. So I think it seems a bit weird when the butler just stands there because they didn't want to include burning Danny in the anime 😅😅
FINALLY!! I've been waiting for this for quite some time, I don't understand even half of what you say because my English level is -9999 but oh well, the automatic subtitles help a little bit
I just hope you do not miss the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan OVA that takes place after Part 4 & before Part 5. But am sure people will remind you to react to it.
Can't wait for you to get to the Dio redemption arc. No, really, they do it. They even have him and Jojo get together and have 4 kids together. Truly a bizarre adventure.
14:25 in those stories the family usually doesn't like the one telling the truth all that much. Or what they're saying is so extreme it seems unbelievable.
Mumen Rider would disagree about the 'don't fight if you know you're gonna lose' because: "It's not about winning or losing, it's about me taking you on, right here, right now!"
Once you've seen JoJo, you'll realize just how much of an impact it has had on so many other shows as well. There is a reason that one of the biggest JoJo memes is "is that a JoJo reference?", and it has to do with how many other animes, games and so many other forms of media references this show! Anyway, so it begins!
Ok time to start, JoJo's author Araki is a huge fan of western media and puts tons of references into JoJo. DIO was named after Ronnie James DIO, singer for the bands "DIO" and "Black Sabbath" try and pay attention there are literally hundreds of these and your probably gonna get a lot of them if you pay attention.
Total JoJo episodes from part 1-6 is 190 episodes, if bro watches 1 episode/week, bro will need 190 weeks equivalent to 3.64 years, 47.5 months, 1330 days, 31920 hours, 1915200 minutes, 114912000 seconds, from the time this video is released until the reaction jojo part 6 Ep 38 video will be released, then it will be Thursday August 31, 2028!!! Maybe by then jojo part 7 will be released
Araki's peak villain writing. Jojo does this; you'll know if a character is a villain or supposed to be hated. The fact that you get such a viceral reaction to Dio being an asshole is precisely the intended reaction
I was meaning to rewatch jojo guess i'll do it here now, Part 1 looks new but it is VERY old school so don't get put off by the things that feel cliche and so on, but its still an amazing part I hope you enjoy the anime, its one of my favorites every single part feels very different unique and special I bet you'll love it
Keep in mind that this is a VERY big rabbit hole. This series has been running for decades with a few spin-offs, weird adaptations and so much more. Kind of like the sonic franchise in a way. I have dealt with both fanbases and they have a similiar level of dedication towards finding out every nook and cranny that hasn't been discussed as much as it probably should. Also i want to point out that in the manga the butler actually opens the door and you can see Danny being burned alive....for some reason they decided to cut that out of the anime
You were talking about mushy peas and in my mind I was thinking ''what an awful sounding food'' but then I heard you say that they're good and I burst out laughing lmao
Hey awesome for you to finally get into this I'm once more really into jojos because of reaction videos such as this and finally got around to finally finishing part 8 and catching up to part 9 during the holidays Actually looking forward to you reacting the series and I hope you have fun with it more than anything Jojo's is a show that gets better with every part You might like some parts more than others not depending on order but you cannot deny that it develops drastically over time into one of the greatest series of all time Also I think the anime that David Productions gave to us really does this iconic series justice Lastly, it might not be for everyone and that's very understandable and no one's gonna blame you if you drop it but for me it is phenomenal and something worth watching Have fun my guy, continue with the great job you are doing Edit: I also came to JoJo's for the memes and I was one of the annoying mfs who couldn't stop talking about it but then I kinda dropped it and came back to it and I see its true greatness. The memes are cool but this series is so much deeper than it looks and so so so so so much thought has clearly gone into it, I cannot thank Araki enough for giving us such a series
omg i cant believe it. i was waiting for this so long you finally gonna watch this magnificent amazing anime .. you gonna like it more than you think but i hope watch every parts its a not long journey but there ALOT of fun and ... more :D
I know people love the original voices for JoJo, with good reason, but I do wish I could watch someone react to it in dub. JoJo has one of the most under-appreciated English dubs.
Imma be honest, i never liked episode 1 because of the dog scene and because of Dio but i continued watching jojo and i truly love it. One of the best anime out there
31:15 It's manga time. Manga and anime are two different media. In the manga even though it takes 1 panel to show the scene there's a speech bubble with dialogue. The time isn't moving while the reader reads the speech bubble. The time moves only when reader's eyes jump to the next panel where time stops again. But in the anime the actor has to say the lines, so it looks like it takes a lot of time while doing nothing. Hence why you can often see characters running or falling endlessly while talking. Otherwise they'd have to cut the dialogue out to move time quicker. It's something you can't avoid if doing a faithful manga to anime adaptation. In this specific case he does open the door but they decided to censor it and cut the scene of a burning dog jumping out.

Remember... they have internal thoughts as well, they are a split second, not how long we see them.
"Has he hit a child?" He has in fact hit a child. Jojo is 12 years old at this point.
Congratulations for stepping onto the JoJo verse.
Once you are in, there is no turning back now.
An epic journey waits him. Also, i hope NicholasLightTV continue his Jojo reaction one day, lol.
@@ghidorahtempest2457 He reacted to Jojo's?
Does he not hate it?
@@artificialanimeuniverse5063 Viewership problem. People urged him to react to Jojo like crazy, but the videos weren't doing good. He reacted to some Jojo episodes on stream, but not many folks showed up either. That is why he put the show on hold, until the situation becomes better. Same problem with Mob Psycho 100 and several other shows too.
@@ghidorahtempest2457 Man, why does he run after views?
Watch the shows you want and let people see you enjoying it.
Why does he wanna sell himself to his audience?
If I was to be a reactor, I would be my own master and watch whatever I like.
@@ghidorahtempest2457 BTW, Wanna check out a game I made recently?
Jojo! Je suis français et je regarde tes réactions depuis l’attaque des titans, continues comme ça
19:32 well at first dio wanted to be number 1 to get the joestar inheritance instead of jojo himself , so it was about the money really
13:58 I don't need to imagine it, I've lived it more than once. One of my cousins exist because of one of those times.
8:40 It's not Garf, but you might recognize the VA from:
- Sora from No Game No Life
- Inosuke
- Betelgeuse from Re:Zero
- Teruki from Mob Psycho
Can't wait for you to get to the Dio redemption arc.
No, really, they do it. They even have him and Jojo get together and have 4 kids together. Truly a bizarre adventure.
this reads as sarcastic but is 100% true! you have to trust us! Definitely not fan fiction lol
this sounds like a joke. a very bad one, but this is in-fact 100% true.
@@MVR3IWER I was crying like a baby when Dio finally was the one to say "It's JoJoin' time", truly work of fiction
Seeing this made my day fr
It's starting HERE and NOW
Guys, hold back your spoilers for this one.
5:10 This anime is about Fate with all seasons its about the Fate
Not perticularly, but you can say that the Part 1-6 Universe does revolve around the concept of Fate alot compared to the alternate Universe.
14:25 in those stories the family usually doesn't like the one telling the truth all that much. Or what they're saying is so extreme it seems unbelievable.
keep in mind that Jonathan is 12yo in this episode and Dio is 13yo
You thought MHA would win. But it was I, Dio!
That’s it. This comment wins
@@TanookiNoKintama Agreed.
+1 for originality
😂
Mumen Rider would disagree about the 'don't fight if you know you're gonna lose' because:
"It's not about winning or losing, it's about me taking you on, right here, right now!"
I love that you started this from the first series.
You thought it was a meme of the first episode..
But It was me, Dio!
Cant wait for more
Ok time to start, JoJo's author Araki is a huge fan of western media and puts tons of references into JoJo.
DIO was named after Ronnie James DIO, singer for the bands "DIO" and "Black Sabbath"
try and pay attention there are literally hundreds of these and your probably gonna get a lot of them if you pay attention.
The anime is from 2012, but the manga began publishing in 1987. That's how far animation had to come to do JoJo justice.
And yes, George Joestar is the most infuriating character in the entire series
The Dio menacing landing
And his force kiss declaration
"Kono Dio Da"
Such an old meme 🤣
Yet it's still hilarious AF
Total JoJo episodes from part 1-6 is 190 episodes, if bro watches 1 episode/week, bro will need 190 weeks equivalent to 3.64 years, 47.5 months, 1330 days, 31920 hours, 1915200 minutes, 114912000 seconds, from the time this video is released until the reaction jojo part 6 Ep 38 video will be released, then it will be Thursday August 31, 2028!!! Maybe by then jojo part 7 will be released
Its 3 a week
He said at the start he will be doing 3 a week
@@skeleton07gg75oh if so then it will take him 1 year 3.8 months to watch all 6 parts or maybe faster
Monday, Wednesday and Saturday ❤
@ noice
Fuck yeah. Finally a top tier anime. Mob to JoJos. Peak to peak.
Araki's peak villain writing.
Jojo does this; you'll know if a character is a villain or supposed to be hated. The fact that you get such a viceral reaction to Dio being an asshole is precisely the intended reaction
you were expecting a regular comment, bit it was me, DIO!
😂
If we told you what the story was about, you wouldn't believe us. XD
So happy to see you watching this gem of a show.
The start of an incredible journey
YEAAAAAAAHHHH!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! It's about mutha freaking time!! LETS GOOOOO🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I was meaning to rewatch jojo guess i'll do it here now, Part 1 looks new but it is VERY old school so don't get put off by the things that feel cliche and so on, but its still an amazing part I hope you enjoy the anime, its one of my favorites every single part feels very different unique and special I bet you'll love it
The best way to describe Jojo is DRAMA OVER THE ROOF
Everything is over the top and extra
I'm so excited for this journey of yours Luke! Enjoy the Bizarre!
Let’s goooo!!! So excited for this series!!
I’m so excited ya’ll
On the first day of Christmas Araki gave to me
A furnace full of Danny
My god you dont even have any idea how incredible this anime really is probably one of the best things in earth
I hope Luke is able to catch all the music references throughout this show💯
This anime is pure art ⭐
The anime was made in 2012,but the manga is from 1987
Hey awesome for you to finally get into this
I'm once more really into jojos because of reaction videos such as this and finally got around to finally finishing part 8 and catching up to part 9 during the holidays
Actually looking forward to you reacting the series and I hope you have fun with it more than anything
Jojo's is a show that gets better with every part
You might like some parts more than others not depending on order but you cannot deny that it develops drastically over time into one of the greatest series of all time
Also I think the anime that David Productions gave to us really does this iconic series justice
Lastly, it might not be for everyone and that's very understandable and no one's gonna blame you if you drop it but for me it is phenomenal and something worth watching
Have fun my guy, continue with the great job you are doing
Edit: I also came to JoJo's for the memes and I was one of the annoying mfs who couldn't stop talking about it but then I kinda dropped it and came back to it and I see its true greatness. The memes are cool but this series is so much deeper than it looks and so so so so so much thought has clearly gone into it, I cannot thank Araki enough for giving us such a series
The bizarre adventure begins WOOO
What a day, what a lovely day
30:55 welcome to the classic Jojo experience -- people narrating in a loud voice about everything that's happening while standing around
omg i cant believe it. i was waiting for this so long you finally gonna watch this magnificent amazing anime .. you gonna like it more than you think but i hope watch every parts its a not long journey but there ALOT of fun and ... more :D
Btw I wanna clarify that the woman with Dario at the beginning isn’t Dio’s mother, the manga states it’s just some woman he met at the bar
Finally. Peak series.
I know people love the original voices for JoJo, with good reason, but I do wish I could watch someone react to it in dub. JoJo has one of the most under-appreciated English dubs.
Oh, boy...here we go~
Imma be honest, i never liked episode 1 because of the dog scene and because of Dio but i continued watching jojo and i truly love it. One of the best anime out there
We should all live our lives according to Dio's teachings.
WHAAAAATT DIDNT EXPECT THIS ONE
I wanted My hero to win but it is what it is jojo is a great anime

It's manga time.
